DON’T EXAGGERATE: It’s risky business to exaggerate and it won’t increase your chances of success. Misleading information may get a buyer to your house, but it won’t sell the item and probably do just the opposite. AVOID ABBREVIATIONS: While a few abbreviations are well known and save space, too many together can cause confusion. A confused reader will not take the time to figure it out. INCLUDE PRICE: Surveys indicate buyers are more interested in merchandise when they know the price. This applies to everything from household items to cars. Good merchandise priced fairly sells. BE AVAILABLE: A telephone number is fine if you’re at home when your ad runs. If you’re not going to be home, state the time you will be. Must potentials buyers will not call back.
