At the top left are symbols for the 7 days of the week (named after the planets Sun, Moon, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus, Saturn – far right the sun for Sunday, then the moon for Monday, red eye for Tuesday (Mars), Hand for Wednesday (Mercury), thunderbolt for Thursday (Jupiter), a garter for Friday (Venus) and a bundle for Saturday (Saturn) and because there are 8 planets including Rahu (this is represented by a raven’s head but missing here). Underneath these symbols are 2 snake deities or demons. On the right are winged birds and winged figures. Tibetans believe that the world is divided into 3 cosmological divisions ruled over by creatures – thus the air is ruled over by birds that fly in the sky, the earth is controlled by those that dwell on the land and the underworld is guarded by those that live under the earth or in the water.

In alto a sinistra ci sono i simboli per i 7 giorni della settimana (che prendono il nome dai pianeti Sole, Luna, Marte, Mercurio, Giove, Venere, Saturno - all'estrema destra il sole per domenica, poi la luna per lunedì, l’occhio rosso per Martedì (Marte), Mano per mercoledì (Mercurio), fulmine per Giovedi (Giove), giarrettiera per Venerdì (Venere) e un fagotto per Sabato (Saturno) e perché ci sono 8 pianeti tra cui Rahu (questo è rappresentato dalla testa di un corvo. Sotto di questi simboli ci sono due divinità o demoni serpenti, a destra uccelli alati e figure alate, i tibetani credono che il mondo sia diviso in 3 divisioni cosmologiche governate da creature - quindi l'aria è dominata dagli uccelli che vola nel cielo, la terra è controllata da coloro che abitano sulla terra e il mondo sotterraneo è sorvegliato da coloro che vivono sottoterra o nell’acqua.

This shows some of the countless deities (lha) and demons (bdud) , either human, bird or animal headed – these belong to the pre-Buddhist mythological world and its pantheon.

4. This shows the 4 symbols for the elements – the square represents earth, the circle water, the triangle fire and the crescent air.

4. Questo mostra i 4 simboli per gli elementi: il quadrato rappresenta la terra, il cerchio l’acqua , il triangolo il fuoco e la mezzaluna l’aria

This shows from the left: the 4 element symbols (as above) an arrow (right top) to represent the man of the household and underneath a spindle to represent the woman of the household.

Then come the 8 trigrams (also known as the I Ching) symbols which stand for the golden elixir of immortality. Each consists of 3 lines, some broken and some unbroken, resepectively representing yin and yang. These are related to Chinese philosophy. To the right is a square containing the 9 mewa, numbers which add up to the same total whether you do it diagonally, vertically or horizontally (also known as a magic square and used in divination and astrology to determine a person’s characteristics, life, health etc). Then on the far right are 3 demons and a masked dancer, the shaman.

5. Questo mostra da sinistra: i 4 simboli degli elementi (come sopra), una freccia (in alto a destra) per rappresentare l'uomo ancestrale e sotto un fuso per rappresentare la donna ancestrale . Poi vengono gli 8 trigrammi (noti anche come I Ching) simboli che rappresentano l'elisir d'oro dell'immortalità . Ciascuno è composto da 3 linee, alcune spezzate e alcune ininterrotte, che rappresentano rispettivamente lo yin e lo yang. Essi sono legati alla filosofia cinese. A destra c'è un quadrato contenente i 9 mewa, numeri che danno lo stesso totale se sommati in diagonale, verticale o orizzontale (noto anche come quadrato magico e usato in divinazione e astrologia per determinare le caratteristiche, la vita, la salute di una persona etc).

Poi all'estrema destra ci sono 3 demoni e un danzatore mascherato ( lo sciamano).
