Mullenbach chosen as finalist in pageant OSAGE — Ally Marie Mullenbach, age 12, daughter of Tracy and Wayne Mullenbach of Osage, has been chosen as a State Finalist in the National American Miss Iowa Pageant to be held May 3 & 4 at the beautiful Ramada Convention Center in Waterloo, Iowa. The National American Miss pageants are held for girls ages 4-18, and have five different age divisions. Ally will participate in the pre-teen age division, along with other outstanding young ladies from across the great state of Iowa. Ally’s activities include volleyball, softball, gymnastics, tennis, babysitting and 4-H. She also enjoys horses, swimming, modeling and cosmetology. Mrs. Robert Knudtson, mother of the bride, Rachel Rognes, Kimberly Scott, Jessica Meyer, Levi Kester, Tommy Stenzel and Justin Kester, children, were special guests of honor. Serving as flower girl was the granddaughter of the bride, Brynn Rognes.

Award & Achievement MCHS Small Group Festival Results MASON CITY — The Mason City High School (MCHS) Music Department participated in the Iowa High School Music Association (IHSMA) Class 4A Solo and Ensemble Contest held at Cedar Falls High School on Saturday, April 12. More than 750 students participated from Cedar Falls, Dubuque Senior, Dubuque Hempstead, Mason City, Waterloo East, Waterloo West, and Western Dubuque. Mason City students were recognized in two of the eleven centers, receiving the Iowa High School Music Association “Outstanding Performance Award,” a designation of effort and accomplishment that far exceeds the demands made by an average high school performance. Only 0.9 of 1% of all festival entries in the state receive this award.
