GIRLS CHANGE THE WORLD
GIR LS OF DISTINCTION 6.4.201 6
Welcome! Girl Scouts provides girls with the opportunity to try new things, make new friends and serve the community. Over the last century, girls have honed their leadership skills to earn the highest award in Girl Scouts. While this award has gone by many names—starting as the Golden Eaglet of Merit in 1916 and becoming the Gold Award in 1980—it’s always recognized girls who take action to make our world a better place. Gold Award earners do good work in our backyard, throughout our country and across the world! Girl Scouts do good, just because - because we want to make a positive impact. All award recipients should be proud of their achievement. In order to accomplish great things in life, we need to know our own strengths and know when we need to ask for help. Thank you to the many men and women who supported and encouraged the extraordinary efforts of the extraordinary girls were are celebrating today. Congratulations to each award recipient, and I ask that you join me as we celebrate these young women who inspire and build women of distinction. We look forward to seeing how they will change the world. Yours in Girl Scouting, Deborah Hearn Smith Chief Executive Officer Curved Bar Award Recipient

Mission Girl Scouting builds girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place.
The Girl Scout Promise On my honor, I will try: To serve God and my country, To help people at all times, And to live by the Girl Scout Law.
The Girl Scout Law I will do my best to be honest and fair, friendly and helpful, considerate and caring, courageous and strong, and responsible for what I say and do, and to respect myself and others, respect authority, use resources wisely, make the world a better place, and be a sister to every Girl Scout.
4
The Girl Scout Bronze Award The Girl Scout Bronze Award is the highest honor a Girl Scout Junior can achieve. As Girl Scouts work together to plan and complete their project, they meet new people and have the kind of fun that happens when you work with other Girl Scouts to make a difference.
