Audra is the daughter of Tim and Lou Meyer of Clear Lake. She is the granddaughter of Jerry Meyer of Dubuque, and Laura Neyens of Dubuque. Aaron is the son of Bob and Sandy Riddle of New Market, Iowa. He is the grandson of Virginia Meyer of Clarinda, Iowa. Maid of honor was Alysia Meyer, sister of the bride. He is employed by Clarinda Police Department as a police officer in Clarinda. The couple will honeymoon in Mayan Riviera, Mexico, and reside in Clarinda.

NSCS welcomes Jon Guertin as new member MASON CITY — Jon Guertin, of Mason City, Iowa, has accepted membership in The National Society of Collegiate Scholars (NSCS). Jon will be honored during an Induction Convocation, this fall. “NSCS is more than just a symbol of academic achievement. Membership gives students access to a number of amazing benefits including career and networking resources, scholarships, travel, and service projects both on campus and in the community,” says Stephen E. Loflin, NSCS executive director. NSCS is a member of the Association of College Honor Societies and is the nation’s only interdisciplinary honors organization for first-and second-year college students. Membership is by invitation only, based on grade point average and class standing. Rotary Club ‘Students of the Month’ MASON CITY — Anne Epley Birtwistle and Michael Betz were chosen as the Mason City Noon Rotary Club “Students of the Month” for September. Anne Epley Birtwistle is the daughter of John Birtwistle and Dea Ellen Epley Birtwistle. She is a member of the Mason City High Epley Birtwistle School Concert Choir, and she has been involved with the Varsity Show Choir and Mohawk Chorale. She participates in fall cheerleading, spring tennis, and Best Buddies, where she is an officer. Her achievements include: member of the National Honor Society, participant in the Silver Cord program, YIELD graduate, Principal’s List, Honor Roll, and Student of the Month for science in February and September of 2009. Epley Birtwistle has also received varsity letters for the dance team and cheerleading and academic letters. Epley Birtwistle is a member of First United Methodist Church where she is a Sunday School teacher. She has been on mission trips to Washington D.C., has participated in Mission Jamaica through Trinity Lutheran Church, and volunteers at the Humane Society of North Iowa and the Cerro Gordo County Free Medical Clinic. She is planning to attend

St. Olaf or Wartburg College next year to pursue a major in pre-medicine. Michael Betz, a senior at Mason City High School, is the son of Stephen and Theresa Betz. Betz is highly active in music and is president of the Mason City Betz High School Band. He has been a member of the Mason City High School Symphonic Band, Jazz Band I, Concert Choir, and various sub-choirs throughout his high school career. He participates in the high school’s Speech and Drama Club, Math Club, National Honor Society, and holds a secretarial position in the newlyfounded Gay-Straight Alliance. He is also a student member of the MCCSD Technology Steering Committee. Betz maintains a 4.0 GPA, and is on the Principal’s List and Honor Roll. He has attained the AllState level in Band, Choir, and Speech, and was named an Iowa High School Music Association Outstanding Soloist for his performance on Marimba in 2010. He is a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, where he is an accompanist and a drummer. He volunteers at Mercy Medical Center North Iowa and with the Mason City Volunteer Program. After high school, Betz plans to attend college and pursue music composition.
