Symptoms of Cancer The term Cancer broadly defines a condition wherein certain parts or organs of the body experience uninitiated/unintended cell growth. This start from the cellular level, wherein certain cells starts growing uncontrolled. These growing cells then come together to form a tumor – although it is important to note that not all tumors need to be cancerous. Often the tumors are benign or non-cancers. The cancerous ones, also known as malignant tumors and slowly begin to spread themselves to other organs. Currently, doctors have identified over one hundred malignant conditions. These are classified and named according to the organs they affect or the consequences they bring forth. Thus, looking at the huge variance and prevalence of the cancer related conditions, it is difficult to put forth a definite set of symptoms that cover all types of cancers. Also given vast set of reasons why they are caused or the consequences they bring, there is no broad consensus on a definite and concise definition for cancer. Nevertheless, all malignant tissues do exhibit certain key characteristics which can be underscored as the indicators of cancer      

Each of the cancerous tumors have a tendency to grow self-sufficiently without the need to be actively fed Every cancerous tumor will exhibit the quality of non-responsiveness - to efforts made to curb their growth Cancerous tumors will buck the trend of cell death & decay Cancerous tumors have an unlimited potency to replicate themselves Cancerous tissues have the ability to grow blood vessels from existing ones Finally all cancerous tissues have the tendency to spread cancer from one tissues to another

All forms of cancer exhibit most or all of the fore-mentioned characteristics. Or inversely the presence of most or all of the above characteristics is an indicator of malignancy of a tumor.
