CONGRATULATIONS Blanchard receives Eagle Scout Award

On his way to becoming an Eagle Scout Chadd earned the rank of First Class within his first year. Chadd’s Life project was the total reorganization and building of two wooden handled carriers to house all the Troops Merit Badge Books. Chadd is a Brotherhood member of the Sac-N-Fox Lodge 108, Order of the Arrow; Scouting’s National Honor Society. Over the past seven years Chadd has enjoyed many activities, adventures and campouts. Chadd has earned a total of 48 Merit Badges and is working on his Eagle Palms. Chadd has completed 76 nights of camping, earning him the National Badge for Camping, with on Gold Device also earned. Chadd has also earned and received his Red Flannel Camper Badge, His God and Family Award and his Zero Hero Camping Badge for cold weather camping. While getting his Zero Hero, temperatures reached -28 degree while sleeping outdoors for twenty four hours. Chadd has completed 3 years of Snowy Owl and 3 years of Klondike Derby, serving as staff on both in 2012. In 2010 Chadd attended the National Scout Jamboree at Fort A.P. Hill, VA. In 2011 Chadd attended the Northern Tier cold weather camping called Okpik and later that year attended a Youth Leader Training Conference in the Big Horn Mountains of Wyoming, called Eagle Claw, where he earned his Leave No Trace Outdoor Ethics Trainer Badge. In 2012 Chadd will be attending the National Sea Base in the Florida Keys. Chadd will be returning to the Big Horns for another Eagle Claw, and in 2013 Chadd will be attending the National Scout Jamboree at the 1st ever Bechtel Summit in West Virginia. Chadd’s Eagle project was completed in October of 2011. ISU marketing chapter wins first-place in competition AMES — The Iowa State National Agri-Marketing Association (NAMA) chapter won first-place in the association’s Student Marketing Team Competition, held in conjunction with the association’s annual conference and trade show, April 17-20 in Kansas City, Mo. Marketing team members included: Brittany Jurgemeyer, of Rockwell, a senior in public service and administration in agriculture, and Andy Edson, of Nashua, a junior in agricultural business. To compete, students developed a business plan and professional presentation to market a new product or service. This year the team marketed Caridea Farms fresh Iowa-raised shrimp. The team was judged by a panel of marketing and agribusiness profes-

sionals. The chapter’s marketing team advanced to the final round of competition, ultimately beating out 29 other universities for the first-place honors. This is the first time Iowa State University has won the national competition. The chapter also won the John Deere Signature award for overall points accrued for student participation, involvement in the national competition, scholarship awards and annual report. The team received $3,000 with the award that will be used for future chapter activities.

The winners were selected on the basis of academic performance, and participation in community service projects that exemplify the Rotary motto, “Service Above Self.” Scholarship recipients are: Laura Dobryzinski, the daughter of Edward and Kathy Dobryzinski. She will attend Luther College. Alexandra Dunlay, the daughter of Patrick and Tiffany Dunlay. She will attend Creighton University this fall.
