Catalog Descriptions

Services, Support, and Workshops from the Department of Professional Development Type of Service Description Professional book studies are an opportunity for educators to engage in professional discourse around a specific topic of teaching and learning. Participants will commit to reading and Book Studies discuss the selected book guided by the question: “How will this book influence professional practices at both the classroom and school level?” Services designated as Campus Support are based on developing and working within Critical Friends Groups defined by The School Reform Initiative. These services utilize Campus Support intentional structures and processes, called protocols, to assist educators in giving and receiving feedback on their practice, with student improvement at the center of the work, and are led by a skilled and experienced coach or facilitator. Services designated as Professional Development are designed to be formal in‐service trainings meant to upgrade the content or pedagogical knowledge of teachers and administrators. Professional Development These sessions are designed to be implemented, supported, and evaluated through an ongoing process of feedback and continuing education. Services designated as Workshops are interactive trainings for small groups of teachers where participants carry out a number Workshops of training activities. Sessions can be open for a mixed audience or closed and tailored towards meeting the needs of a specific content group.
