Our 8 a.m. service uses the traditional liturgies and hymns of the Lutheran Church. The 10:30 a.m. Worship Service is a more contemporary service, using a variety of formats, instruments and newer songs along with traditional hymns. Please fill out a Family Registration Card with your Prayer Requests. Pass cards to the center aisle so the ushers can collect them. Children are welcome in the worship service. They are invited to the front for a children’s message during the 10:30 a.m. service. A nursery is provided for children 3 and under during the Sunday School and the 10:30 a.m. Service. The ushers will assist you in finding the nursery.

Altar Flowers today are given by the Gilbert Family celebrating Myra’s birthday. We have called for a special voters’ meeting on Sunday, September 25, after the Late Service, for the purpose of extending a call to a DCE to be our Children’s and Family Minister. Heather Bleier is the candidate for the Director of Children’s and Family Ministry being recommended by the call committee. She resides in Florida with her husband and daughter. She graduated from Concordia, Austin and has spent the last ten years working at Our Savior Lutheran Church and School in Plantation, Florida. She is a Texas native from San Antonio. She maintains a blog, loves to sing, act, and read, and does presentations on the use of social media in the church. During her interview, her energy and enthusiasm for the Ministry shone through, and the Committee feels she would be a great match for Grace. Church Potluck Dinner After Call Meeting Bring your favorite or new recipes to share with everyone. Drinks and plastic ware will be provided. We will have the meal in the pavilion weather permitting.

Military Bible Sticks We are once again offering you the opportunity to help provide the Word of God to members of our armed forces. Military Bible Sticks are small, portable, battery operated devices that men and women can take with them anywhere and listen to the Word of God as time permits. These are provided at no cost to members of the military through chaplains around the world. This is possible because of donations from people like you. If you would like to help Grace support this endeaveor, mark your contribution “Military Bible Sticks” and place it in the offering. Thanks. (The cost to provide a Military Bible Stick to an individual is $25.)

In our nation we have the right to be involved in the election process. You can help make a difference in the future of our nation. If you are not registered to vote, there is still time. Your vote matters.

This is for those children 4th grade and up whose parents think they are ready to receive Holy Communion. This will prepare them to receive this Sacrament before confirmation. It is not a replacement for confirmation class, nor is it a requirement. It is an option for those who want to learn about communion and receive it before they are confirmed. The class will be from 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. Lunch will be provided. Parents or guardians must attend with their child. There will be breakout sessions for parents and children to work together on some of the materials. If you and your child are planning to attend, please call the church office to register.

Christ is the cornerstone of our faith and the foundation of our life as the people of God. Today we begin a series of messages on Foundations. We will take a look at the teachings of Scripture that comprise the foundation of our faith and see how they center on Christ and shape our day to day living. We begin today with “The Story.” As a supplement to this series, there are materials available for individual and/or small group study during the week. Go to glcdenison.org to find the links to the study materials.
