An Introduction Dawn quiet...still grief...incredible sorrow. The Son of Man lies dead, killed by human greed and fear. Cool morning sun ... awakening life. The garden is now Christ’s home, the tomb His dwelling. The guards stir, the sun climbs in the sky, and life begins again. Jesus lies in sleep this third day since His death. It is life that shatters the peace! Blinding light! Incredible energy! Frantic guards run in fear from the face of God. Angels! Brilliance! God’s power made manifest! Life conquers death! Loving friends come to the garden to offer final farewells. A familiar hand reaches out again. A loving voice says, “I am here. Know me!” Oh, my Lord Jesus, it is you! The Lord is risen indeed! Incredible joy! Awesome wonder! God’s Son is alive again! No grave can keep this body down! Alleluia!

Welcome to all who have joined us for worship today! We pray that the joy of the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead is yours this day and throughout your lives. Because He lives, we shall live also! Everyone is invited to join us for a pancake breakfast being served by our Youth Group at 8:00 a.m. A free-will offering will be taken to support the Youth who are going to our National Youth Gathering in Minneapolis this Summer. An Easter Egg Hunt sponsored by our Youth Group will begin at 9:00 a.m. The Education Time will begin at 9:15 a.m. Sunday School classes for children from Nursery through High School are held in the Education Wing. Our Adult Bible Class will meet in the Fellowship Hall. Our Festival of the Resurrection Worship will begin at 10:30. There will be special music by our Praise Team and Hand Bells in this service. Pastor’s message in this service will be “Reason to Rejoice” based on Exodus 15:1-11.

Crown Him with many crowns, The Lamb upon His throne; Hark how the heav'nly anthem drowns All music but its own. Awake, my soul, and sing Of Him who died for thee And hail Him as thy matchless King Thro' all eternity. Crown Him the Lord of Life who triumphed o'er the grave And rose victorious in the strife For those He came to save. His glories now we sing Who died and rose on high, Who died eternal life to bring And lives that death may die.

Alleluia! That is our song. Alleluia! That is our cry! The Lord is risen! He is risen indeed! Alleluia!

Prayer of the Day Almighty God the Father, through your only-begotten Son Jesus Christ you have overcome death and opened the gate of everlasting life to us. Grant that we, who celebrate with joy the day of our Lord's resurrection, may be raised from the death of sin by your life-giving Spirit; through Jesus Christ, our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen. 3

The Easter Gospel: Mark 16:1-8 When the Sabbath was over, Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome bought spices so that they might go to anoint Jesus' body. Very early on the first day of the week, just after sunrise, they were on their way to the tomb and they asked each other, "Who will roll the stone away from the entrance of the tomb?" But when they looked up, they saw that the stone, which was very large, had been rolled away. As they entered the tomb, they saw a young man dressed in a white robe sitting on the right side, and they were alarmed. "Don't be alarmed," he said. "You are looking for Jesus the Nazarene, who was crucified. He has risen! He is not here. See the place where they laid him. 7 But go, tell his disciples and Peter, `He is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him, just as he told you.'" Trembling and bewildered, the women went out and fled from the tomb. They said nothing to anyone, because they were afraid. Christ the Lord is ris'n today Sons of men and angels say; Raise your joys and triumphs high; Sing, ye heav'ns, and earth reply. Vain the stone, the watch, the seal Christ has burst the gates of hell. Death in vain forbids His rise; Christ has opened paradise. Lives again our glorious king! Where, O Death, is now thy sting? Once He died our souls to save; Where thy victory, O grave? Hail the Lord of earth and heaven! Praise to Thee by both be given! Thee we greet triumphant now: Hail, the Resurrection Thou!

Sermon: The Easter “Amen.” The Apostle’s Creed 4

I believe in God the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth. And in Jesus Christ, his only Son our lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried. He descended into hell. The third day He rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty. From thence He will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Christian Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.
