Jim was not able to attend, but he was so appreciative of the notes written to him and was able to watch a video of the benefit. Johnson receives U of N degree LINCOLN, Neb. — Cristin Johnson, of Mason City, Iowa graduated from the University of Nebraska - Lincoln, in commencement exercises held Dec. 19-20 at the Bob Devaney Sports Center. Johnson received a degree in journalism and mass communications.
MILITARY NOTES Army Spec. Jacob J. Horspool graduated from basic combat training at Fort Sill, Lawton, Okla. He is the son of Nancy Beard, of Klemme. Horspool received a bachelor’s degree in 2005 from Weber State University, Ogden, Utah. Army Reserve Pvt. Ashley A. Fredericks graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C. She is the daughter of Robin Fredericks, Northwood, and is a 2006 graduate of Northwood-Kensett High School. Matthew L. Hoeft was promoted to the rank of sergeant in the U.S. Army Reserve. Hoeft, a combat engineer, is a member of the 890th Engineer Battalion (Forward Support Company) serving at Camp Liberty, Baghdad, in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. He served in the military for five years. The reservist is an assembler/line worker employed at Winnebago Industries, Forest City. He is the son of Mark and Susan Hoeft, Forest City, and is a 2001 graduate of Forest City High School.
