Thank You Mason City Noon Rotary Club members and their children recently assembled 150 layettes for mothers and newborn babies in Nicaragua. Rotary club members, friends, and businesses contributed more than $5,000 to purchase the layette items to
help mothers and newborns survive the first critical weeks of life in Nicaragua. Each layette included cloth diapers and pins, infant Tshirts, receiving blankets, bath and hand towels, wash cloths, baby soap, diaper ointment, nail clippers, brush and comb. This is the seventh year that the Mason City Noon Rotary

Margaret Hanawalt scholarships awarded to MCHS students graduates pursuing careers in the arts who have completed their freshman year in college. The endowment was established in 1998 by Margaret Hanawalt in honor of her sons, both of whom were interested in the arts. Dennis Blaas died in 1993 at the age of 32. Steven Blaas died in 1998 at the age 37. The Education Foundation of Mason Public Schools was established in 1995 to help strengthen community and alumni participation in the public schools. It is overseen by a nine-member board of directors. Tax-deductible donations, as well as designated gifts and memorials, may be directed toward special
