Module Introduction Leading a Team Through School-wide CRCT Analysis
Module Introduction School-wide CRCT Analysis
In the previous module, Leading a Team Through Grade-level CRCT Analysis (hereafter called “CRCT-1”), you learned how to engage a team of teachers to analyze the CRCT data from their grade level. This gave you and your teachers a view of how your current students in that grade level are performing. This module will equip you to perform the next step – to assemble a crossgrade-level team to assist you in analyzing CRCT scores from across the school – in order to get a more complete picture of your students’ performance. As in CRCT-1, this module is built on the assumption that when teachers analyze their own data, they own it – and are more likely to take actions based on the data (such as trying a new teaching method or asking a fellow teacher for help in order to raise their students achievement).
What is the Leader’s Role?
Tips
Updated 5/13/2011
While it is critical that you involve teachers in the process of analyzing, the leader maintains responsibility to:
Analyze the achievement data carefully before the analyzing team session and prior to sharing the results with grade or department levels and the entire school
Develop protocols and provide as much information as is feasible to facilitate the data analysis process before the team session so that teachers are not overwhelmed by the process and have sufficient time to thoroughly analyze their data
Hold back the results of their your own analysis and ask provocative questions to the teachers to elicit their opinions about strengths and weaknesses and to encourage them to reach consensus on next steps
Data reports you will need to use while working through this module are listed in italic, underlined text, such as Class Performance Summary
Forms you will need to complete while working through this module are listed in bold, underlined text, such as School-wide CRCT Grade-Level Analysis
You will need to access the forms you completed during grade-level CRCT analysis. A blank set of these forms is located in the Appendix of CRCT-1.
There is one form used in this module, which is provided in the Appendix: School-wide CRCT Analysis Form/Poster Page 6 of 44
