The 9th Kalamata Street Festival will be held on 28-29-30-31 July, at the Municipal Railway Park. Kalamata Street Festival is an international voluntary structure organised by K.A.NE - Social Youth Development and the Youth Centre of Kalamata, with the support of the Region of Peloponnese Regional District of Messinia and local associations, organisations and groups of Kalamata. Entry to the events is free. The festival features more than 20 parallel events, combining youth creativity, intergenerational cooperation and preservation of the cultural heritage of our prefecture. The program includes theatre performances, concerts, dance groups, educational actions for children and young people, short-film and video-art screenings, painting exhibitions, artistic installations and an environmental stand. It aims to provide young creators with a space for expression, and motivate them to participate in more activities in the future, highlighting the public space, as a meeting, co-creation and social development area. More info: www.streetfestival.gr _____________ One of the earliest specialized video-art festivals in Greece, Miden is an independent organization for the exploration and promotion of video art. Founded by an independent group of Greek artists in 2005 in Kalamata, it seeks to stimulate the creation of original video art, to help spread it and develop relevant research. Through collaborations and exhanges with major international festivals and organizations, it has been recognized as one of the most successful and interesting video art platforms internationally and as an important cultural exchange point for Greek and international video art. It also provides an alternative meeting point for emerging and established artists and a communication hub between artists, organizations, festivals and art spaces around the world.
