GISELLE MARIE CORMIER CHAIM Architect and Urbanist based in New York City with interests and aptitudes in multiple areas and over six years of experience. B.Arch (2013) and M.Arch (2017) in National Heritage and Cultural Preservation at the University of Brasília (Brazil). Current PhD student at the University of Brasília (Brazil), with a research on the “Architecture of Diplomacy” through the analysis of Brazilian Embassies designed by modernist architects and installed abroad between 1965 and 1986. My professional experiences include an internship at Renzo Piano Building Workshop in Genoa, Italy (2013), where I worked in the projects of the New Academy of Arts, in Los Angeles, and of Sesto San Giovanni urban renewal, in Milan. I have also collaborated as a Junior Architect at the Brazilian House of Representative’s Department of Architecture and Preservation (2014-17), and in several architecture offices in Brazil. Since 2014 I am a solepratictioner with main focus on residential and hospitality renovation projects, as well as the design of artistic tiles and murals. Granted with the Barnes-de Mazia Scholarship of the Barnes Foundation (2020) for the the “Traditions of Art” course and currently registered in several on-line art courses, I am very interested in expanding my professional field into Art History, Curating, Museum Studies and Exhibitions Design.
