The Washington Conservatory of Music at Glen Echo Park is one of the 15 nationally accredited community and precollegiate music schools in the United States. Since 1984, WCM has served students of all ages and levels through individual lessons, classes, and ensembles. Private Piano Lessons

Children, teens and adults - beginners, intermediate, and advanced - may enroll in 30 minute, 45 minute or one hour weekly piano lessons, with highly credentialed and performing artist faculty. No audition required. Learning piano is a great basis for learning music in general, and to prepare for playing other instruments. Guidance is happily provided to students of all ages in choosing instruments for private study to meet each individual’s goals. Is there something musical you would specifically like to learn – an instrument or topic about music? Instrumental Ensembles

Concerts and Events

Concerts and special events for children, families, and adults are offered by Washington Conservatory performing artist faculty members and guests at various times throughout the year both online and in person when it is safe to do so. In-person chamber music coaching for beginning, intermediate, or advanced preformed ensembles are arranged on an individual basis. Coaching with performing artist faculty is provided for amateur chamber music ensembles who would like to refine their ensemble playing or work on specific repertoire. Washington Conservatory of Music Child and parent/caregiver enjoy musical toe-tapping tickling fun as you and your child discover the joys of music together. Our creative musical experiences support developing language, listening, and motor skills. Lots of singing, finger play, and playing of age-appropriate instruments nurture cognitive ability while awakening an awareness of foundational musical elements such as steady beat, rhythm, tempo, pitch, and dynamics. Musical Imagination Station (Ages 3-5) $230

Washington Conservatory of Music Child and parent/caregiver share creative music, movement, and drama fun. We begin with a musical greeting and a jazzy body warm-up, then explore beat and rhythmic patterns with instruments. Next, we use visuals to travel with Mr. B Box on exciting musical journeys from the moon to a farm. Our return home is celebrated with singing, dancing and playing with our special stuffed animal friends. Our travels cover musical elements such as steady beat, tempo, pitch, dynamics and timbre. Sparks! Vocal Ensemble - Mondays (Ages 7-12) $345

Conservatory of Music Ignite the musical spark in your child. The Washington Conservatory’s performing ensemble teaches age- appropriate vocal techniques for proper breath support, projection, pitch, and phrasing. Sing songs from pop to stage to classical, acapella and with accompaniment, in unison and harmony, all while having fun! End of semester performance. Young Yukes (Ages 9-14) $184

Mike Kligerman Class: Tu, Jan 11-Mar 1, 5-6pm, Online Join this fun class and learn to play the ukulele, a small member of the guitar family. It’s easy to start, and the possibilities are endless! You’ll learn the basics of chords, strumming, fingerpicking, and more so you can play your favorite songs solo or in a ukulele band. Bring your own ukulele.
