SKILLCORPS TRAINING PROVISION

A SUSTAINABLE APPROACH Our work is rooted in sustainable development. Sustainable development is development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. Our work is focused on building local capacity, never our own presence. We whole-heartedly believe that local people are the most qualified educators, advocates, and leaders in their communities.

"For change to be of any true value, it must be lasting and consistent" Tony Robbins

EMPOWERING LOCAL LEADERS

By partnering with locally-led centers around the world, we can ensure that individuals with autism can access the best services in their own country. When we are working with our partners we use the Socratic Method to guide our conversations. In using this method we are not providing our partners with answers to their questions (building dependability) but rather helping them to problem solve on their own (building sustainability).

There's a difference in learning something from another and discovering somehting for yourself.

When a person is able to create a solution through their own thought process they become empowered. Empowering our partners means providing them with the confidence and tools to tackle whatever obstacles they may face. In engaging in Socratic Questioning, we are effectively building our partners' abilities to engage in critical thinking skills. This will have a lasting impact in our partners' ability to problem solve, limit overgeneralization and dependency, while promoting the necessary analytical skills required for clinical competence.
