Taylor Thompson named to AllAcademic Team FAYETTE — Taylor Thompson, of Forest City, and a sophomore at Upper Iowa University, was named to the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference All-Academic Team for the 2014 fall athletic season. To be eligible for the honor, the student-athlete must be a member of the varsity traveling team and have a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 or better. Thompson plays football at Upper Iowa University.
Carthage College announces Dean’s List KENOSHA, Wis. — Carthage College named Elizabeth Olson, of Forest City, to its Dean’s List for academic excellence during the 2014 fall semester. Dean’s List honors are awarded to students who achieve a 3.5 grade point average, while carrying at least 14 credit hours during a semester.
Military notes Army Private First Class Caleb J. Witham graduated from basic combat training at Fort Benning, Georgia. He is the son of Cindy and Ken Witham, of Algona, and is a 2014 graduate of Algona High School. Army Private Zachary K. Hueneman graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, South Carolina. He is the son of David Hueneman, of Garner, and is a 2014 graduate of Garner-Hayfield/Ventura High School.
Ginapp induced into Eta Sigma Delta honor society AMES — Kathrine Ginapp, an AESHM (Apparel, Events and Hospitality Management) student in the College of Human Sciences at Iowa State University, was inducted into the Eta Sigma Delta honor society. Ginapp, of Garner, is a graduate student at Iowa State. Eta Sigma Delta is an international honor society recognizing exceptional academic achievement among event and hospitality students. Graduate students must have a 3.50 grade point average, or be in the top 15 percent of their class, to be eligible.
