Anniversary Macdonald, 50 years OSAGE — Lt. j.g. William (Mac) Macdonald of Omaha, Nebraska, and Meredith (Mackin) Macdonald were united in marriage on Wednesday, Feb. 17, 1965, at Sacred Heart Church in Osage. The Nuptial Mass took place at 8 a.m. and was the earliest wedding the priest of 40 years, Father Conroy, had ever performed. The US Navy gave the groom only seven days leave to travel to Osage and be back on the ship in Long Beach, California. It was a true love story! The bride had not seen the groom in 2½ years until 2 months before the wedding. William had been on Guam while the bride graduated from college. The couple plan a quiet celebration. No cruise for this old sailor unless he is driving the ship. The couple have three children and four grandchildren. If desired, cards may be sent to 814 Ash St., Osage, IA 50461

Wessels, Smith John and Lisa Wessels of Allison, Iowa, are pleased to announce the engagement and upcoming wedding of their daughter, Larissa Ann Wessels, to Matthew Stephen Smith, son of Steve and Gail Smith of St. Ansgar, Iowa. Larissa’s grandparents are William F. and Betty Wadey of Nashua, Iowa, and Paul and Gertrude Wessels of Allison, Iowa. Matthew’s grandparents are Jim and Nancy Bell of St. Ansgar, Iowa, and Gayle Smith of San Antonio, Texas. His great-grandparents are Rudy and Arlene Tesch of St. Ansgar, Iowa. Larissa is a student at the University of Northern Iowa and is currently pursuing her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. She is employed at Allen Hospital in Waterloo, Iowa, and Western Homes in Cedar Falls, Iowa. Matthew graduated from Hawkeye Tech with a degree in Graphic Design. He is currently employed at Blain’s Farm & Fleet in Cedar Falls, Iowa. Matthew also serves as a Combat Engineer for the 832nd Engineer Company in the Iowa Army National Guard. The wedding will take place in June 2015 in Waverly, Iowa. The couple plans on residing in Cedar Falls, Iowa.

Cooper Wilson to be honored at Eagle Scout Ceremony Cooper Wilson, born July 17, 1996, is the son of Wade and Kaye Wilson. Cooper has one brother, Cody who is an Eagle Scout, and one sister, Samantha. Cooper is a senior at Clear Lake High School. He started cub scouts in the second grade with his mother Kaye and Al Hancock as his den leaders. Cooper progressed through cub scouts with Pack 203 and received the Arrow of Light Award in 2008, which is the highest award in Cub Scouts. He is currently a member of Troop 30 which he joined in January of 2008. Cooper has held many leadership positions with Troop 30, including Senior Patrol Leader, Patrol High Hopes for Hayden Leader, Assistant Patrol Leader, Quarter Master and Librarian.
