We would like to start 2021 with a message of gratitude to you, our committed supporters. Over the past year, the pandemic has changed a lot in a relatively short time and we are grateful for your continued support and for helping us celebrate our 35th annual - and first virtual - Take the Lead! This past year, we shifted quickly to remain engaged with the girls, their families, and our volunteers by creating innovative virtual programs and events including Girl Scouts at Home, Camp at Home, and most recently our virtual Cookie Program! We are thrilled to recognize the leadership of our outstanding 2021 Take the Lead honorees: Dona File, Nicole Marquis, Dr. Charmaine Spence Rochester, and Leslie Stiles, who represent women’s leadership and provide the example that will encourage our girls to continue to effect change in themselves, in our communities, and our world. Take the Lead is our largest fundraising event and more important this year than ever before. By participating in this virtual event, you share our commitment to raise critical funds for Girl Scouting in Eastern Pennsylvania. Our goal is to provide all girls in our region, regardless of barriers, real or perceived, with the Girl Scout Leadership Experience (GSLE) and to be able to share opportunities to learn and thrive in a girl-led, all-girl environment where girls feel empowered to explore their full potential and discover a strong sense of self. As in previous years, our Girl Scouts are excited to participate in the festivities and serve as event hosts, presenters of awards to our fantastic honorees, chorus singers, and event curators. Take the Lead would not be possible without their months of hard work and preparation. Girls who participate in Take the Lead gain valuable skills in leadership, project and time management, networking, and presentation skills. Take the Lead participants have the confidence to see themselves at colleges and in professions that encourage their growth while making the world a better place. Thank you again for your support,

Dear Friends, Welcome to Girl Scouts of Eastern Pennsylvania’s Take the Lead 2021. This year, it is our privilege to honor four strong women: Dona File, Nicole Marquis, Dr. Charmaine Spence Rochester and Leslie Stiles. Each woman demonstrates by her leadership and achievement what it means to be a Girl Scout and we thank you for joining us in celebrating their courage, confidence, and character. We are proud to be Take the Lead co-chairs and strongly believe in the value the Girl Scouts provide in our community, in our country, and around the world. This past year has been filled with challenges. Thanks to the dedication of Girl Scouts of Eastern Pennsylvania, our girls were able to stay connected during this unprecedented year. Girls participated in virtual troop meetings, earned badges online, attended Camp at Home, and flexed their entrepreneurial skills, setting up virtual cookie booths for the first time ever! Even though our Girl Scouts have been dealing with the pandemic and all its challenges, they have continued to find ways to give back to their communities. Girls have made masks for frontline healthcare workers, wrote letters to isolated elderly people in retirement facilities, and organized food and supply drives for the increased number of families with economic challenges. Your support of Girl Scouts through Take the Lead creates opportunities for girls to learn and grow while gaining experience as empathetic leaders along the way. Thank you for your support and for attending our first ever virtual Take the Lead. Your involvement and commitment to our mission underlines the enduring impact Girl Scouts has in building the next generation of women leaders who are changing the world for the better. Sincerely,
Jackie Cuddeback Philadelphia Phillies

Nicole Marquis, Founder and CEO of HipCityVeg, was born and raised in the Philadelphia area, is a graduate of Temple University, and studied theater at the California Institute of the Arts in Los Angeles. In April 2012, after years of comprehensive preparations, Nicole opened the first HipCityVeg in Philadelphia’s Rittenhouse Square, a concept that has now grown to 8 locations. HipCityVeg offers plant-based American Classics, with some innovative twists, making delicious plant-based food convenient and affordable. The brand’s national expansion began with the opening of the first Washington, D.C. location in Chinatown in June 2016, its second in Dupont Circle in 2019, and will continue with a third coming to DC’s Navy Yard neighborhood soon. Nicole also created two full-service plant-based restaurants, the sexy cocktail lounge and small plates restaurant, Charlie was a sinner., and Bar Bombón, a Latin-inspired restaurant reminiscent of Old San Juan (a nod to her Puerto Rican heritage), both located in Philadelphia. Nicole and HipCityVeg have won several notable business awards including Greater Philadelphia Hispanic Chamber of Commerce’s Hispanic Business of the Year in 2019, Star Chef Rising Star Award Winner for Best Concept in 2019, threetime Best of Philly award winner, and Philadelphia Business Journal’s 40 under 40 Award for Nicole in 2017.

Verse 2:
Bridge:
Don't blink
Right now, I'm loving every minute
Like I'm glowing in the dark
Hands down, can't let myself forget it, no
I keep on going when it's all falling apart
'Cause everything is rushing in fast
Yeah, I know with all my heart
Keep holding on, never look back
Ooh, ooh
No, I don't want to miss it One thing, and it’s back to the beginning 'Cause everything is rushing in fast Keep going on, never look back Pre-Chorus: And it's one, two, three, four times That I'll try for one more night Light a fire in my eyes I'm going out of my mind Chorus: Whatever happens, even if I'm the last standing I'ma stand tall, I'ma stand tall Whatever happens, even when everything's down I'ma stand tall, I'ma stand tall I gotta keep on dreaming 'Cause I gotta catch that feeling Whatever happens, even if I'm the last standing I'ma stand tall, I'ma stand tall

HOW TO BUY GIRL SCOUT COOKIES DURING A PANDEMIC
Please support Troop 98010 (GSBB) through the 2021 Cookie Program. The Girl Scouts Beyond Bars program supports girls whose mothers were or are incarcerated in Philadelphia and surrounding areas. GSEP believes that all girls should have access to the life skills education, mentorship, and job training opportunities that are part of the Girl Scout Leadership Experience, regardless of each girl’s background. Supporting this troop through the Cookie Program gets them closer to these opportunities. Thank you for your support!

Powering partnerships. At PECO, we recognize that great leaders grow where diversity is
celebrated and people are empowered. That’s why we contribute more than $6 million each year to diverse programs that promote education, the environment, arts and culture, and community enrichment—like Camp Shelly Ridge and STEM programs for our
region’s Girl Scouts—giving girls the tools to make an even greater impact in their communities.
PECO is proud to partner with Girl Scouts of Eastern Pennsylvania in celebrating Take the Lead Greater Philadelphia 2021.
