MYANMARS FIRST MUSIC AND VIDEO SCHOOL Our training hub is growing. We have joined forces with the creative music and video NGO, Turning Tables, and opened Myanmar’s very first music and video School - Turning Tables Lab – at the Global Platform.

We have built a music studio, installed professional music and video equipment and had international artists conduct workshops in video, DJ’ing, music production and rap/song.

Now local trainers are ready to empower Myanmar youth through musical, technical and artistic input and support.

UNIQUE JOURNALIST TRAINING Another first is our new Citizen Journalism Training, where we not only provide training but also facilitate a mentorship program between print journalists and ActionAid Myanmar’s Fellows.

In October we trained 25 professional journalists in human rights, governance and some basic journalism skills.

In November we will train 50 fellows from all over Myanmar in how to find, document and deliver a good story to the journalists.

By late November each journalist will be linked up with two Fellows from different parts of the country - ready to find and write good stories about human rights and governance in Myanmar.

SAFETY FIRST We have many people coming and going every single day – and fortunately we have not had any medical or safety problems.

But we are constantly working on bettering our training and facilities to make sure that everyone has a nice, safe learning experience when coming to GP. In October all staff, from security guards to kitchen staff, trainers and manager. joined a first aid course and completed and launched an overall security plan for the house.

So now there is nothing stopping us from giving Myanmar Youth the best possible trainings.
