FIELDS (2013) for piano solo
NOTES ON PERFORMANCE
The durations of notes and pauses should be very carefully observed and by no means shorter than notated. Slightly elongated pauses/notes are preferable over shortened. The lengths of drones on D may be adjusted according to the acoustics of the performance space and the length of decay of the piano. Pedal is left up to performer’s discretion, except the section from top of page 7 until the third system of page 8. There, the pedal markings are notated precisely and should be accurately observed. The pizzicato D pitches should be muted just enough to create the pizzicato articulation, yet with maximum possible sustain.
