The design process is a long research. A question like Who? What? How? When? Where? And When? Must answer to understand the company, the surroundings of the location, and how the new environment's layout must work to ensure the people's safety and comfort. All this said, we were task with designing the new office for Nucraft company here in Miami.
Introduction
The past year changes the way we interact within the workplace. The appearance of COVID-19, natural disasters as massive fires and flooding made the need to stay at home imperative. After a year, many do not want to go back to the workplace. As such, we are designing with the worker's wellbeing in mind. The concern of the building's carbon footprint has become a necessity.

Building Analysis
An investigation of natural factors that will affect the construction in the area, with the location and short information about the building
Location The building will be in Biscayne Blvd. between the 17th and 18th street. Close to the coastline which stand on risk of flooding with high tide.
The building has a stop of the trolley as public transportation

Noise and wind During clear days, the wind reaches a speed of 11 mph. During a hurricane, the area is in the high-risk sector, so it should be evacuated.
The area is highly transited, which as such create much noise from the vehicles. The Northwest side of the building will be exposed to the main street, Biscayne Blvd. Furthermore, the southeast of the building is exposed to the traffic of those going to the beach.

Case Studies A study of how two different companies designed their offices as to understand the essential need of a corporate workplace
The design for this office was extremely influence by two factors:
Location: Redwood City, California Area: 80000 sqft Firm: Studio O+A Custom Furniture: Mashstudios
A company of Data Storage and Bookmarking moved into a new office designed by Studio O+A. As they become busier moving into a bigger space change into a necessity to accommodate their employees.
Strict Budget
Fast pace construction
• Expensive high branding was ignored • Functionality was put over aesthetics
• Materials were used to create a richer design impact • Used of Douglas fir plywood to create grain and patterns
Common Areas Reception
Stairway and Resting Areas
Safety and Flexibility: Open space and low maintenance water conserving plants on the walls. The furniture was located while keeping personal space. Community: A chalk artist was hired to draw a wall size representation of the company identity, “Remember Everything.”
Flexibility and Community: The stairway offered not only a wider circulation path but acts as a reunion and rest spot. Also, the furniture uses in the resting areas could be improve in order to enhance mobility. Safety: However, personal space was clearly taken into consideration during the furniture positioning. There could be improvement on the handrail design dividing the stairway. Create safe entrance to sitting space.
Open Safety and Flexibility: The open office areas are all facing natural light coming from the window. Also, the furniture choice permitted new configuration while maintaining the personal space. Community: The lack of barriers or cubicles improves idea exchanges and social interaction.
Private Flexibility and safety: The private spaces are not assigned to any specific employee, becoming a space for anyone that needs isolation to operate better. Most of the remote areas have sound isolation and fluorescent lighting. However, the modification for space configuration was significantly reduced.
Working Spaces
Recreation Space
Fitness Room Community: For the employees well being the company implemented the fitness room. Exercising improves team collaboration. Safety: Reduce physical problems that form for staying in a stressful environment or sitting for a long time.
Donuts Station Safety: white ceramics surfaces for sterile cleaning procedures with, and open-air circulation design not stopped by doors or windows Community: There is nothing better than coffee and donuts in the morning before work. This space was created with the idea in mind— a moment to share with everyone.
Roman Klis Office Design Location: Herrenberg, Germany Area: 21527 sqft Firm: Ippolito Fleitz Group
The design for this office was based in a simple idea Relaxation and pleasure boost
Creativity
Productivity
A Design Office located in “the Maldives of design” inspired in an office of New York. This office showcases the company brand identity, “insights from behavioral science and the ambition to provide smart solutions to every challenge
Working Space Safety: Workways have been kept neutral to promote concentration. Blue is a calming color and fosters creativity. A gradual progression into white brings additional openness and lightness to space. Community: The space enhances social interaction thanks to the color palette selection and clean atmosphere Flexibility: Thoughtfully placed water sources and tasteful lighting help bring about an even better mood. Tropical wallpaper meets soft shapes and round tables. The furniture can also be re-organized easier to change the environment, and privacy was considered during its selection.
Nodes Safety: Foot traffic circulation is more comfortable thanks to them. Community: The pale pink walkways are genuine mood boosters and, incidentally, increase empathy amongst employees. Flexibility: The nodes are also positioned between every 24 employees as a rest space.
Multi-purpose Space
Multi-purpose Space Safety: 2100 super-performer green house plants increase the air quality and reduce noise contamination. While lowering stress levels boosts creativity and moods. As a result, the employee's sick leaves were decreased by 50%. Flexibility: One space is a café which provides an atmosphere to refuel and hatch out fresh ideas. At the same time are a room meeting, private space, and break room. The furniture is also comfortable, accommodated, and adjusted to meet the user's necessities.
Design
Application of every aspect of the project into a usable space
Concept
Nucraft Historic
Minimalist
Geometric
Establishing a connection between the history of a Chippendale-inspired company with the simplicity of the modern world. As Nucraft is represented by its straight and clean lines design, fragments of history will add diversity to the design of lines and shapes that improve the functionality. Simultaneously, a reduced selection of materials like the iconic walnut and a neutral color palette will keep the harmony through the space connecting the corporative floor with the retail experience.
Guidelines
The building will be in a heavy traffic area. Thus, materials that absorb and isolated noise should be used to cover the building's interior, if possible, the outside too.
The building will receive a lot of natural most of the time. Resulting in the use of shades to cover the windows and regulated the light. Options of light for windows: • • • •
Electrochromic glass Frosted Glass Pattern of frosted glass strategically ubicated Shade structure already install on the building
The printed room will not be implemented as the technology for it will be placed strategically around the office's different sectors to maximize productivity. However, for a particular purpose like a massive printer, a station will be placed in the open, collaborative space
The location is in a natural disaster high-risk zone. Thus: • Design an evacuation path direct to the stairs • Install impact windows • Do not install rugs on the first floor, as flooding water from the ocean will ruin them
The conference room, phone room, and huddle room will be distributed evenly throughout the building to support the productivity of the different departments Fast access to them on short distances will be beneficial as it will speed up the work pace
To use the architectural structure to its utmost capacity, the roof will be cover by tesla panel tile, which will provide at least 50 percent of the energy required
The space of the building is open.
The first floor will contain open spaces for the public and the Design Department, close to the showroom and all the materials needed for inspiration and productive work. The second floor will contain the areas restricted to the public, in other words, the corporative side of the company.
Apply the Chippendale historic style and use walnut, marble, metal and glass while keeping in mind the high use from wheelchair.
• • •
When organizing the office space try to keep the open space. Walls are not the enemy Circulation should be keeping a priority.
