The inclusive, all-girl environment of Girl Scouts proved vital in 2021.

Girl Scouts takes the potential of girls, combines it with robust skill-building, and adds caring adult mentors and female role models who support and advocate for girls. It offers a safe space where girls can try new things, develop a range of skills, take on leadership roles, and just be themselves. Most of all, Girl Scouts provides a place to connect and belong when nothing seems familiar or “normal.” Certainly nothing was normal in 2021, a membership year which reflected the full, unsettling impact of the pandemic. It was far from easy to keep the heartbeat of our Movement strong, but our Girl Scout tenacity kicked in and helped us make a difference in the lives of girls. We persevered with resiliency, determination, and improvisation to serve a total membership of 42,514 girls and adults in a year like none other.
