Bucking good times at Mooloolah Rodeo

By Sonia Clark

Following the huge success of last year's event, the annual Mooloolah Rodeo is fast becoming a must do drawcard for both locals and visitors. Now in its fourth year, the event on Saturday, August 17 will again be held at the Mooloolah Pony Club Reserve (Way Street) and it promises to be even bigger and better than ever!

Presented by the Mooloolah Valley Country Club and supported by local sponsors, gates open at 4.30pm until late, with the rodeo excitement kicking off at 5.30pm sharp.

Event organiser Shona Hume said she was thrilled that community interest was so great in the rodeo. Since the event started in 2015, it had not only improved each year but was now bigger, better and more popular far and wide, she said.

“We are so proud to be a family friendly, locally run event that also gives back to our community. This is a major fundraiser for the Mooloolah State School, which we are so pleased to support, as well as being an awesome night out,” Shona said.

The main event is bullriding in three categories - open, novice and junior - as well as a saddle broncs event. Local father and son team Ian and Jacob Day (aka Team Day) will wow the crowds and a licensed bar will operate until late.

After the rodeo events, a live band will play into the night with a great spread of food to fill hungry bellies.

More details via the Mooloolah Rodeo Facebook page or www.mooloolahrodeo.org. Pre-paid tickets are available from www.stickytickets.com.au. Gate prices are $15 for children and $25 for adults. There are no family tickets.
