ALGONA — John Aboud received the “Distinguished Service Award to Music Education” Friday, Nov. 19, at the Iowa Music Educators Association Conference in Ames. This is the highest level of recognition presented by the Iowa Music Educators Association. Aboud is the former band instructor at Algona High School. He retired after the 2009-10 school year. Noted in the award presentation were Aboud’s six years of ser-

vice as the All-State Band Chair and the leadership and numerous accomplishments of his presidential leadership term on the IMEA. Aboud’s six years as an IMEA president ended Dec. 1. The Iowa High School Music Association recognized Aboud’s 33 years of service as an Iowa high school music educator, with a presentation during the All-State Music Festival Concert, Nov. 20. Aboud was one of six teachers recognized.

Schriver, Schmidt MANDY MICHELLE SCHRIVER, of Greene, is the daughter of Kirk Schriver of Mason City and LaDonna Schriver of Greene. Mandy is a 2007 graduate of North Butler (Greene) High School and a 2010 graduate of North Iowa Area Community College with an AAS degree for physical therapy assistant. She is currently employed at Steere’s Country Cafe in Greene. WILLIAM JOSEPH SCHMIDT, of Mason City, is the son of Jeff Reisem and Karen Reisem, both of Greene. William is a 2003 graduate of Greene High School. He is an estimator at Menards in Mason City. The couple will be married Dec. 11, 2010, at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Greene.
