Dannen named ‘Student of Month’ MASON CITY — Bryan Dannen, a 2010 graduate of Mason City High School, was selected as the Mason City Noon Rotary Club’s “Student of the Month” last May. Bryan is the son of Jason and Kati Dannen, Mason City. Dannen Bryan participated in Academic Decathlon, the Architecture, Construction and Engineering program, the Mason City Public Library Referendum Committee, Science Bowl, summer church mission trip to South Dakota, and served as the president of the Mason City Public Library Teen Advisory Board. His awards and honors include National Honor Society, the Governor’s Scholar Award, Honor Roll, the Silver Cord Program, and Mason City High School Academic Hall of Fame. Bryan is attending Iowa State University to pursue a degree in engineering and Spanish.

In addition to being crowned Miss Kossuth-Winnebago, Hailey received the Photogenic Award and

tied for the top Swimsuit Award. Miss KossuthWinnebago was awarded a $750 scholarship from the Miss Kossuth-Winnebago Scholarship Board and a $50 scholarship donated by Cliff and Phyllis Van Berkum, of Swea City. — First Runner-Up for Miss Kossuth-Winnebago — Kourtney Wacker, 18, daughter of Mark and Deb Wacker, of Clear Lake. Wacker also tied for the top Swimsuit Award. She was awarded a $300 scholarship. JaLisa Bow man, 20, daughter of Brian Bowman and Mike and Vicky Hall, of Burt, was awarded People Choice. All Miss contestants were awarded a $500 scholarship through Iowa Lakes Community College. First Runner-Up for Outstanding Teen was Betsy Ball, 14, daughter of Scott and Jodi Ball, of Mason City. She was also awarded Miss Congeniality. Jr. Miss Kossuth-Winnebago 2010 is Micky Hall, 11, daughter of Mike and Vicky Hall, of Burt. She was also awarded People’s Choice. The Miss KossuthWinnebago Scholarship Program is a local preliminary pageant to the Miss Iowa Scholarship Program and Miss America Organization.

Fitzpatrick named ‘Student of Month’ MASON CITY — Katie Fitzpatrick, daughter of James and Ellen FitzPatrick, was named Mason City Noon Rotary Club’s Student of the Month, last May. FitzPatrick was vice president of the Mason City Fitzpatrick High School Student Senate, president of Mason City High School Concert Choir, and participated in orchestra and Best Buddies. She was a member of the District School Improvement Team and was selected to perform at Iowa All-State Speech, and Iowa All-State Choir for three years. She is a YIELD graduate, member of the National Honor Society, on the Principal’s List, Honor Roll, and was chosen to attend the 2009 Iowa Girls State conference. Fitzpatrick was named Mason City High School homecoming queen. She is a leader for the Middle School Youth for Christ and is active in the First Covenant Worship Team. She plans to attend Azusa Pacific University this fall, and pursue a degree in music.
