Letter To Family and Friends of Girlfriends Talk From Founder and Editor- In Chief Janice L. Carter July was a hot one! Wow, some of those days were unbearable but we made it through. Although the first day of Fall won’t be here until September 23, I hope August will be a little bit more lenient on us. Our children will return back to school and high school football kicks off, with that said, could we give a high five to the NFL ending their lock out? August will be a busy month for me and I’ am loving it. I hope you enjoyed July’s Issue of Girlfriends Talk, and this month will be even better. Welcome aboard to Girlfriends Talk new contributor and daily inspiration Mr. Clayton Walker. Despite his circumstance he is so uplifting and full of life. Last but not least, in last month’s issue I expressed my frustrations and how hard the last few months had been for me. I don’t regret it because like I said Girlfriends Talk is made up of Real People, Real Talk, Real Issues but I received a letter that truly touched my heart. Just when you think you are falling something or someone catches you in mid air and gracefully lift you back up. Thank you David S. Bell, for your kind words and please believe I will always try to do my best to represent the dreamers, the misunderstood, the lost ones and the ones who have given up hope. I am so honored to hear people say they are a fan of Girlfriends Talk but I would prefer the word “Believers” versus fans. I want you all to believe in my movement and me. If we try to embrace one another instead of judging each other things would be so much easier. Peace Sister Of My Soul! In your article you stated that you had been questioning yourself and wanting to give up & isolate yourself again. That wasn’t a good place for you, right? Well, allow me to bestow upon you some Real Talk! I begin by saying, not only do you have strength and energy to be strong but you give your reader’s the strength and energy that we need to be strong as well-against the portholes that often has us (yourself as well) drifting and “reminiscing” away from today’s reality and tomorrow’s future. I believe there are forces beyond the power of wo/men that thrives upon the unhappiness and misery of individuals such as ourselves. Don’t separate yourself from the one and only someone (You) who believes. You are worthy and you possess far greater potential than you give your own self credit for. Don’t separate yourself from the person’s (the reader’s) that has trust in you. You are a woman who is capable of understand what it is really like to inhale and exhale. Not the kind of woman that is unknown to us because she selfishly would not allow us to reach the closeness of her heart and soul. Do not allow the stranger hood of us to be defeated !the sole purpose of our being. You cannot run from the “Purest” possibilities of the future. We the reader’s will not allow your past to suffocate your heart and soul, if we were to allow that to happen, it’ll leave you unable to express the conditions of the situation! bitterness and envy will leave your heart and soul feeling sinister towards the intentions of Girlfriends Talk. Do not enslave the existence and disguise your true self, trapping yourself within the cages of regret. The only way that you’ll feel better or become better is to cleanse every part of the past by simply being “Pure” to and within yourself. With the above mentions being said, Please continue your movement of building unity and communication amongst the locals, then the world. Your Fan, D.S.Bell P.S: This is a cruel valley, a wild and salvage wilderness that’s over run with ruins. Put on your crown my friend and
build a new understanding in these ruins. The word, "OVERCOME." Often times the only obstacle that stands in the way of success is the fear of failure. We must learn to "OVERCOME" our fears if we are to achieve our successes in all areas of our life. Business, Relationships, Family and Ourselves...In the spirit of Victory, We Shall "OVERCOME."...-Clayton Walker

Did You Know!
These days, you simply go to the skating center, put wheels on your feet and you're ready for fun. But in the "olden days" it wasn't quite so easy. A Belgian inventor named Joseph Merlin introduced the first patented roller skate in 1760. What an introduction! He wore his new skates to a party in London, where he crashed into a very expensive mirror. He wasn't very interested in skating after this experience. However, other inventors produced some roller skate models, most with in-line wheels to imitate and ice skating blade. In 1863, James Plimpton, a businessman from Massachusetts invented a roller skate that could turn. It was called a "rocking" skate--the first one that really let people skate curves and turn. Plimpton opened a skating club in New York where gentlemen enjoyed showing off for the ladies by doing fancy figures, steps and turns. Within 20 years, roller-skating had become a popular pastime for men and women. Roller skating contests began to increase. Indoors, wealthy gentlemen in Newport, Rhode Island, played "roller polo," a hockey game. Others held contests in dance and figure skating. Outdoors, men and women were racing in speed contests. The more the public saw of skating, the more they wanted to try it them selves. Roller-skating was soon enjoying its first boom. Just before World War II, in 1937, a group of skating rink owners (one from Massachusetts: Fred Freeman) formed an association to promote roller-skating and establish good business practices for skating rinks. The association is now almost 50 years old: The Roller Skating Rink Operators Association (RSROA) The Skate land building owner, George Psyche, has been a Vice President of that association. George was Chairman of the New England Chapter of the RSROA for about 10 years and was Chairman of the Northeast Region Chapter of the RSROA for a few years. Mary Pyche was Vice President of the New England Chapter of the RSROA for one year and Secretary for 12 years. Mary was also Secretary of the Northeast Region Chapter. The RSROA group is now known as the Roller Skating Association (RSA). Under the guidance of the RSROA, roller-skating enjoyed steady growth through the 1940s, '50s and '60s. It became known as a family activity that was good for everyone, an identity that it still has today. In the 1970s, there was a big improvement in roller-skating. Skating floors became easier to care for because of plastic coatings. Plastic skate wheels for smoother, easier, safer skating became the standard. And, the music and lighting at skating centers was modernized. When skaters discovered how easy it was to skate outdoors with the new wheels, another big skating boom was on the way (sneaker skates and skateboards). By 1977, everyone was suddenly skating to disco music. Five years later, but more than 100 years after Plimpton's invention, the RSROA helped establish National Roller Skating Week, so everyone could celebrate and fun and fitness of today's roller skating. George and Mary Pyche, in 19??, while officers of the New England Chapter of the RSROA, received the proclamation from Governor Sargeant of Massachusetts for "Roller Skating Week in Massachusetts"--(second week of September???). Roller skating is easy, inexpensive entertainment, so people of all ages make it a habit to meet friends, make new ones, play games and enjoy the music at their nearest skating center. -National Association Skate Museum
A Standing Ovation By Frank Comer
The Black Woman is a symbol of strength; she has historically and repeatedly risen from obscurity to power. Her essence has embodied not only Black Men but also the whole human race. The voluptuousness of her body has caused many to desire her. Her pronounced African features have made her a victim of sexual exploitation and gratification. The fullness of her lips, the broadness of nose, the sincerity in her eyes that are free from fear and the pigmentation of her skin color have made her exotic and the envy of many. The Black Woman is an essential part of the Black family structure. She is the calmness that shields others from destruction. The Black Woman has understanding gained by experiences. She possesses deep feelings of expressions and demonstrates with authority her wisdom while she is maintaining a clear perception of truth. Despite the perpetuation of negative stereotypes and public attacks on her reputation, which are misleading and misunderstood, and are a product of urban culture, she is blessed with gratitude, affection and reverence. She has emerged as a more confident, more resilient person, she is to be praised and given her just do considering all the trials and tribulations that she has endured. The foundation that Black Woman provide is of a moral and emotional nature bestowed upon her by God. Her presence is spiritual and she is very strong within her existence. The Black Woman is soulful and has the capacity for learning and gives reasoning to the many tributes that are only examples. The Black Woman has mothered many and given birth to civilizations with common ancestry. The Black Woman has been called everything but what she is; “ A strong independent Black Woman who provides, protects and forgives. She is a part of me. I will not give up on her because she has never given up on me despite my flaws and shortcomings. I stand before you in a literary manner applauding you and all that you represent for Black Men. I love this woman of substance and my obligations and allegiances will never allow me to abandon her. Be strong and never compromise your independent Black Womanhood!
Keeping It Real With Dr. Feel
Love Locked Down Her Whim Or The Highway? Dear Dr. Feel, I have been locked up now for 16 months of my 7 year sentence. At the time I was taken away, I was head over heels for my girl. She was always there for me and stayed down with me in every way. I know that patience is a virtue but she has been totally inconsistent the entire time I have been away. One minute I’m getting a million love letters. She’s confessing her love for me and telling me how she wants us to get married one day. The next thing I know, she’s not answering my calls and she has supposedly run off with someone new. A week or two will go by and “Bing!” she pops back on the scene, She gives me some long, drama filled excuse about how she’s just not herself without me and she just got caught up trying to find the feelings she felt for me in someone else. Her story is always heartfelt and sincere. She always manages to jump back in the car with me even though it’s usually somewhere down the road. Dr. Feel do you think I should continue to let her juggle our relationship at her whim and convenience? Or, should I just count it up as a loss and let her do her while I’m away? Give me the real Dr. Feel. To: Her Whim or The Highway, Shame! Shame! Shame! Now you know that when you’ re doing time, you are doing the time by yourself and with yourself. You can only hope and pray that you have “anybody” who will be there with and for you at all. All that mushy love stuff she’s telling you is what makes her feel good about whatever it is she’s doing for you or not doing for you. If I were you, I would just dribble the ball when it’s in your hands. When it’s not, just wait long enough for it to be passed then take another shot. Some is always better than none. So, it is what it is. Enjoy it when it comes: don’t stress when it’s gone. Do your time my man. Don’t let the time do you !just keeping it Real. How Do You Feel?
1. a. often Utopia An ideally perfect place, especially in its social, political, and moral aspects. b. A work of fiction describing a utopia. 2. An impractical, idealistic scheme for social and political reform. The world seems to have quietly changed a lot over the past two decades. A new tolerance for the new definition of family and values has emerged. Our government has become “socially correct” on some of its’ past hang-ups. Years of sexual discrimination and persecution have been addressed with new laws and privileges for the “3rd GENDER.” Victories in court have solidified that the truest of promises made by our founding fathers “THE PURSUIT of HAPPINESS” for all can be realized by Gays, Lesbians, and Transgendered. Man to Man Woman-toWoman and etc. are free to display their union and love to each other just like any other couple. They are free to unite their families, property, bills, social status, history, cultures, opinions, and debt proudly. The oppression of this particular group is on the road to being deleted from our society and as a progressive people we should be proud of the steps we have made within ourselves. Hidden agendas are the root of our society’s evils. Persecution of any person or people is wrong on every level. Moral rules of engagement have no place in our world because no man or woman has the right to be a moral judge for anyone. The problem with all of this new freeness with morals that we are feeling is that it in fact is not free at all. Let me be clear here: “I AM ALL FOR THE FREEDOM OF EVERY PERSON TO CHOOSE HOW AND WITH WHOM THEY WISH TO LIVE WITH. BASICALLY IF SOMEONE WANTS TO BE WITH THE SAME SEX !THEY HAVE EVERY RIGHT TO BE AS MISERABLE AS HETEROSEXUALS TOO!” What we have here is a blatant plan and execution by what many of us call the secret society. The 1st part of the plan took off in 1962 when the groundwork for removing GOD and Prayer from school was introduced. After parents of a school won the right to the removal a flawless plot from then until present day took off without a hitch. With the initial checking of peoples temperature regarding these changes secured there was no stopping the “Agenda.” There is a little known secret that our society has been programmed and not given the right to choose our acceptance and lifestyles. Thomas Jefferson said, “A nation that refuses to teach its children right from wrong, good from evil, will become a corrupt nation, where sin prevails, evil abounds and children do as they please! When those children grow up and become leaders, corruption and tyranny will become the norm. America will move away from freedom to a state which has more control and restrictions on its citizens.” Many do not believe or have been brainwashed into ignorance “they seek to establish conditions on Earth that will be propitious for the establishment of a World Empire under their direct control, that is, the Last Secular Global Kingdom on Earth, which is the Kingdom of Antichrist on Earth. The New Age One World Conspirators seek the destruction of what they call the "Old World Order," which is Natural Moral Order on Earth set in place by the supreme Will of God. Hence, for centuries, the Confederacy of Evil has marshalled its hosts, and organized itself for its calculated assault on Natural Moral Order, its assault on the Church of Christ and its assault on Western Civilization.
” If we remember we were all raised on God and Morals. The belief in God in my opinion is not the problem but this is what we were taught and when many blacks questioned the validity of the facts about Jesus and Bible accounts and the lack of correct documentation of facts they were bashed. Now the same culture that was spawn from the belief of “IN GOD WE TRUSTS” is now turning its’ back on it. Schools are not the only victims: Published June 29, 2011| FoxNews.com-Veterans in Houston say the Department of Veterans Affairs is consistently censoring their prayers by banning them from saying the words "God" and "Jesus" during funeral services at Houston National Cemetery. - This is in no way the fault of homosexuals nor any of the supporters who their rights as human beings. The agenda is to blame. Movies, television, and almost every fascite of life over the past 20yrs have been affected. Wednesday, October 08, 2008 By Robert Knight” If you’re noticing your TV screen turning pink, it’s not just your imagination. “On Single Ladies, her character discusses the pros and cons of sexual anonymity, saying initially that network executives backed away from her fictional talk show. But later in the episode she returns to Val with a scheme to pretend they’re in a relationship because she’s now discovered that “gay is the new black.” The character reveals, “Being gay is fabulous!I have six new Facebook fan pages. And for every sponsor that falls out, I’ve gotten two more.” The new broadcast TV season includes 22 series featuring a total of 35 openly gay characters, according to the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD).” This does not include the logo channel and Glee and many of the teen shows that glorify and promote a homosexual lifestyle. “There are openly gay writers on almost every major prime-time situation comedy you can think of ! In short, when it comes to sitcoms, gays rule. - With a record number of homosexual characters on television, and only pro-gay story lines, it’s not surprising that polls show that Americans are becoming increasingly accepting of homosexuality. The activists are well on their way toward their goal of recasting traditional sexual morality as a form of bigotry. The next step will be to bring government muscle down on traditionalists – just like they’re doing right now in Canada and Europe.” Big box office movies were the next logical step on the “Agenda.” For many years the Disney corporation has promoted cross-dressing and more than friendly same sex characters in its’ movies targeted to babies, children, and young adults. The “AGENDA” is now putting a stronghold on music as well. All of us have heard the rumors about many of so called gangsta rappers who are nothing more than puppets and impostors degrading women for fame, and homosexual at heart. This was a tactic of the past. Today we have not only LIL B introducing a cd titled “I’m Gay”, but we have many others trying to break the mold with shock value sexual orientation music. I came across a lot of disturbing stories outlining the lengths that many of Billboards top artists past and present engaging in acts and sentiments promoting the alternative lifestyle just to “be in the business.” People can write anything so I choose not to quote anything that can’t be proven, but how many times have you watched an artist and wondered where is the world really going. Along with open support of the “Agenda” comes the hypocrite backlash. Leading the charge against homosexual lifestyles are the politicians and church groups. Debates over whether or not homosexuals have rights and freedoms are a constant issue. Not to my surprise many of the same homosexual hate screamers are in fact themselves closet homosexuals. Barney Frank, Mayor James West, Bob Bauman and a 16-Year-Old Male Prostitute, Mark Foley, Larry Craig, Roy Ashburn, Richard Curtis!this is an endless list. HBO documentary “OUTRAGE” took the hypocrites to task by naming names and using colleagues to unmask the deceit and turncoat
practice of closet homosexuals in politics. The church is an even more backsliding institution when it comes to this topic. Catholic priests over the past decade have been accused of molesting thousands of young boys while preaching moral uprightness. Not just Catholics but more recently Pastor Eddie Long was accused of having sex with male parishioners. He is not alone. Day after day many closet homosexuals who bash and denounce the lifestyle are ousted. The problem with this entire discussion is the “Agenda!” We are all human beings before our sexual preference or sexual orientation. Why are we so consumed by whom another adult human being chooses as their mate? Every man and woman has the right to choose. Choice is the operative word here. When there is an “Agenda” there is no choice. There is not just too much homosexual activity being pushed but also heterosexual. To believe that the “Agenda” is not influencing children and society into what their view of the world should be is ridiculous. Because we care too much about this subject is why we are having so many issues. Why is it a major announcement when Ellen DeGeneres, Ricky Martin, Adam Lambert, athletes, celebrities, or anyone comes out of the “closet?” We haven’t even gotten our separation of the races together and now we are concerned with whom another person marries. Don’t we have a lot of other problems to focus on? If we concerned ourselves with treating each other as human beings we would not have to have debates and laws on this issue. But when you directly introduce a lifestyle on a society and promote it until acceptance is reached you have not given that society a choice. Our babies should not be introduced to any type sexual preference until they reach a maturity level that can handle it. In my honest opinion I don’t know if many of the new openly homosexuals even know what their preference is. Because we are so turned upside down from direct influence the homosexual lifestyle with many is a fad for acceptance and not a choice. I have gay friends and family members who also think in some respects that a lot of what we see nowadays is overkill. The choice is gone and the direct influence is in. I don’t want to include the studies and proof of estrogen based chemicals used by men and in our drinking water that is a direct attack on choice but in fact are influencing cellular changes in male DNA, because to be honest the “Agenda” has succeeded and any shining the light on the truth is met with discontent. We need to learn to love each other and not love or hate another person’s choices. CHOICE!. do you think the younger generation and our society is being given 1?

Young Hearts By: Janice Carter Remember as a child your mother bought you those plastic one, two, three Fisher Price roller skates? Then as a teenager you moved up to the all white or all black roller skates with the colorful pom-poms connected to the shoelaces. The skating rink was the place to be if you skated or not. As we got older we traded the skates in for a boy/girlfriend and babies. (Ok maybe that’s just my story.) Some of us drifted away from this childhood fun. It was years later when I returned back to the skate scene to see some of the same faces from when I was younger still getting it in. I was in total awe and that moment it took me back in a time when having fun was truly just this simple and innocent. Good music, laughter and people of all ages having a good time. Trying to act as if I still had it myself, I had to really face the reality that I was out of shape and this was going to take some getting use to again. Skating has an extra perk. It is also great exercise. What better way to workout and enjoy your self at the same time? Taking long skates will build your strength and endurance. With roller-skating, you are using your heavy muscles, which have several health benefits. You are building stronger muscle groups, and as such you are improving your body tone. With stronger muscles you burn fat quicker, which is another plus. Most importantly, you get an aerobic work out with all the attending benefits, cardiovascular health, lower blood pressure, diabetes control and much more. Skating has a whole world of it’s own. The serious skaters travel the world and participate in competitions. Like a thief in the night I invaded a guy I know by the name of Jokey’s Facebook page because I knew of his passion for roller-skating. He had a lot of pictures and while looking through these pictures, it took me on a whole other journey. So much was going on, traveling, groups with their special made T-shirts, costumes and dress shoes with the wheels on the bottom of them. These pictures left me with so many questions. I contacted Jokey and waited for his return call, without luck, I guess I will have to wait for those answers. Until then I will let my mind wonder on about every event that took place in those pictures. To sum this article up, I want to say no matter your age, stay young at heart and what better way to rejuvenate your self than to live life to the complete fullest.
Black Expo in Indianapolis 2011 Once again I had a ball at the Indianapolis Black Expo! It was like I had been waiting all year to release this tension. My first day consisted of an outdoors concert in the American Legions Mall Park. At first I thought to myself this is where I’m gonna surely die at. It was so hot. Once the S.O.S Band hit the stage sounding great as ever and energetic as all get out. I pushed that heat stroke to the side! They left me with old school flash backs and at one point had me wishing I had on a pair of roller skates. Then came Stephanie Mills, a true diva to the end, when she announced that she was 53 years old, I couldn’t believe it. In great shape and voice still as crisp as ever. She worked the stage with grace, even did an outfit change and was still on beat. It was truly an honor to be able to experience this night. Ms. Stephanie Mills even brought her 10-year-old son (who has down syndrome) up on stage who blended in as a band member and appeared to play the guitar. Can you say humbleness, realness? That’s the feeling I get when I’m in Indianapolis. At last the moment I had been waiting on, Head of State (Bobby Brown, Ralph Tresvant and Johnny Gill) is when my night really took off. Let me tell you, it was truly awesome. Those ageless men didn’t skip a beat. This took me all the way back to the 80’s at the Hyatt Regency in Columbus when I very first saw New Edition in concert. This time I was much cooler and besides my feet was hurting too bad at this point to be jumping up and down! Although that didn’t stop me from fantasizing I was right there on that stage as a fourth member of the group. In my mind I had the dance routine down tight! Bobby Brown is still the man and when he song “Tender Roni” The crowd went crazy. It was hilarious seeing him trying to do some of his old dance moves but had to stop himself as Ralph and Johnny jokingly had to help him up at times. I had a ball. It was like each group performed a mini concert. I was so tired when it was over, I didn’t know what to do. That’s how you should feel after you leave a show. Good music never gets old. Humbleness and appreciation takes you a long, long way and no matter how long you are a way you will always be welcomed back with open arms and hearts. What ever you do in life enjoy it to the fullest. As I waited in line for the V.I.P seating, my eyes wondered the park that was filled with people, picnicking, laughing, talking, dancing and having a great time. There was a lot more to come in this action packed weekend, celebrity basketball game, slam dunk contest, all white party, vendors and more old school artist. Such as Full Force, Force MD’S, Troop, Biz Markie, BBD and M.C Lyte . They even had church service on Sunday at the Convention Center. I couldn’t help but feel this is what it is all about. Unity!

ROLLING IN THE C.O.
Girlfriends Talk Magazine It’s about Sense and Science, or Rational Astro! IT’S TIME FOR SCHOOL ARIES-Aries boys and girls may fall into the early habit of neglecting homework, and using your more obedient child as an example will hardly impress them. Instead of shamming them into studying, challenge them. They love a challenge. TAURUS-Teachers usually find the Taurus child a credit to the class. Taurus boys and girls will be industrious in school, learn their lessons methodically and have excellent powers of concentration. Their mind absorbs slowly, but they never forget what they’ve learned. GEMINI-Teachers will usually notice right away that these boys and girls have no trouble learning to read. Gemini almost invented words. They love to recite and communicate with others, sharing knowledge verbally or on paper. Many of them are mechanically inclined or ambidextrous. CANCER-Teachers normally find these boys and girls to be whizzes in history and memory. They seldom forget dates or events. That’s because they can read something that happened years ago, and almost believe they were there. LEO-Teachers can expect the Leo students to do a little instructing of their own. They love to explain things to others, and nothing delights them more than playing the role of the substitute teacher when the teacher has to the leave the room. VIRGO-In school, Virgos are apt to be the teacher’s pet, simply because they’re the easiest boys and girls to discipline and the ones who study their lessons carefully. Criticism, however, should be used sparingly. Too much stress on mistakes will cause them to worry. LIBRA-The average Libran child, raised with the proper balance, is a delight to their teachers. Their minds are bright and logical, they’re fond of debate and they have great curiosity that makes them good students. However, once they start reading and learning Facts they like to argue. SCORPIO-Their teachers won’t know whether to send them to the head of class or get out the old paddle. They’ll probably end up doing both. Scorpio boys and girls have sharp, penetrating minds and uncanny perception of theories. They can be steadies on the honor roll or the biggest hooky player. SAGITTARIUS-Usually they enjoy school. Their multi-faceted intelligence and great curiosity will make learning a fascinating game, if their bright interest isn’t squelched by too much dull, boring routine and too much insistence on strict regulations, or severe, intolerant teachers. CAPRICORN-School is seldom a struggle for young Capricorns. These youngsters will be remarkably responsible about their homework. They will walk into the house, hang up their coat, and sit down immediately to tackle their lessons. AQUARIUS-Teachers often complain that the Aquarian child refuses to explain step by step, how they arrived at their remarkable answer to a complicated math problem before she’s even finished writing it on the blackboard. One word “Intuition”, because they exist in the future. PISCES-Teachers are always confused when they try to put this odd shaped peg into a round or square hole. They may not fit either. Teachers struggle with Pisces unique methods of learning and the school’s stale routine. They simply refuse to conform to a pattern not their own.
KENNETH REDD (COACH CHRONIC)... What do you get when you hear Coach Chronic? Rugged realism delivered through lyrical ease. All of this rides on top of sound production and beats that force the listener to move. Kenneth (Coach Chronic) Redd is a business minded, hip-hop thinker. At the age of 16 he completed and released his first album. He sold over 5,000 units. He describes his days of street promotions and sales as “hand to hand” combat in the fight to share his gift with the world. With his second album “Certified Hustler”, Coach Chronic doubled his sales from the 5,000 sold to 10,000 sold through self- distribution. Who were the biggest influences to Coach Chronic? Simply put Coach Chronic was moved to making music by the great lyrical icons of hip hop and rap spanning from Scarface to Jay-Z, Tupac to Eminem. The youngest of his siblings Coach Chronic was born in Dayton, Ohio and began writing at the age of 9. He is versatile and strong in delivery. Fortified with hundreds of songs ready for production, fresh out the box and ready for the world Coach Chronic (Kenneth Redd) is a lyrical revolutionary. Business minded and charismatic, Coach Chronic’s mix cds includes Str8 out Da Trunk Vol.1 & 2, and Da Certified Hustla’ Vol.1 and Da Certified Hustla Vol. 1(the Deluxe Edition). His earlier years were spent in three of Dayton’s most violent neighborhoods. Born to a single mother and a heroin addicted father, Kenneth Redd began selling drugs and guns at the early age of 12. In 2004 Kenneth Redd was incarcerated for a term of 4 years for conspiracy to distribute cocaine. While in prison, in efforts to better him self, Kenneth Redd completed his high school education and obtained other certificates keeping him true to his name “Da’ Certified Hustla’”. Then known as a highway hustler because he was quick to get on the highway and move in any state, he now takes his experiences both good and bad and expresses them through his lyrics. No longer choosing to be in the game, Kenneth Redd made the decision to coach the players. The streets gave him his full rap name “Coach Chronic Da’ Certified Hustla’”. He is to Dayton what Scarface is to Houston, what Dre’ is to Cali, a living legend in his city. Ohio State mourns the loss of Frank W. Hale Jr. Lifelong crusader for diversity in higher education and civil rights served as vice provost and professor Frank W. Hale Jr., former vice provost and professor, who dedicated his life to diversity in higher education and civil rights, died today (7/27) following an extended illness. He was 84. An advocate for higher education for 54 years as a faculty member, administrator and educational consultant, Hale dedicated 24 years of leadership to Ohio State. As associate dean and chairman of the Fellowship Committee of the Graduate School (1971-78) and vice provost for the Office of Minority Affairs (1978-1988), Hale founded the current Graduate and Professional Schools Visitation Days program implemented to increase the number of minorities seeking advanced degrees. From its inception, the program served as a national model and led to Ohio State’s long-held distinction as the highest producer of minority Ph.D students among four-year colleges and universities. Through his efforts, nearly $15 million in graduate fellowship awards were awarded to approximately 1,200 minority students, of which 80 percent earned master’s and/or doctoral degrees. His efforts in establishing undergraduate scholarship programs assisted nearly 500 students during his tenure.Hale, who retired in 1988, returned to the university in 1999 as Distinguished University Representative and Consultant for the Office of the President. He initiated the President and Provost’s Diversity Lecture and Cultural Arts Series which continues to bring eminent scholars and artist to campus. He retired in 2005.“A long-time activist, Dr. Frank W. Hale Jr., demonstrated courageous educational, religious and scholarly leadership in civil rights struggles,” said Valerie Lee, vice provost for the Office of Diversity and Inclusion, and chief diversity officer. “His life and legacy will inspire generations to come.” In recognition of his distinguished career, the Ohio State University Board of Trustees voted him vice provost and professor emeritus, naming the Frank W. Hale Jr. Black Cultural Center in his honor and designated the building as Hale Hall. An endowed scholarship has also been established in his name. Hale delivered Ohio State’s Summer Commencement address in 1988. He was honored the same year in December by the City of Columbus as 1,200 guests participated in his retirement banquet.
March 24,1927- July 27,2011 Hale’s lifelong commitment to diversity and civil rights mirrored his devotion to higher education. Behind The Wall True Love Is Love looking into a woman’s eyes and seeing all her beauty, Is Love going to your mothers house and getting your favorite meal, Is Love your 67 Mustang that you shine up and only drive on Sundays, Is Love a Diamond necklace with a matching ring he bought you on Valentines Day, Or Is Love when everyone you know shows up to your birthday party? These things are all nice but none of them are true love. In love (God), you are Blessed, Chosen, Adopted, Favored, Redeemed, and Forgiven. True Love is God! You’re Blessed because he (God) saved you, You’re Chosen because you accepted salvation, You’re Adopted to be a child of God, You’re Favored so he’ll give whatever you want, You’re Redeemed to be born again, and He’ll( God) Forgive you for all of your sins. Now that’s True Love (God)! - Anonymous

The average person gains almost a pound a day while on vacation. But that doesn’t have to be you. Most of the time extra pounds sneak up on you when you least expect it, so decide right here and now that your vacation will leave you slimmer than when you left. All you have to do is have a plan. As you embark on your next vacation adventure, use these 7 tips to come home fitter than when you left. Trick #1: Cut Your Carbs Vacation days are notorious for carbohydrate rich meals, and it’s a well-known fact that too many carbohydrates will quickly add up to unwanted pounds. Combat this fat-trap by choosing one meal per day to go carb-less. Breakfast: This may be the most effective meal to use the carb-less trick, since breakfast often involves breads, pastries or pancakes. Skip the toast and fill up on egg whites and lean breakfast meats. Lunch: A great carb-less lunch is a salad with lean meat. It’s so filling and satisfying that you won’t even miss the bread. Dinner: Since you’re on vacation, you don’t want to feel deprived, so dinner is the hardest meal to go carb-less. But if you’ve indulged at breakfast and lunch then make it a point to cut the carbs at dinner. Stick with veggies and lean meats. Trick #2: Be Active If your travels keep you too busy for a workout, or if your hotel does not have an exercise room, make a conscious effort to be active everyday. Go on a brisk walk after your day’s activities. This is a great way to see a new city, and also a great way to burn off extra calories. Take the stairs instead of elevator in your hotel and any other buildings you visit. Go on a short jog in the mornings or evenings of your stay. If your hotel has a pool, swim a few laps each morning or evening. Trick #3: Indulge with Control Eating out is a must while on vacation. Whether you’re visiting 5 star restaurants or fast food diners, you are faced with the same problem: large portions. While the easiest thing to do with a large portioned meal is to simply eat it all - you are on vacation after all...right? - that isn’t the best for your waist. When you order your meal ask the waiter or waitress to bring you a to-go box. Take half of your meal and place it safely into the box before you even begin to eat. This gives you no choice but to eat a healthy portion. If you would rather not carry around a to-go box then ask that your entrée be made into a smaller portion. If it is dinnertime ask for the lunch-sized entrée. Trick #4: Don’t Eat Late One of the easiest tricks for preventing weight loss is to simply stop eating 3 hours before you go to bed. This is especially effective while on vacation. So skip that late night indulgence and wake up looking and feeling great. Trick #5: Snack Healthy Have you ever noticed how travel days create the perfect opportunity for snacking? A coffee and muffin before your flight, a snack on the plane and then before you know it - it’s lunchtime! Taking a road trip? This opens up even more opportunities for regrettable snacking...rest stop vending machines, gas station quickie marts and of course the never ending string of fast food restaurants along the highway. This summer cut unhealthy snacking off at the pass by brining along your own healthy options. Dried or fresh fruit, unsalted nuts, health bars, cut veggies and low fat crackers are a good start. By filling up on these healthy snacks between meals you will end up eating less when presented with a less than-healthy meal.
Trick #6: Avoid Fried Foods While fast food restaurants are definitely convenient, with their low prices and quick service, this convenience is not worth the additional pounds brought on by chips and fries. As you enjoy your vacation keep this in mind: avoid fried foods. While this is always good advice to follow, it is even more important to abide by while traveling. While vacationing you will likely burn fewer calories each day than you would burn at home, and you are consuming more calories due to your schedule of eating out. You are walking a fine line, and eating fried foods would throw you right over the edge. A gram of fat contains 9 calories as compared to the 4 calories that proteins and carbohydrates carry - so you can see that consuming fried foods will drastically increase your caloric intake. If I still haven’t convinced you to pass on the curly fries, keep in mind that heartburn and indigestion are never fun...especially while on vacation! Trick #7: Team up with a Pro - Yours Truly! Well, fitness is my specialty...and since you are serious about creating a healthy and fit physique - guarantee your results by teaming up with me. Here is something that was accidentally over looked. Although Father’s Day has came and went, I wanted to share this any way. I could have waited until next year but I wanted to let Mr. Clayton Walker and any one else who reach out to me that they are sincerely appreciated. Thank you, Janice L. Carter Happy Father's Day to all of you mothers... who find yourselves being both, when there is no other......... When you stand alone while we aren't there.......... Whether we be deceased, detached, or just confined somewhere.......... Thank God that you stay strong when we are weak......... and give our children the care and guidance that they seek..... It is to you Mothers that are both Fathers too... That I truly wish, Happy Father's Day Mother's for you... C. Walker
This is an original poem that I composed for your review and possible publication or for use as a discussion piece in your Girlfriends Talk Magazine...As I have communicated in my initial contact, I am interested in writing for you in these same like themes that focus on the relationship side of us men when we are unavailable to our women and siblings...There are genuine heartfelt emotions that are shared amongst men that are rarely discussed in an open forum...Please give us a chance to have dialogue for future and mutual growth and understanding... I currently am an instructor in the Education Department at Ashland Federal Corrections, and I focus on helping our brothers obtain GED's as well as increased literacy development. This is a huge reason for the decline of our brothers in a productive law abiding society. God has placed me here for a purpose, and this is it...Contact me with any thoughts or suggestions on how I can help bridge the gap of understanding...Sincerely and until I write again -Clayton
