Kayla is the daughter of Ted and Jean Bina-McNally of Monona, Iowa, and the late Andrew Bina.

Kayla’s grandparents are the late Robert and Genevieve Pesek of Schley, Iowa, and the late Victor and Lillian Bina of Spillville, Iowa.

James’s parents are Dale and Lori Dontje of Forest City. James’s grandparents are David and Susan Dontje of Forest City, and Jon and Shirley Ross of Deerwood, Minn., and the late Doug Schmidt.

Since 1927 we have received thousands of letters similar to the ones above, which continue to reinforce the importance and true meaning of the Christmas Cheer Fund.

Letters from children, adults and letters received anonymously, all asking for a little support during the holiday season.

The 2011 Cheer Fund goal is $115,000. “ These people are not asking for elaborate gifts. They just want a little extra money to help buy food and other necessities,” said Globe-Gazette Publisher Howard Query. “This Fund is one way people can spread holiday joy.”

LAKE Mills - Lake Mills resident Roger Monson decided to restore his 1953 Chevy 3100 pick-up truck. He has owned this pick-up ever since his dad retired from farming. His father bought this pick-up new in 1953. After his dad retired from farming Roger purchased this truck from his father. Roger used this pick-up for fishing and hunting.

My 1999 Chevy Lumina had so many great memories attached to it, from the time my step-mom Sharon showed it to me after they had just bought it (she loved her car) to riding in it to attend her funeral in October 2005.
