Welcome SUMMER FUN is back! This handy little booklet has everything you need to know about what is on offer this summer. An exciting program curated for all skill levels, facilitated by local artists, enabling you to explore and ignite creativity throughout this summer. Be quick these workshop will sell out fast! On display in the Gallery we have the Dobell Drawing Prize #22, a National Art School touring exhibition featuring 43 of the 64 finalists from the 2021 Prize. And for the first time the Gallery and Cultural development teams present The Regional Creative Showcase 2022. An exhibition that features a selection of senior high school and TAFE Creative Industry students. This wonderful exhibition celebrates the diversity and vibrancy of local talent within our art, design and creative industries. The Gallery would like you thank all of our loyal patrons for your support this year. This is a relaxed and creative get together for parents with young children up to the age of 3. Each session is facilitated by local artist Gabriella Domin who has created a fun filled adult focussed art making session. Kids wanting to get creative can also get involved. This is a perfect, relaxed and safe environment for the little ones to play and for the parents to have a chance to play as well. About artist Gabriella Domin: Gabriella Domin is an artist, surface designer and art teacher, living and working in Port Macquarie. HAND PAINTED WATERCOLOUR ABSTRACT FLOWERS With artist Stu Doherty Learn some basic techniques of watercolour with local artist Stu Doherty. Create vibrant expressive watercolour floral art featuring wetin-wet techniques, stunning metallic watercolour paints and pigment ink pen. HAND PAINTED DECORATIVE VASE With artist Claire Johnson Inspired by iconography, Greek pottery and mythology. Learn how to create your own unique vase painted design, using a variety of techniques that Claire uses for her own practice. “As an artist I think it’s paramount finding joy in the process of making. Embodying an emotion, a passing conversation, a specific interest or even the act of pure mark making in an artwork can be as powerful or as subtle as you’d like it to be. About artist Carly Marchment Carly Marchment is a painter who lives and works in the Macleay Valley region. Predominantly a portraiture and figurative artist, Marchment draws inspiration from her surroundings whether it be colour, imagery or emotion and incorporates these elements into her creative practice. Marchment currently is the owner operator of her Studio Gallery within The Gladstone Hub in Gladstone, where she exhibits her work and facilitates life drawing classes. WET FELTING CLASS with fiber artist Gemma Cross
Sunday 22 January, 10am - 2pm Ever wanted to learn the art of felting? Join Mid North Coast artist Gemma Cross in an all inclusive felt making class and learn how to create a felt bowl. To create your unique vessel you will learn how to layer fibers using the wet felting technique. No experience needed (however the process of wet felting is quite physical). BYO lunch and attire suitable for wet work.

About artist Gemma Cross Gemma Cross lives and works in the Manning Valley and has been working with the art of felting for over 15 years. With a focus on the unknown and curious, her felted sculptures have varied in subject matter from uncomfortable life study ‘portraits’, to story book characters. Currently she is working on life sized, local endangered and threatened species of flora and fauna. This will be featured in an exhibition with textile artist Freya Moon at the Manning Regional Gallery this year. A finalist in the Naked and Nude Art Prize 2019 and 2021, and People’s Choice Award atthe Manning Regional Gallery, and a finalist in the 2020 and 2022 Northern Exposure Showcase at the Glasshouse Regional Gallery.
