68th WHA Update 

The Sixty-eighth World Health Assembly (68th WHA) is starting to wrap up after a very busy and productive week. A special thank you to GHC members who participated in our delegation, attending official sessions and side events, writing blogs and drafting statements. GHC hosted three events including: a Welcome Salon, a workshop on Post2015 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and a Global Health Leadership Series event.

The call for applications for the 2015 GHC-GBCHealth Business Action on Health Awards is still open. These awards highlight the important and innovative contributions of the corporate sector to improving global health outcomes. Corporations are encouraged to apply. Deadline: June 12.

Upcoming GHC Events 

GHC's 68th WHA Debrief Webinar will take place on Wednesday, June 3 at 11:00 AM EDT. Join representatives from HHS as we recap the week's events and reflect on some of the outcomes. Registration details to come. Save the date for GHC's next Global Finance Facility (GFF) Briefing for Civil Society and the Private Sector on Friday, June 19 from 9:30 AM - 12:00 PM EDT in Washington, DC. World Bank Group Senior Director for the Health, Nutrition and Population Global Practice, Tim Evans, and USAID Assistant Administrator for Global Health, Ariel Pablos-Méndez, will be guest speakers.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has announced funding for partners wanting to engage further in their global health security response. More information about these opportunities available here. Deadline: June 5. The zero draft of the Global Strategy for Women's, Children's and Adolescents' Health is now available! Log-on to the interactive consultation hub and take the survey on the zero draft Strategy. Second round survey is online until June 5. On May 14, GBCHealth, the MDG Health Alliance and Every Woman Every Child unveiled The Ultimate Investment in the Future: Profiles of Corporate Engagement in the Health and Development of Newborns. This is a first-of-its-kind catalog of corporate investments that are reducing newborn mortality and morbidity in over 70 low-resource settings around the world. The Business Plan to operationalize the Global Financing Facility (GFF) was published on May 17 by the Business Planning Team. The Business Plan articulates how the GFF will bring to bear smart, scaled and sustainable financing designed to achieve and measure results, and help prevent up to 3.8 million maternal deaths, 101 million child deaths and 21 million stillbirths in 63 high-burden countries by 2030. On the occasion of the 68th WHA, GHC member Rabin Martin, along with the Johns Hopkins Institute for Applied Economics, Global Health and the Study of Business Enterprises and the Global Health Programme of the Geneva Graduate Institute, launched the second in a series of annotated bibliographies on Universal Health Coverage.
