DAY TO REMEMBER In Loving Memory Celebrating the life of Elmer Stanley Wodarcak. On Tuesday, September 22, we would have celebrated Stan’s 89th birthday. But Stan took his last breath peacefully, and unexpectedly, on Sunday evening, May 24, 2015, at Mercy Medical CenterNorth Iowa, where he took his first breath on September 22, 1926. He was the first child born to Stanley J. and Anzonetta B. (Long) Wodarcak. He attended public school and graduated with the Mason City Mohawk Class of ‘44. Following this he enlisted in the U.S. Navy at age 17 serving until he was honorably discharged. He continued his education at Mason City Junior College, graduating with his fellow Trojans in 1947. In the fall of 1947 he enrolled as an undergraduate at
Drake University in Des Moines. Stan experienced many things in his working career from traveling, working with the US Postal Service, to finding success in the tourism and hospitality business. In November of 1956 he married Frances Riddle in the Worth County Court
House, Northwood. This marriage dissolved after more than thirty years, which was when he retired and moved back to his home territory to spend time with his family. Frances preceded him in death. Stan was an avid sports fan of any and all kinds. He soaked up statistics, world events, and was phenomenal in his recollection of the past. As our family reference, ‘Stan The Man’ is truly missed. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by paternal Polish grandparents, other family members, and one sister, Wanita Ward. He is survived by his youngest sister, Pauline and her husband, Dick Nickerson, Clear Lake, along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is buried beside his parents at Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City, Iowa.
