UK Parliament Labour frontbenchers such as Margaret Curran and Shadow Foreign Secretary, Douglas Alexander, are amoung those tipped to lose seats. The constituancy report, conducted by Tory peer Lord Ashcroft, found that Nicola Sturgeon’s SNP were ahead in 15 of the 16 of the seats in Glasgow and Renfrewshire. The research, which focused mainly on Labour seats in areas which had a yes - or close to yes - vote in the Independence referendum last year, found only Glasgow North East likely to stick with the party.

Julie Webster of Greater Maryhill Food Bank A foodbank operator has commended the “overwhelming generosity” of the people of Glasgow who have donated thousands of pounds to the charity, after thieves broke in and ransacked their site earlier this week.
Julie Webster, who runs the Greater Maryhill Foodbank, received a call on Monday morning from a colleague to say that the charity’s storage facility had been robbed. Burglars had stolen cash, supermarket vouchers and baby clothing, which had been
donated by residents from all over the city for those in need. Ms Webster said: “I remember getting there and seeing the hole in the roof and thinking ‘they’ve never actually come through the roof have they?’.
We walked in and just saw nappies scattered all over the floor and things turned upside down. Then when I got to the office I saw the safe lying on the ground. It had been hacked open.

“There where pictures of my children on the walls in there. They were looking at photos of my kids when they were stealing that money.” In total, almost £4,000 in cash and vouchers were stolen from the safe. The money, which was intended to be given to Chelsea Sommerville – the 10-year-old injured in a car crash in nearby Castlebank Street last November, had been collected in order to give the recovering girl a holiday this summer.
CONT from page 1 “Even though someone has done something so despicable here, many people have responded by doing something wonderful. “It’s important to never let the bad overshadow the good.”
Chelsea was left with a broken leg after being hit by the car. Her friend, 11-year-old Sophie Brannan, died. Glasgow comedian Frankie Boyle, who had previously donated to the Greater Maryhill Foodbank last year, sent £5,000 to help replenish the fund, after contacting Julie personally on Monday evening to describe his heartbreak about the situation. First Minister Nicola Sturgeon also authorised a matching sum to be donated from the government’s Scottish Welfare Fund. Tesco have also said they will replace all the Tesco vouchers and clothing stolen in the robbery. Julie added: “I always believe that goodness comes to goodness.

CLYDESI
Ross Swanson Glasgow's Clydeside is set to become a safer place after police this week announced a dedicated Riverside Unit will permanently patrol the area. Police Scotland say that the eight-mile stretch of Glasgow’s River Clyde will be a safer place to live, work and visit, with patrolling officers tackling anti-social behaviour, robberies and break-ins.
The team will become a permanent fixture to the riverside following a sixmonth pilot last year where police detected almost 900 crimes in the area, a rise of 35% from the previous year. Sgt Darren Hughes, the officer in charge of the Unit, said: “Over the years, due to its location, the Clydeside is synonymous with antisocial behaviour, drugs offences and sexual crime. Certain sections also attract vulnerable people some
The distraught team continued to give out food parcels on Monday morning, despite only just having discovered the robbery. Ms Webster said that police, who had been dispatched to the scene, also helped to hand out food to residents in need. The foodbank, who have volunteers from many different backgrounds – including exoffenders – has become a community hub for many who need help in the area. Julie says that the robbery will not change her mind about helping, and working with, ex-offenders in the future. She said: “That was one person that’s done this to us. One.
“It won’t stop me doing what I’ve been doing, nor will it change my opinion that everybody deserves a chance.
of whom want to cause themselves harm. “The area patrolled by the team was originally covered by officers from five individual sub divisions each dealing with any issues or crime separately. In an effort to have a more streamlined, intelligence led approach to tackling crime, the Unit was created to act as a deterrent, positively impacting on crime as well as providing public reassurance and keeping people safe. “Since we started there has been a significant increase in detections for overall crime in the area. Last year we saw a substantial rise in the number of visitors to Glasgow for the Commonwealth Games and an increased police presence could account
“The sad thing is, if that person was really that desperate for money, he’d have been helped by us. “Will I forgive him? No. He stole from the mouths of children, and took boots and shoes from their feet too. He’ll never be forgiven for that. “I’ll do whatever I have to do with the police to bring them to justice.” Residents from across Glasgow took to social media to show support for Julie and her team. Facebook user Sylvia McGoldrick said: “I used to work in Maryhill and remember the wonderful people there. I would love to support your worthy cause.” Kirsty McHugh added: “Just wait and watch over coming weeks people of Glasgow rallying to support you. Not just Glasgow. As this is shared on social media expect donations so get fundraising page set up quickly. People want to donate. I hope these scumbags feel some sort of shame in what they have done but I doubt it.”

I will happily help out in whatever way I can. As for those who question money etc. being kept on premises, it’s very easy to ask these questions after the fact, However many volunteer based organisations/charities keep safe & secure safes etc. on their premises. So let’s stop focusing on that and think about the many people who, sadly, have to depend on GMF.” Police Scotland have confirmed they have launched an investigation into the break-in. Donations can be made directly to Greater Maryhill Foodbank at their storage unit at 61 Chapel Street, Maryhill.
Neil Martyn Ward said: “The person/s who committed this crime against the community is the lowest of the low in our society. Please, Julie and your team do not let this one rotten
for the rise in detections as well as providing public reassurance.” Police say that positive public feedback has been widely received, highlighting the impact that team has had in the Clydeside area. Councillor Gordon Matheson, Leader of Glasgow City Council, said: “Crime rates in Glasgow continue to fall thanks to the hard work of our colleagues at Police Scotland. We’re delighted to have been able to contribute towards the funding for the new Riverside Unit and I look forward to welcoming the enhanced police presence around the Clydeside.” Sgt Hughes added: “A significant amount of money has been spent on regenerating the Clydeside and the refurbishment
of areas such as the Broomielaw and the entertainment sector at the SECC and Springfield Quay making the area a more attractive area to visit and spend time. “We want to encourage communities to make use of the area and hope that the regular patrols carried out by the riverside policing team will help make sure that those who use the riverside area can do so safely and peacefully.”

Irn Bru maker AG Barr has bought cocktail company Funkin in a deal worth a potential £21m. Barr, which is based in Cumbernauld, said the deal comprises an initial £16.5m, with a further £4.5m assuming financial targets are met. The company said that cocktail consumption has become more mainstream within the UK, with consumers seeking “more differentiated drinking experiences.” AG Barr Chief Executive, Roger White said: “We are
delighted that Funkin will become part of AG Barr.
We believe that Funkin has created a unique niche in a growing market and together we can drive exciting growth in a new sub category. “We have a proven track record of acquiring and developing high growth brands such as Rubicon. Under our ownership we believe Funkin is even more strongly positioned to take advantage of a number of exciting growth opportunities.” Funkin was founded in the late 1990s and makes a range of premium cocktail solutions including fruit purees, cocktail mixers and syrups

seating and windows at either end. Glasgow’s subway is the third oldest in the world, after London and Budapest.. It has a narrower rail than most metro systems in Western Europe. Both bidders for the contract have guaranteed a unique solution to the subway’s requirements.
The driverless proposal is in the final period of a five year programme in aim of introducing new trains in a overhaul costing £300 million.
One bidder, Ansaldo, has built driverless fleets for the Copenhagen underground system - British engineering firm, Babcock, has confirmed its partnership in the bid.
Two firms are bidding for the £200m contract to build the new trains which will have advanced automatic signalling technology. SPT says there will be a decision on the contract next month.
The rival to the Italian firm is likely to be Spanish CAF, who built trams for Edinburgh and France’s tram network. It also helped in constructing Vancouver’s driverless Skytrain system.
Driverless trains are due to be on the tracks by 2020, a year before the line marks its 125th anniversary.
SPT proposes that trains will run every four minutes, with the potential for services one and a half minutes apart.
Both of the bidders have supplied driverless trains to other metros systems which have passenger

Glasgow’s subway handles around 13 million passengers a year via 15 stations. There has already been a massive renovation of its stations, with Nicola Sturgeon, then Deputy First Minister, opening the renovated Hillhead station in 2012.

Local wrestling superstar Grado overcame some tough odds this past weekend as he won his debut bout at the SSE Hydro, headlining a major international grappling event. Grado, real name Graeme Stevely, has been on a whirlwind success run since starring in the BBC’s Insane Fight Club documentary last year. His comic character has landed him roles in TV shows like Scot Squad and River City. TNA’s Impact Wrestling, considered to be second only to WWE in terms of promotion size, brought huge international stars such as Kurt Angle, Austin Aries and Matt Hardy to battle some of the country’s finest from Glasgow’s own Insane Championship Wrestling (ICW) promotion.
The portly grappler, who bested former WWE Hardcore champion Al Snow at the event on Friday 31 January, was cheered on by over 5,500 fans.

Boffins break scientific law by slowing the speed of light Phil Watson
Scientists at the University of Glasgow have this week seemingly made the impossible possible – by making light travel slower than the speed of light. The team, collaborating with the Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh, have demonstrated that the speed of light—considered to be a constant, and an underpinning of modern science—may actually differ depending on the shape of the beam it travels in. The experiment is the first of its kind to provide evidence that the shape of the beam of light may affect its speed.
University of Glasgow's Drs. Jacquiline Romero and Daniel Giovannini led the experiments, where photons — the particles that make up light — were fired both through free space and special filters designed to change the shape of the beam. The time these beams took to travel a set distance was then measured. Conventional wisdom would dictate that the times would be the same -as the speed of light is regarded as an absolute., at186,282 miles per second in free space , but this was not the case. "The delay we’ve introduced to the structured beam is small, measured at several micrometres over
a propagation distance of one metre, but it is significant", Giovanni said. Professor Miles Padgett added: “It might seem surprising that light can be made to travel more slowly like this, but the effect has a solid theoretical foundation and we’re confident that our observations are correct." That light could be made to travel at slower speeds has been suggested before in previous experiments, but this instance is the first to really examine the idea. Ulf Leonhardt at the Weizmann Institute of Science said: "This is really the first clean and clear experiment where the speed of photons in
structured light beams is directly measured." As for practical applications of the findings, in the short term they are unlikely to be groundbreaking. "I do not foresee immediate applications in the short run, but important fundamental physics always has implications and applications in the long run," Leonhardt added in confirmation. The paper, 'Spatially Structured Photons that Travel in Free Space Slower than the Speed of Light', is available in the Science Express. Phil Watson is a freelance journalist and writes things about science that would absolutely baffle anyone else in the office if they tried. This is like a free education. You're welcome.

Boy assaulted before Old Firm match-up Ross Swanson A 10-year-old boy was hit in the face with a bottle, knocking his teeth out, as he travelled to watch the Old Firm football match last weekend. Police say the boy, who was going to the game for the first time, was in a minibus sitting in traffic on Cathcart Road near Hampden Park, when he was struck by a bottle thrown into the bus by a group of men who had surrounded the vehicle. The boy was taken to Yorkhill Hospital where he was treated for a hairline fracture
to his face and three missing teeth. He has since been released. Detective Constable Kenneth MacEwan, Cathcart CID, said: “This was an appalling assault on the boy who was with his dad and fellow supporters going to his first Celtic V Rangers game. He never got to the match but instead was detained overnight in hospital and has a facial injury and teeth missing. “We do believe that this was football related.Yes, it would appear that the bottle was deliberately thrown at the mini bus, however, we don’t think the boy was specifically
targeted as such. “Obviously Cathcart Road was very busy at this time so plenty people would have been about when this happened. I would appeal to them or indeed any of the group which we believe the man was with, to contact police.” Celtic beat Rangers 2-0 in the notorious match-up, their first meeting since Rangers FC were forced into liquidation in 2012. Police say they made 37 arrests - including 12 for sectarian breach of the peace - before, during and after the game on 1 February.

Labour faces meltdown in General Election beating Ross Swanson
Lord Ashcroft, who published the report online on Wednesday, explained: “Douglas Alexander, Labour’s campaign manager and the Shadow Foreign Secretary, would lose his Paisley & Renfrewshire South seat with a swing to the SNP of 25%. Elsewhere, Salmond would be back in Westminster with a comfortable majority over the Lib Dems, and Chief Secretary Danny Alexander would lose by 29 points. “In the Labour-held seats, only 60% of those who voted Labour in 2010 said they would do so again this year; more than one third (35%) said they would support the SNP. While the Conservative vote (such as it was) has held up in these seats well, the Lib Dems have collapsed: only 12% of the party’s 2010 supporters said they would
She said on Twitter: “Difficult poll today. I’m focussing on sending the Tories packing. Glasgow can’t afford another five years of them. #VoteSNPgetTories.” However, Lord Ashcroft concluded his report by suggesting that “by no means” had all voters cemented their decision to ditch Labour. He said: “Just over two thirds (68%) of switchers from Labour to the SNP say they definitely rule out voting Labour again in 2015 – which means nearly one third are at least open to the idea of returning.”
Tattoo parlour dubbed “Nazi's” after swastika row Ross Swanson A city centre tattoo parlour was caught up in a racism row this week after being branded “Nazi's” by an irate customer. Staff at Glasgow's Forevermore Tattoo Parlour have denied the claims, stating that swastika symbols displayed in the shop are traditional symbols of peace, commonly found within the tattooing community. James Rory, the customer involved with the incident, posted on Facebook, saying: “Glasgow folks, stay away from Forevermore Tattoo. Just been in, the Nazi ****s are selling straight-up swastika jewellery in their cabinets. Not even the 'oh it's, uh, it's an ancient religious symbol' kind, the 'Ask me about being a ****ing Nazi, kind.”

vote Lib Dem again; nearly half (47%) said they would switch to the SNP.” Surprisingly, Shadow Secretary of State for Scotland, Margaret Curran, reacted to the news by showing support for the rival SNP.
A spokesperson from Forevermore Tattoo Parlour responded to the accusations, saying: “This is a very negative attack and is labelling our studio with something we find outright offensive. There is plenty of literature in books and online where you can research and educate yourself on the origins of this symbol. And if Mr Rory had taken the time to ask us we could
have explained this history and the reason we stock such jewellery. “We would never set out to offend anyone and it causes us great upset that someone could think us to be racist Nazi supporters. “As this has caused us such offence we kindly invite our friends, family, fellow tattooist, customers, anyone who knows us and the studio and anyone who feels strongly about this to have their say on this issue and help us put an end to this outright lie and horrible slander on us as a studio and as people.” Despite defending the controversial icon, Forevermore Tattoo have announced that they will no longer stock items displaying the swastika. The swastika symbol dates back thousands of years and was considered by many to be the ultimate sign of peace, until it's adoption by the Nazi Party in 1920. Despite many campaigns to 'reclaim the swastika' under it's original peaceful meaning, the symbol remains an unacceptable image to most.

National News Studies reveal ½ of Scots will Paedophile caught by 'vigilante' group David Stewart
develop cancer David Stewart Half of all Scots will be diagnosed with a form of cancer in their lifetime, studies have revealed this week. Cancer Research UK said studies lead to suggestions that more than one in three people will develop cancer. The research group reached the figures using its new calculation method.
A paedophile has been caught by vigilante informants after they posed online as a 14-year old girl. The activists, operating under the name ‘Dark Justice’, snared paedophile Roger Lee after he travelled over 300 miles from Basingstoke to Newcastle to meet a girl he met online.
sentencing powers were reduced due to there being no actual child involved.
But on reaching the meeting point at Newcastle’s Quayside, he was confronted by vigilante paedophile hunters using a camera.
Defence advocate, Andrew Walker, said: “There was no child anywhere near this offence or this offender.”
Lee has a previous conviction for getting a twelve-year-old pregnant, for which he was jailed for two years and four months.
Lee was given a sexual offences prevention order, placed on the sex offenders register, and had his license extended until 2020.
He pleaded guilty attempting to meet a juvenile following online grooming. Judge Sean Morris said Lee, 45, was a serious threat to children but
The duo who snared Lee, known only by the name ‘Dark Justice’ said they were not vigilantes, rather “citizens of society.”
Longer life expectancies also mean that more people will be around to develop the disease. But the predictions are not pre-determined, since diet and lifestyle changes could have a huge benefit in avoiding a cancer diagnosis. Quitting smoking and losing weight are highlighted as necessary moves to reverse the trend. But in positive news survival rates are rising too. A more accurate formula in calculating projected cancer diagnoses is behind the new statistics. The previous method of analysing cancer trends also predicted a worrying increase in cancer diagnoses in the UK. However, both old and new methods
Scottish Government ends automatic early prison release David Stewart
The First Minister has announced that automatic early release will end for prisoners jailed for over four years. Prisoners having served half their sentence may under currently apply for parole and may be released after twothirds of their sentence. Critics are worried that keeping prisoner in custody for their full term could have a negative effect on rehabilitation. But First Minister Nicola Sturgeon has responded to concerns by guaranteeing that prisons guilty of grave
offences will be supervised on re-entering the community. The Prisons (Control of Release) Scotland Bill is in process through parliament. The bill’s aims include narrowing the scope for early release for prisoners convicted of serious offences. The plans follow the scrapping of plans for a new a women’s prison in Greenock, intended to replace Cornton Vale, due to close in 2018. Ms Sturgeon said: "We recognise that tough action is required to tackle those offenders who commit the most serious crimes, ensuring that communities are kept safe while at the same
time making efforts to reduce the likelihood of re-offending." The Scottish Tories argue the proposals are a soft touch. John Lamont, Conservative Chief Whip, said: "This is clearly welcome news but it still falls short of what the SNP has been promising to do since first getting elected in 2007.”
show the same long-term trend - a rise in cancer diagnosis projections. Around 54% of men will receive this bad news in their life time, with woman fairing not much better at 48% - according to Cancer Research UK’s new figures. Professor Peter Sasieni, Queen Mary University London, said the rates were not an inevitability. “There is quite a lot we can do to prevent cancer and hopefully in many years’ time I’ll have been proven completely wrong.” The professors refers to lifestyle changes, including reducing red meat in diet, losing weight, and quitting smoking – all have a role in affecting the chances of an individual developing cancer. Lung cancer continues to increase amongst women. But the most common cancer diagnosis for women is breast cancer and is likely to remain so, figures say. Professor Peter Sasieni told the BBC that healthy changes to lifestyle could reduce the risk of cancer by 20%. Figures show that prostate and breast cancer will likely stay the most common cancers amongst men and women respectively.
But other cancers are becoming more common and at an alarming rate. Neck and head cancers caused by the virus papillomavirus are increasing, with oral sex thought to be a persistent cause. Chief executive of Cancer Research UK, Dr Harpal Kumar, said: “We have reached what many would regard as an important milestone. “We need to plan ahead to make sure the NHS is fit to cope, if the NHS doesn’t act and invest now, we will face a crisis in the future with outcomes from cancer going backwards.” Lisa Adams of Cancer Research in Scotland said: “Research is driving up cancer survival but the figures released today show that significant challenges lie ahead. With more of us being diagnosed with cancer in future, there’s still so much more to do. “That’s why we’re calling on people across Scotland to get a Unity Band or make a small donation to Cancer Research UK. A small gesture like this can make a truly big difference and help ensure that more families stay together for longer.”
Scots teenager dies after raising £44,000 for charity David Stewart Scots teenager dies after raising £44,000 for charity David Stewart A 15-year-old Scottish teenager has died of cancer, having raised £44,000 for research into the disease. His family set up a page on the fundraising website Justgiving to raise money for research into lymphoma and leukaemia. So far the public have donated over £44,000. The passing of the West Lothian’s teenager was announced on Monday by his mother, writing on the Facebook page ‘Jack’s Journey.’ She wrote: “Devastated and heartbroken to say my beautiful boy’s gone to Heaven, God bless. Jak I am the proudest Mummy ever xxx. Simply the best xxx.” Jak managed to attend his school
prom at West Calder high school in Livingston on Saturday but felt so ill that he could only stay for ten minutes. Friends commended his determination in attending the prom in the face of serious illness. One Facebook user wrote:
“This lad was a true example of why life should lived in full and every day should be treated as a gift.”

ThinxBig Think Big! Popular English ‘plus size’ retailers ThinxBig recently opened their first store in Scotland and deciding Glasgow was the perfect place has proved to be a successful choice.
The Blackpool-based company supply extra large ‘bigman’ clothing such as large waist jeans and kingsize T-Shirts (up to 8XL) for customers who struggle to find clothes that fit comfortably in most shops. The new store, in Glagow’s East end Tollcross area,
launched late last year, and has been a huge success since it opened its doors.
Fashionable named brands on sale include: Life & Limb, FuBu, Ben Sherman, Rockford and many more. ThinxBig also import specialised plus-sized clothing from the US, which is available in-store and on the company’s website (www.thinxbig.co.uk). The company’s spokesman, Jim Ali, said: “We decided to open in Glasgow around a year ago. Having had an enormous amount of feedback from
our customers coming down to Blackpool, they told us there were no shops like ours in Scotland.
A lot of people said it was hard from them to buy online as other company’s would frequently let them down on quality, sizing & price. It became clear to us Scotland needed a shop like ours.” “It will be our policy to employ local people,” he continued, “we hope to help revive this part of Tollcross and hopefully encourage other shops to open in the area. “Our current visitors from Scotland to
our Blackpool store have been amazed at our ‘old fashioned’ style of friendly service, which we offer along with our up-to-date – and reasonably priced fashion.

“We discovered a high percentage of our customers were either disabled or had other medical problems, and we try to help how we can. Sometimes it’s more like a social meeting place than a shop. We always try to make every one as comfortable as possible. “I hope we will bring our type of humour and
ThinxBig say they hope to open more stores across Scotland in the future, and will also be launching a loyalty card where points can be redeemed for discounts on purchases. Card holders will also be offered exclusive deals on some items, well below retail price.

WHAT NOT TO MISS...
Broadchurch STV
Series 2 Episode 6 9th February - 2100 Pouting drama queen Claire Ripley once more falls under the spell of her Sexy-Vesty husband Lee. She just can’t help herself and they are at it, alfresco, once again. “When I see him, I lose myself,” she trembles, like a fey heroine from a Barbara Cartland novel, prompting sensible Ellie to tell it like it is: “Oh please, have a little self control.”
Inside the Commons BBC2
‘Upstairs, Downstairs’ 10th February - 21:00 In the second episode of this major four-part series, presenter Michael Cockerell explores the upstairs-downstairs world of the House of Commons. We see what goes on backstage at the state opening, when the Queen comes to open the parliamentary year, including a surreal traditional search for gunpowder. Behind the pomp and pageantry, we meet the army of skilled workers who struggle to keep the Commons show on the road. We follow MPs who want to introduce their own bills in the Commons and have to play a bizarre form of parliamentary bingo to get the chance. And we show how Labour and Conservative MPs conspire together to thwart their party whips.
Yes, there’s bad sex and too many shots of characters standing moodily on hillsides/on the beach, for no reason. But Broadchurch’s heart still beats loudly, thanks to bereaved parents Mark and Beth Latimer, and Ellie Miller. All three are put through the wringer in court – and I must say once again that Andrew Buchan is heartbreakingly good – but Ellie (Olivia Colman) comes out of it stronger and very determined. If you expect me to write off Broadchurch, then think again. It still hums with explosive moments, and this episode’s cliffhanger is a

Alicia must also find a new source for Cary’s bail money, which is withdrawn after she is unable to prevent Bishop getting subpoenaed over Finn’s source of funds dispute. Kalinda’s investigation into the wire recording that implicates Cary takes a bad turn as one witness is killed by Bishop, who mistook him for the confidential informant. Diane, on the verge of retiring from Lockhart/Gardner & Canning, attempts to get a partner, Dean, to come with her to Florrick/Agos. Eli, meanwhile, now having Peter’s approval to pursue Alicia’s State’s Attorney campaign, again tries to convince Alicia to run.

The Shackled Gentleman’s guide to Valentine’s Day.
Single bloke’s guide to Valentine ’s Day.
Saturday morning: You wake up next to the one you love, you don’t mind that she’s elected to also take over most of your side of the bed, you love her. Very quietly, as not to wake your princess, get up and make her breakfast in bed, take it through and wake her with a gentle kiss on the cheek, whilst presenting breakfast.
Saturday morning: It’s just the same as February the 7th, January 31st etc. Start the day with a nice roll and bacon and a bowl of cereal. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day after all. Then head back to bed for an extra hour or two sleep
Saturday Lunchtime: Football, shmootball! You don’t want to watch that, not when you can spend time with your better half. It’s probably best to treat TLOYL (the love of your life) to an afternoon of shopping. Who cares if there is a mid-day match on, you get to sit outside numerous changing rooms all day, before going back to the first one! (We’ve all been there)
Saturday Lunchtime: It’s probably time to get up now, there’s a couple of early kick offs in the football.
Saturday mid-afternoon: You should have pre-booked your eatery for tonight, so this is where you tell TLOYL that you’re going to a nice restaurant (you did book a nice one!) To make her look even more beautiful than she already is, you have paid for her to have her hair and nails done. Don’t go to the pub whilst she is getting treated, just wait with her, hold her bags etc. Saturday evening: Dinner time! Yes, you booked the Table for 7pm, don’t worry that it’s now 8pm and TLOYL is trying on her third dress of the night, ditching the one she bought earlier as it ‘doesn’t match these shoes’. She’s doing all this because she loves you, and you’re not really that hungry anyway. ‘Cheeky Nandos’ it is then. Saturday night: Ignore those calls from your mates, you don’t want to go the Casino. Instead you are having a great night at Bamboo, paying over the odds for an imported draught lager, and an over-priced French Martini. Don’t worry though, it will all be worth it when you get home and she slips in to that lovely number you got her from Ann Summers. You only waited 2 hours to flag a taxi down, it’s 3am you’re home, you’re excited. You go to the kitchen to get a couple bottles of water, you head back to the bedroom, you know what’s waiting on the other side of the door; TLOYL in THAT outfit from Ann Summers, you open the door……… She’s sleeping, fully clothed, snoring – Happy Valentine’s Day!
Saturday mid-afternoon: It’s that special time of the day, probably the best part of Valentine’s day for any single bloke; it’s time to get your football coupon on, then get back home and listen to Jeff and the guys at Sky Sports take you through the afternoon. Saturday early evening: This is when you have to plan ahead, pre-book your meal for one for later from the local take away vegetable pakora, chicken curry, fried rice and a poppadum – usually about £6.95 Saturday evening: Turn the T.V on, as soon as you hear Paddy McGuinness say “no likey, no lighty” it’s time to hit the input button on the ‘doofer’, yes, it’s the moment you’ve been waiting for all day….. FIFA 15 time. Saturday night: It’s getting late now, been playing FIFA 15 for a few hours, you’ve shown Ronaldo and Messi who IS the greatest player on the planet, so it’s probably time to think about bed and a movie. It is Valentine’s Day after all, so get your bedtime boxers on, grab the dvd ‘doofer’ and put on the only movie that a bloke wants to watch on Valentine’s Day The Notebook .......... Rocky IV.
Happy Valentine’s Day!

Petty criminal Eggsy (Taron Egerton) is bright but troubled. Luckily, his father once saved the life of impeccably dressed secret agent Harry Hart (Colin Firth). Hart decides to repay the debt by recruiting Eggsy to his elite independent international intelligence organisation known as the Kingsmen. The uncouth young protege is entranced by all the amazing weapons and gadgets he’ll get to play with, which even include a killer umbrella! But first he has to undergo a rigorous training regime.
The risque publishing sensation about a kinky relationship springs to life on the big screen. Virginal student Anastasia Steele (Dakota Johnson) goes to interview wealthy, handsome, charismatic entrepreneur Christian Grey (Jamie Dornan). The attraction between them is immediate and electric. But Ana learns that Christian is only interested in a relationship on his own controlling terms. As they embark on an intense and passionate affair, he introduces her to his dark and very particular tastes.
Johnny Depp stars in a fabulous comic romp about a debonair rogue sent to recover a stolen painting. A priceless Goya masterpiece disappears after being sent for cleaning. Inspector Martland (Ewan McGregor) calls in the only man who can track it down. Aristocratic, moustachioed art dealer and notorious scoundrel Charlie Mortdecai (Johnny Depp) agrees to take on the task for queen and country - plus travel and living expenses and reasonable overheads.
Mila Kunis and Channing Tatum star in a spectacular, cosmos-spanning sci-fi adventure from the directors of ‘The Matrix’. Jupiter Jones (Mila Kunis) always dreamed that she was destined for great things. But the reality of her life sometime in the far future is that of a downtrodden toiler cleaner. Enter Caine (Channing Tatum) - a genetically engineered former military hunter who has arrived on Earth specifically to track her down.
And now a sinister new global foe has emerged in the form of unspeakably evil Valentine (Samuel L. Jackson). Like the hit ‘Kick-Ass’, this hyper-real, stunt-filled espionage yarn is adapted by Jane Goldman from a comic book by Dave Gibbons and Mark Millar. Completing the reunited creative team is director Matthew Vaughn, whose credits also include ‘X-Men: First Class’.
Now she finds herself exploring her own desires for the first time. Having sold more than 90 million copies in e-book and print, E.L. James’s worldwide bestseller is a genuine publishing phenomenon. ‘Nowhere Boy’ director Sam Taylor-Wood helms this eagerly anticipated steamy adaptation. Jamie Dornan from TV’s ‘The Fall’ makes a sleek and manipulative Christian Grey. Fellow rising star Dakota Johnson is perfectly cast as Ana - the innocent woman on an extraordinary erotic journey.
So begins a crazy adventure that sees Mortdecai and his trusty manservant Jock Strapp (Paul Bettany) dodging an international terrorist and angry Russians as they find themselves on the trail of Nazi gold! Director David Koepp reunites with his ‘Secret Window’ star Johnny Depp for this deliciously campy comedy adapted from Kyril Bonfiglioli’s cult novels. The cast also includes Gwyneth Paltrow as Mortdecai’s domineering wife Johanna and Olivia Munn as an American woman with designs on his body!
Addressing her as “your majesty”, he reveals that she is at the heart of a war between powerful rival galactic dynasties. Currently, the malevolent Balem (Eddie Redmayne) owns the title to Earth. Jupiter’s genetic signature reveals that it is her birthright. The scene is set for a spectacular battle for the planet! More than a decade on from the ground-breaking ‘Matrix’ trilogy, the Wachowski siblings reclaim their sci-fi crown with this epic space opera thrill ride. Watch out for the cameo by Terry Gilliam

LIPS ARE MOVIN’ megan trainer talks
Drake Wisemill
It's been merely a year since Meghan Trainor was plucked from obscurity and signed a major record contract. But the 'All About That Bass' singer has already become one of the world's biggest pop sensations. The 21-year-old, who has been nominated for two Grammy Awards this weekend, appears to be going from strength to strength. So how does she feel about her whirlwind 12-month success story?
“It's Epic,” says Meghan emphatically. “A person who makes music only dreams…dreams in life are to get Grammy’s! To win it is a whole other game, but just to be nominated...for the rest of my life I’ll be introduced as ‘Grammy nominated Meghan Trainor’. That’s fricking epic!”
soulstress, as she explains: “I remember the only time that I got really weirded out was, I was home and I went to a sushi place. I walk in and ‘Lips Are Movin’ is playing and five minutes later ‘...Bass’ plays, and then ‘Lips...’ plays again. And I was just like ‘damn I’m famous. Like it’s real’.”
dreams,” she says with a smile. “They all tell me that, they’re like, ‘you accomplished what we try to do every day’ Because as songwriters, our goal is for other popular singers to sing our songs, but the real goal inside is we want to be singing these ourselves.”
Meghan, who hails from Massachusetts on the East side of the US, says she has been writing music since she was 11. She claims that her Father's enthusiasm for music influenced her choice of pursuing a career within the industry. However, she was quick to point out that he'd have willingly supported her no matter what her chosen path was.
“We [along with co-writer Kevin Kadish] did ‘All About That Bass’ and we actually shelved it. I was like ‘cool song, whatever. No ones gonna hear this. No pop star can sing this because they’re all fricking size zero’s and no one can rap and sing’. So the fact that this was probably the biggest song of my life, it was one of those...I had no clue how huge it would be.”
“It’s amazing though. It’s one of those things that at 21-years-old, I can say I’ve been to Australia, Germany, Italy, Sweden and the UK. Most people my age can’t say that. They can say they’ve studied abroad, but only in one place.”
“Yeah, he was a band teacher at one point but he has always said ‘make sure whatever job you choose, just be the best at it’. So he’ll always win like ‘the best jeweller on Nantucket’ and then getting the Grammy’s I’m kinda like, 'best song of the year', Dad. I Did it!” Of course, Meghan's choice to chase her popstar dreams appear to have worked out quite well. Her songwriting background certainty seems to have helped her to catapult past many of her peers in the notoriously competitive music industry.
Taking to fame has however showed signs of a challenge for the young
“All my friends are songwriters and producers and I’ve lived all their
“What you hear on the track is the same as the demo was,” she states flatly. “No auto-tune or anything. I walked out of the studio and that’s what I heard. That’s what’s plays everyday.” Meghan says she has a broad set of influences which help her create her unique mix of doowop and hip-hop. From Frank Sinatra to T-Pain, the talented youngster seems to be able to absorb elements from all sorts of contrasting styles to add to her compositions. Most notably as an influence, perhaps, is her love of fellow soul megastar, Michael Bublé. “I’m obsessed with him,” she says excitedly. “One of

my goals in life, like off my bucket list, was to make sure Michael Bublé knew I existed. The fact that he sang my song...I almost died!”
“I saw it on Instagram and I remember I was laying in bed and I just got up and said ‘MUM did you see it?’ she was like ‘I SAW IT, I SAW IT!’.” “I’ve been to five concerts ever, maybe,” she continues, “and his was one and I cried. I was like ‘oh he’s so good on track, he’s probably terrible live’. But he was better live.” So given that 2014 was such a huge year for Meghan, what does 2015 hold for pop's newest megastar? “I've got a huge UK tour in April. There's the Grammy’s! It’s just, it’s gonna be my year to really let people start to know Meghan Trainor, and who she is, and what she’s about. I’m so excited. 2014 was pretty epic…”
Meghan Trainor will play the O2 ABC on 10 April – Tickets are available from the box office.

It’s a haunting dreamlike track awash with synths, harp, minimalist beats and Emmy’s vocal delivery as beautiful as ever. Great video for it too!
After no new music in thirteen years since Druqks was released in 2001, Richard D James had hinted that we would very quickly hear more new material after Syro was released last September to critical acclaim. There are 13 tracks on this EP/album ranging from ‘disk aud1_12’ at 9 seconds to ‘diskhat ALL prepared1mixed 13’ at 5:22. The electronic tracks come with all the dark menace and foreboding skittish beats fans have grown to love. Punctuated by a couple of his more melodic piano compositions, including ‘piano un10 it happened’ (which is up there with ‘Avril 14th’) the album changes tempo throughout. Knowing how prolific he is and after 13 years away he must be sitting on a National Library’s worth of material. We want more!
Gig of the week: (Nice ‘n’ Sleazys) The Everlasting Foodbank Benefit Gig (Hosted by Jim Gellatly) feat. Mickey 9’s, We Came From Wolves and Enemies of the State (Saturday 31st January) This is going to be a BIG year for local Glaswegian quartet and fellow Yellow Movement pioneers, Mickey 9’s. With their debut album launch to come and the backing of a fanatical following, they have a tight live performance and the songs to reach a wider audience. Like a funk fusion of Daft Punk (at their Robot Rock best), Soulwax and Rage Against The Machine they power through each song with chuddering guitar riffs and pounding drums as the crowd get on down with their funky selves on the dancefloor. Dropping in two new tracks, ‘The Superman’ and ‘Soundhaus Hahaha’ (yes, THAT Soundhaus underground clubbers) alongside their established favourites it was great to see them back in a Glasgow live venue. To sum up, tune after tune!
Be sure to get yourself along to McChuills in Glasgow on Saturday 28th February for their single launch with Victorian Trout Conspiracy and Edinburgh Yellow Movement stalwarts Jamie & Shoony supporting. Free entry too! If you are a Glasgow or Ayrshire band with a new single or album out or any live dates coming up please get in touch via the contact details below and I’ll do my best to give you a review in future columns. After a very busy 2014; from releasing our debut album, Party To Make Music To Party To Make Music To Party To Make Music To Part 1, in May to headlining the Barrowland Ballroom in December for Savifest, Colonel Mustard & The Dijon 5 will be back on the live music scene in May with our first confirmed festival, Knockengorroch in Dumfries & Galloway. We picked up a lot of new fans last year and the 6th Dijon are growing in number. Along with some other amazing local bands; Mickey 9’s, Girobabies, Jamie & Shoony and The Twistettes (to name a few) we have bandied together under the Yellow Movement umbrella to inject some positivity, sunshine and laughter into peoples lives through the medium of music. This is our manifesto: Laugh until you no longer know what it is to hate, release your soul, determine your own fate, lose your self consciousness,
find anonymous awesomeness, in bottomless thoughtfulness, lose your inhibitions, forget the distractions, take non-violent direct action, be your own improvement, use your illusion. You are never alone, anyone can happen, be the best you, you can be. This is the blueprint, we are the nuisance, the fluent union of amusement. The Yellow Movement, the evolution revolution, a symbiosis of (un) conscious and conscience........ do join us! Now that we are into February I think everyone's full attention is now very much on Valentine's day....and if it's not it should be. Is it cheesy? Of course it is, but I say what is wrong with a bit of cheese and schmaltz every now and again. Why not just embrace the cheese and treat your other half to a delicious meal out by booking one of these amazing restaurants, if you manage to get a booking at one of these places on Valentines night trust me it will get you MAJOR brownie points. The Hutecheson on Ingram Street is a sure bet for a fantastic night. I've had dinner here a few times now and every time it has been exceptional. Their valentine menu is a 3 course offering for £45.95 and is based around sharing each course. The trio of starters looks delicious, this is followed by one of their amazing Chateaubriand to share. For dessert special mention has to do to the Grande Dessert which includes - Chocolate Marquise, White Chocolate Cheesecake and a Sables of fresh Strawberries. What's not to love about this dessert? It's also worth noting that they will also have their full a la carte menu available on the evening as well. The Gannet in Finnieston is definitely one of my favourite restaurants in the city. Now if you have never been to the Gannet before...where have you been? The quality of food that they serve is right up there with the best in the city, in fact just 6 months ago they were awarded a prestigious Bib Gourmand award in the Michelin’s Guide. The guys at The Gannet are not only treating us to a special menu on Valentines night but are doing a special 3 course set Valentines lunch including a glass of bubbles on Sunday the 15th, for those of you who perhaps are working on Saturday night or can't get a babysitter. Mother India on Sauchiehall Street are a sure bet for great consistent indian food in the city. This restaurant is ideal for those who shy away a little from obvious romantic spots. The manager likes to keep things in the restaurant at a consistent high standard and doesn't want to do a special valentines menu, instead they are offer their customers their regular (awesome) a la carte menu along with a few specials on the evening. While I enjoy a special menu for valentines night I also like this attitude of 'we do what we do and we do it very well'. I think this would be an ideal valentines night spot. It wouldn't be a Valentines write-up with out including at least one Italian. For me there is only one restaurant I could possibly include, my favourite hidden gem in the city is the wonderful Don Costanzo on Woodlands Crescent in the west end. The Don and his team of amazing staff make you feel like family the minute you walk in the door. If you are looking for some unassuming but delicious authentic food on Valentines night I definitely can't recommend them enough. They are offering their normal a la carte menu on the night along with a section of specials. As a little tip when every I eat here I always order one of the specials and they are always exceptional. Whatever you end up doing for Valentines day and whoever you spend it with I hope you have a great day filled with lots of decadent lush food.

Duck breast with passion fruit sauce and crushed potatoes For that romantic night in on Valentine’s day why not try this simple but effective recipe. Pair this beautifully cooked duck breast with a remarkable passion fruit. Crushed potatoes provide a hearty companion to the duck, and you can serve the dish with lightly cooked green beans, When choosing a whisky for the passion fruit sauce, choose a whisky with lighter, sweeter notes; Irish whiskey would be the recommendation, possibly a Jameson.
Ingredients Seared duck breast 2 Gressingham duck breasts salt pepper Passion fruit sauce: 2 passion fruits 1 star anise 40ml of whisky 50ml of maple syrup 5g of black treacle Crushed new potatoes: 250g of new potatoes butter 1 bunch of chives, finely chopped Salt
Directions Start with the passion fruit sauce by cutting the fruit in half, remove the pulp and seeds and flesh from inside and place in a small saucepan Next, add the whisky and star anis and bring to the boil. The whisky may flambé, allow the alcohol to burn off and remove the pan from the heat until the flame burns out. At this point, feel free to have a small glass of the Whiskey, with just a couple of ice cubes. Now add the maple syrup and black treacle and bring back to the boil. Remove from the heat to allow the ingredients to infuse. Reheat the sauce when ready to serve Wash and place the new potatoes into a suitable sized pan, cover with cold water and bring to the boil. Cook for about 10-15 minutes of until tender. Strain and leave to cool slightly While the potatoes are cooling, place the duck breast on a chopping board, skin side up and using a sharp knife, score the skin in a diagonal direction. Then turn the duck breast around and score in the opposite direction Season the duck breast with a salt and black pepper. Heat an oven proof frying pan on a high heat. Once the pan is very hot place the duck breast, skin side down, into the dry pan. Reduce the heat so that it gently fries and cook for 5 minutes until golden brown Preheat the oven to 190˚C/gas mark 5. Transfer the frying pan into the oven and cook the breast for 3 minutes on one side, then turn the duck breast over and cook for another 3 minutes Remove from the oven and transfer the breast onto a board or plate and allow to rest in a warm place for a good 5 minutes While the duck is resting, heat a large frying pan on a medium heat and add a large knob of butter. As soon as the butter begins to foam, add the potatoes, slightly crushing each one in your hand before adding into the pan Toss the potatoes in the warm butter and season with salt to taste. Remove the pan from the heat and add in the chives just before serving alongside the carved duck breast and hot passion fruit sauce. And there you have it, in only 50 Minutes you’ve cooked the ideal Valentine’s meal for your partner. Compliment this dish with a nice fruity red wine. The Hahn Estate Pinot Noir 2010 would be my recommendation; it’s an unusually well-priced pinot from Monterey in California

FORBIDDEN FRUIT VALENTINES 2015
Something a little different.... Ross Swanson While most couples around the city will be either snuggled up on the coach or gazing lovingly into each other’s eyes over an extravagant meal this Valentines day, there is a growing percentage who are looking for something a little bit more...alternative. This Valentines night, Club Noir once again host their annual Forbidden Fruit burlesque and cabaret club night. Fans of all things dark and erotic are likely to be enticed by the event’s goings-on. Among the evening’s attractions are: pin-up girls, femme fatales & other ‘ambient acts’, live music (courtesy of Glasgow’s own Dirty Diamond and the Gunslinger) & DJs, and a load of other things we aren’t allowed to print - it’ll involve a lot of leather and rubber though, we assure you.
“Ach just go. Trust me – there is a big wink and a smile with every naughty little thing we do. If you’re shocked you’ll be laughing at the same time. We are first and foremost a burlesque night, so there is never anything too extreme. Class and panache always comes first. “You can dress to the theme, or just dress up any way you wish. Anything goes.”
Club Noir’s Valentines Forbidden Fruit takes place at the O2 Academy, Saturday 14 February – Tickets are available from the box office, priced £15.50. CLUBNOIR.CO.UK
GINA REVIEWS... Everyone loves a facial and there are so many treatments available nowadays it can be a challenge to pick the right facial for ‘your’ skin. From snails on your face (the latest trend) to chocolate covered cheeks, what really gives you the perfect facial? For me, if my skin feels smooth and radiant at the end of any treatment then I am satisfied. Also, the price is important. I don’t want to add a ‘t’ to the end of skin at the end of a session.
During this exquisite treatment I really felt as if every single muscle had been given an injection of something to make my skin glow. It was so radiant. Overall, a truly relaxing experience with glowing results.

I love the smell of ginseng and the moment the lotions and potions were massaged into my skin, I could feel every cell, every muscle, relax and absorb the healing ingredients. This happened after a deep exfoliation, preparing my skin for this ultimate experience in skincare. Did you know that it takes more muscles to frown than it does to smile? Maybe that’s why laughing is so easy! I doubt you will laugh during this kind of facial but you will certainly be smiling at the end of it. A wee facial fact for

Club Noir takes all the hard work off his shoulders. “At Club Noir you can get dressed up – there’s no bigger turn-on than seeing your beloved all dolled up. Have fun with the walkabout acts. See the burlesque shows. Then when the night finishes at three AM, whisk your loved one home to recreate the burlesque acts you saw on stage!! Hot stuff.
For those feeling pensive about delving into the decadent world of burlesque for the very first time, Tina has this to say:
you, your face has about 43 muscles in it. They all need attention if you want to retain a youthful complexion.
In terms of radiance and luminosity of the skin, this treatment is sure to banish your winter dullness and prepare your skin for spring.
Sothys (www.sothys.co.uk) has launched an energising range with Siberian ginseng. This ultimate treatment from the leaders in skincare technology and research have found Siberian ginseng (regarded as the secret plant of the Russians) has the ability to revive, revitalise and restore your skin back to its natural beauty and overall improve the appearance of your skin. Well, did it work for me?
Tina Warren, who runs the Club Noir events, said: “Valentines can seem so samey. Hand-holding over a candlelit dinner for two. There is a real pressure on men to deliver a special night for their lady.
“There is always something interesting happening. We have a solos scheme where those who have no like-minded glamour buddies can go on their own. I’ve heard of a lot of folk making new friends from that last Valentines, and have just heard of a couple who got engaged.”

TRENDING Microsoft nail the coffin shut on Internet Explorer Ross Swanson
App of the week: Jump Car
Bill Gates “concerned” by AI threat
Available on Google Play and iOS App Store: £Free
Ross Swanson

Microsoft founder Bill Gates has dramatically contradicted his colleague Eric Horvitz’s claim that artificial intelligence (AI) could never harm human beings, saying that the risk of computers turning on us is potentially very real
Fledgling web browser Internet Explorer is finally being laid to rest by tech tycoons Microsoft, it was announced this week – well, kind of.
During an “ask me anything” question and answer session on popular website Reddit, Mr Gates
The company say that while the current version of the browser will be included on their new Window’s 10 operating system – released later this year - it will no longer be the default program for internet use. Instead, Microsoft say that their new ‘Spartan’ program will take up the mantle. Not much information about ‘Spartan’ is known at present, but rest assured that you won’t really need to know as you’ll carry on using Chrome anyway. Despite having 11 different releases during its almost two-decade long lifespan, IE has long considered to be passé, with rival browsers like Mozilla’s Firefox and Google’s market-leading Chrome offering users more features and a far faster websurfing (remember when that term used to sound cool?) experience. Let’s face it, they only time any of us have used Internet Explorer in the past 10 years is to download something better when setting up a new computer.
Another week has passed and another ‘Flappy Bird’ styled mobile game has filled my spare time with equal parts rage and joy over the past seven days.
Never before has the phrase “go on then, one more shot” been uttered more in my otherwise ‘busy’ mind.
Ketchapp’s insanely addictive Jump Car is about as simple as it gets in terms of gameplay and will get you completely hooked from the moment your finger first presses against the screen.
However, this is a standard complaint for most free mobile games these days and apparently is just something we’re supposed to accept. Subtly is seemingly a lost art.
You’re tasked with navigating your constantly side-to-side moving car up a system of never ending platforms, all the while avoiding the hazardous traffic in your way. Hit another car and it’s GAME OVER. Simple. That’s literally it. Like the aforementioned Flappy Bird (and the endless clones its creation has spawned) the simplicity in the ‘pick-up-andplay’ mechanics are what make Jump Car so addictive.
The app’s only major drawback is the its annoying insistence in forcing pop-up ads in your face inbetween each bout.
My high-score on Jump Car stands at 37. That’s 37 consecutive traffic-laden, nail biting, hair pulling platforms successful conquered.
I’ve never worked so hard at anything in my life.

That should be positive if we manage it well. “A few decades after that though the intelligence is strong enough to be a concern. “existential threat” mankind could possibly face. Speaking at a talk to students last year, he said: “With artificial intelligence, we are summoning the demon. “In all those stories where there’s the guy with the pentagram and the holy water, it’s like yeah he’s sure he can control the demon. Didn’t work out.” The idea of ‘robots gone bad’ is nothing new in science fiction, or fact for that matter. Current cinema release Ex Machina and this summer’s coming blockbuster The Avenger’s: Age of Ultron both centre around soured relationships between humans and machines. While Gates’ revelation shouldn’t cause any immediate panic, it would be wise to run like hell if anyone asks you the whereabouts of anyone named “John Connor”. Being suspicious of muscular blokes with thick Austrian accents might not be a bad idea either.

World Wacky Web Greedy git hunted after £2.5k of chicken stolen from fast food joint Ross Swanson A fast food fanatic is being hunted by police after CCTV footage showed him allegedly stealing over £2,500 worth of chicken wings, ribs and fries. Guess where? Yep, America. The footage, released on 29 January by police in Jacksonville, Florida, show an unnamed suspect helping himself to the massive haul of grub from US BBQ chain Jerome Brown.
A police spokesman said: “An unknown suspect gained entry into the business by prying open the side door. “Once inside, the suspect stole $4,000 worth of chicken, ribs, fries and wings and an empty cash register.” Local police apparently joked that the suspect may have been hoping to host a well-catered Superbowl party, ahead of the worldwide American Football event last weekend. Erica Morris, manager of the Jerome Brown BBQ, told ABC News, “It hurts employees, managers
and the business owners. We wish whoever knows something about it, just turn them in. A close friend might know him. Just turn him in, because it’s hurting everybody.” Florida Police, who posted on their Facebook page appealing for information, have had huge feedback from local residents condemning the alleged robbery.

The seller states that the goggles can be “installed” in three minutes (i.e. folding a cardboard box together and throwing your phone in) and is good-to-go as soon as the user downloads the ‘Cardboard’ app from the Play/ App store. Given that Google’s official VR specks - the now discontinued Google Glass project - sell second hand for a staggering £400 plus, it suddenly makes the idea of walking about with a cardboard box on your head that little bit more appealing. This is exactly the kind of thing that Back to the Future II had predicted for 2015.

Celebrity Horoscopes This week’s guest phsycic - Russell Brand*
A rush of intense love and romantic passion for a special someone might turn your mind toward marriage. The marital ceremony of a congeneric peer may contribute to these thoughts.Your beloved associate may still have doubts about moving to the next level of commitment, even though there’s no question that he or she truly adores you. Be patient and hold your tongue. You will know when the time is righty-whitey. This week you could experience a strong desire to clear your psyche of past traumas that limit you.You may decide to register for a seminar or workshop of some kind. I find intense hypnotic meditation and depraved sexual conquests are life lessons worth learning. If you sign up this week, all signs are that you will not only attain the results you want but you will also meet some interesting new comrades. Among them could be a potential love partner. Go on my son (or daughter) ‘ave fun. Love, passion, romance, marriage, yoga, and a failed understanding of the inner workings of communism - your mind will focus on these matters all week. Don’t be surprised if talk of a longterm commitment creeps into your conversations with your beloved. If you aren’t involved, someone new and exciting could appear on the scene. Take them home and... *removed under decency grounds – Editor*. The approach of a very special visitor might cause you to thoroughly clean your rambunctious surroundings. Afterwards, you could look for new and interesting ways to dress it up with some new plants, throw pillows, or other decorative touches (try a yoga mat). This can be tiresome, but definitely worthwhile. When your cohort arrives, he or she will feel at home. Work hard and then make yourself look prodigious. Romantic novels and movies could be more appealing than usual this week. You’re in an especially intense mindset. If you’re involved, your relationship could be near the point where it has to move ahead or end. Chances are it will move ahead. If you aren’t attached, your loving nature will attract more than one potential partner into your aura. Be prepared, and expect the unexpected. Your financial situation could get a strong boost this week, as the bourgeoisie social and economical uprising gains unrelenting momentum. Consolidate yourself into a project with strong personal significance. The creative arts could be involved, as well as technology. Be prepared for a busy month, but it will be a great one. Go for gold (and obviously then share that gold evenly in a loving embrace of a redistribution of wealth).

Go on and give us a kiss! Lets face it girls and guys, we all want to be kissed so how are the lips looking??? Dry, lined, perhaps a cold sore lurking in the background. Well this is the lip smacking truth….. your lips will be prone to problems like cold sores if you let them become dry and cracked! So you all know that moisturisers work by keeping skin hydrated, protected and smooth right? Well now I want you to moisturise your face, neck and your lips. Dab some moisturiser on your lips morning and night to prevent dryness. If you are prone to dry lips then keep a lip balm in your pocket and apply this lots of time during the day – this is something I have taught the men in my life
to do especially if they run, do sport or are outdoors. Getting back to cold sores ….do not kiss someone with a cold sore…no matter how good looking they are! Cold sores are a viral infection and spread with kissing! Also if you get a cold sore then the skin cells in that area remember and that’s where you’ll probably get another if you don’t listen to your Auntie Joanie! If you are going on holiday to the sun please also do the steps: 1. moisturiser, 2. lip balm and 3. SPF on lips. The sun dries up the lips even more so be prepared beforehand and have those lips super hydrated prior to having them in the sun.
Finally lipstick for the girls is good as long as it’s a moisturising one so always check this first by asking at the beauty counter and also I always get the girls to apply the lipstick and see how it feels before you buy. This week you may decide to study healing. You could read about alternative methods regarding diet, herbs, aromatherapy, massage, or acupuncture. You might decide to learn some hands-on methods. Whether or not you ever practiced any of these professionally, learning about them should transform your life for the better on both physical and emotional levels. Make the most of it. This week you might decide to sign up for an advanced course of some kind. This might include world religions or perhaps meditation. I really do love meditation. Stay out of book shops ,both physical and online. You might spend a fortune on books on your chosen subject. The effect of this is likely to be more profound than a simple accumulation of knowledge. Prepare to be transformed.
This lovely moisturiser contains Hyaluronic Acid and this is at the top of my skin care dream time ingredients. Please don’t be put off with the word ‘acid’ …HA isn’t harsh and doesn’t stip skin, in fact it has the very opposite effect. Hyaluronic acid is a powerful humectant, meaning moisturise binding, that keeps your skin hydrated, plump and younger looking! Woo Hoo! HA is already present in your skin and one of its many jobs is to support collagen and attract moisture from the outside into your skin.
A group of friends may invite you to attend a festival or workshop involving the creative arts or metaphysical studies, or perhaps both. You might resist at first, but once you get there you will find the subject and instructor captivating. Afterwards, you won’t want to talk about it.You will be too preoccupied with your thoughts. Scribe them down. You will want to relive this joyous experience over and over again.
So think of HA as a sponge and when you put it on the skin it is working to hydrate and pull moisture from the air around you! As you get older your HA depletes so you have to use a product that replaces it and also that is going to help collagen to continually keep the skin as plump and young looking as possible. HA when applied penetrates the top layer of your skin and permeates the skin increasing
If you’ve considered a career in healing, psychic, or spiritual studies or the creative arts, today is the consummate opportunity to turn your aspirations into a pure matter of concreteness. An adjacent acquaintance could open the door for you.Your own psychic and artistic abilities should be operating at a very high level, so don’t be intimidated. You’re good at what you do and are likely to remain so, my sovereign liege. Romance could be on your magnificent cranial canals this week. This could be due to a recent wonderful encounter with saucy bit-of-stuff you met on that night out last Thursday. Since then, listening to majestic sonnets of romance may have enhanced your sensuality. You will want to schedule another meeting in your diary-wirey, ignore receptivital calls to hold back because you don’t want to seem pushywushey. Go ahead and call your compatriot. You might be pleasantly bamboozled by the following reception.

The Changing Faces of Bruce Jenner Speculation amidst the emerging photos of fuller lips, manicures and longer hair have been put to rest -it has been confirmed by a number of sources that Bruce Jenner is officially becoming a woman. The Olympic Gold Medallist’s Mother, Esther, told RadarOnline: “I just learned about [his transition]. Bruce filled me in, and we had a very long, long, long talk about it.” Bruce’s journey will be documented in Season 10 of Keeping up with the Kardashians. Stepdaughter, Kim Kardashian spoke of his transformation on Entertainment Tonight: “He’s our dad so we support him no matter what, and I think when the time is right, he’ll talk about whatever he wants to talk about.”
Aggy’s Divorce Former model Agyness Deyn has divorced husband Giovanni Ribisi (Phoebe’s brother from Friends FYI). It was unknown the pair were even dating when they wed at a small ceremony in 2012. Barely recognisable without her trademark peroxide crop, the model-turned-actress is said to have divorced Ribisi for ‘irreconcilable differences’ (TMZ).

UFC inbound to KING Glasgow Ross Swanson
Premier mixed martial arts company the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) have announced they will host their first ever event in Scotland later this year.
now, so I just know this will be a sellout.”
The event, which will take place on July 18 at The SSE Hydro in Glasgow, will feature some of Scotland’s best fighters alongside stars from around the world.
In 2014 the UFC hosted sellout events in multiple locations across Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA). Events in cities including London, Dublin and Stockholm attracted fans from all over the world, and the UFC has made no secret of its intention to increase the number of events it holds across EMEA in 2015.
Scottish UFC women’s strawweight fighter, Joanne “BadMofo” Calderwood, delivered the news that fight-fan’s have long been waiting for. The Muay Thai specialist, who trains at Glasgow’s Griphouse MMA gym, said: “People at home have been asking the UFC to come to Scotland for so long
“It would be a dream come true for me to fight in Glasgow for the UFC. The opportunity to step inside the Octagon in front of a home crowd would be something I’d never forget.”
committed to the growth of mixed martial arts in these regions and we understand that in order to facilitate and drive this growth, we need to reach new markets and actively explore new territories.
“2015 is about bringing fans closer to the sport they follow so fervently and to the athletes that they support so passionately. This year, we will host events that will be remembered for years to come, and we intend to place cities like Kraków, Glasgow and Berlin firmly on the map when it comes to the sport of mixed martial arts.”
UFC Senior Vice President and General Manager, David Allen, welcomed bringing the company to Scotland.

“Once the EGM is called it’s the end of the road as far as this board is concerned. I think it’s over.” King issued a challenge to the current Board in respect of the probable costs of the meeting. Despite his overwhelming confidence in succeeding at the EGM, King has a contingency plan in the event he doesn’t get the votes required, dismissing that scenario would be ruin any prospect he had of gaining control at Ibrox. “If for some reason there is a turnaround and we lose by 1 or 2% I would go back to the market place, buy another 5% and do it again - but I don’t think that will be necessary.” In a further ‘shot across the bow’ King made clear his intentions, that if he does gain control, there would be a detailed audit of all contracts between the club and the Newcastle owner. “Would we pay him back immediately? I don’t think so - no.
He said: “We are wholly

At a press conference on Wednesday, Kind said “I am very confident we will get more than the 50% support we need. The meeting should be called by Friday. I will then be back here in three weeks and in 23 days’ time and we will immediately have a new board of directors.
Warrirors flanker banned but could make World Cup David Stewart Glasgow Warriors player Ryan Wilson has been found guilty of assault and has been suspended without pay for three months. Following the his conviction, the Scottish Rugby Union decided Wilson would be banned from international games until 23 August, meaning the flanker could still make it to the World Cup four weeks later. Wilson attacked two men in a fastfood restaurant and received a £750 fine. Appearing before a disciplinary hearing, Wilson was told he would be suspended with immediate effect, without pay - and for three months. The forward had told the trial that he had already received a fine amounting to five weeks’ wages. His absence from training and play means he will lose around £25,000 in missed earnings.
Further to his fine, SRU bosses have told Wilson he must attend a programme that will support his personal development. Alcohol awareness is understood to be an element in the course but he is not thought to have an alcohol problem. Wilson will miss the Six Nations this year. The tournament begins for Scotland in Paris on Saturday. He could be allowed to train with the team before play but only after the Six Nations has ended. An SRU spokesman said: “In accordance with Scottish Rugby’s standard disciplinary procedures Ryan Wilson has the right to appeal against the panel’s findings. Scottish Rugby will make no further comment at this time.”
CONT FROM PAGE 36 I would expect there to be some money in the bank which is pleasant. We would complete a forensic investigation of all agreements and key contracts and if any individuals are found to have behaved improperly then it is important that they are held accountable.” Paul Murray, a key part of King’s Ibrox revolution, outlined the programme of change he hopes to implement. Initially he believes he has to stabilise the Club, saying that what has happened was ‘fundamentally wrong, disgraceful’. He also sees the day when he will work with Peter Lawell for the benefit of Scottish football as a whole. “Stage one is basically stabilising the club and the finances. We need to appoint a first-team manager and build an infrastructure around him. “In the medium term it’s about getting capital to develop the club back to a level where it can compete to win the Premiership. “In the longer term you’d like to think we can get back to Champions League level. “One of our roles as directors should be to work alongside Peter Lawwell and others like him to try to move Scottish football forward.”
Scottish referees in vanishing act Dens park will this weekend be the first ground in Scotland when vanishing spray will be used by a referee. Dundee’s home fixture to Celtic will see the spray introduced by the SFA, ahead of the rest of weekend’s last16 Scottish Cup ties, it will then be rolled out across all of the country’s senior leagues and cup competitions. The spray is used by referees to mark the required distance of 10 yards between the ball and opposing players from a set piece, the first spray caught the imagination of football fans around the world when it made its first appearance at the FIFA World Cup in Brazil last year. It is now used in 13 countries around Europe, including England.

SCOTTISH PREMIERSHIP SAT 7th FEB 2015 15:00 Aberdeen v Ross County Hamilton v Kilmarnock
In case you weren’t aware, the finalists for the Scottish League Cup were decided last weekend, with Celtic and Dundee United the victors over Rangers and Aberdeen respectively. I’m as surprised as you are – I didn’t know Dundee United were playing Aberdeen either. In a bout of unhinged sensibility, the clubs decided to forego TV income to ensure both more bums on seats in the national stadium and a ‘later’ kick off of 3 p.m. A dramatic 84th-minute decider by Ciftci gave the Arabs their 2-1 win on Saturday, while Celtic strolled to a 2-0 victory over Rangers in their first meeting in almost 3 years thanks to goals by Leigh Griffiths and Kris Commons. Onto the weekend, there’s little in the way of top-flight matches on the 7th, with only Hamilton playing Kilmarnock, and Aberdeen vs Ross County to keep ewe entertained. Midweek though there’s a Glasgow derby, with Partick Thistle welcoming Celtic to Maryhill for a late kick-off on Wednesday 11th February. On Friday 13th, Rangers play Hibernian in the Championship. All eyes will be on Ibrox to see if Kenny McDowall can achieve the monumental task of remembering the names of all the new guys Mike Ashley brought him up from Newcastle. And on Valentine’s day, spoil the one you love with a day of football. There’s St Johnstone vs Celtic live on TV from 12:45 if you wish to spoil them with a new TV and cable/satellite. Partick are away to Dundee if you fancy a long drive to the city of discovery, Kilmarnock’s at home to Dundee United if you want to indulge your partner in the delights of the world-renowned Killie pie cuisine, and St Mirren are at home to Inverness if a dangerous yet fun-filled trip to Paisley is more your cup of tea. In my view though, nothing could be more glamorous or romantic in the world though than a relegation dogfight between the Staggies and Motherwell
People are uncertain on exactly what to say when I tell them why I’m doing this year’s Kiltwalk for SiMBA. It takes them aback when I tell them about the support they gave my wife and I when our son Daniel was born sleeping in April 2012. It does surprise some a little more that a guy is willing to talk openly about it. But that shouldn’t be the case; and stillbirth shouldn’t be a taboo subject for anyone. Our first contact with SiMBA was in the maternity unit while we spent time with Daniel. The charity gave us a memory box which contained various things; the idea is that these boxes give parents somewhere to store the precious memories they have of their little ones. The box along with SiMBA’s support got my wife and I through the most difficult time of our lives. So on 12th April 2015, I along with Team SiMBA are doing the 26-mile walk from Glasgow to Balloch (in a kilt, of course!).
The Scottish transfer window was more eventful this year than usual, with actual cash transfers and clubs active until the window “slammed shut” - unheard of in recent years but a promising sign that Scottish football is finally on the up again. Aaron Lennon’s unimpressed looks in club photographs following his loan move from Spurs to Everton have caused a stir on social media channels, but he looks nowhere near as bemused as the five Newcastle players who were sent to Rangers on loan. We say ‘players’, but of course they could have just got the wrong bus from Sports Direct in Silverburn following their staff training. Celtic managed to secure new signings in the dying minutes of the transfer window from Dundee United. Following hours of the usual posturing over transfer fees, a sum of around £2
WED 11th FEB 2015 I’m hoping to raise lots of money for the range of things SiMBA do; from their memory boxes, to their trees of tranquillity to their support groups and events. Their work is incredible and every step I take on the 26 mile journey for them will be worth it. We’re using the reach of our Scottish football website on social media to raise awareness and funds and will be hosting our own events later this year. The Kiltwalk benefits a range of Scottish children’s charities, including SiMBA. If you’d like to donate to my journey, please do so at:

BRAEHEAD CLAN million was agreed to sign Gary Mackay-Steven, Stuart Armstrong and the Scottish League Cup. Hamilton possibly did the best business of the day, receiving a cool £1 million from Norwich for Tony Andreu while Aberdeen managed to steal Kenny McLean for only £300k, a fee criticised widely by St Mirren fans.
