Forest City All-State Speech FOREST CITY — Forest City speech students, Russell Sharper, Nathan Koch, April McCormick and Jon Happel, attended the Individual All-State Speech Festival, March 28, at the University of Northern Iowa, Cedar Falls. Sharper performed a prose selection, Kochstorytelling, McCormicksolo musical theatre, and Happel- solo improvisation acting. This is the second year Happel attended the event. This was an opportunity for students receiving outstanding nominations from two or three of their state speech judges, to perform in a festival setting. Scholarship award AMES — Devon Murray, of Charles City, is the recipient of a $1,000 scholarship from the Iowa Seed Association. Murray was one of nine students in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at Iowa State University, who received a $1,000 scholarship. Murray is a junior at ISU and is majoring in agricultural studies, with a minor in agronomy. The ISA scholarships are open to students in any major in ISU’s College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. Scholarships are awarded on the basis of: academic excellence, leadership skills, interpersonal skills and a demonstrated interest in a career in the seed industry or seed science.
