Sondhi named M.C. Rotary Club ‘Student of the Month’ MASON CITY — Arun Sondhi, a senior at Mason City High School, was selected as the Mason City Noon Rotary Club’s “Student of the Month” for December. He is Sondhi the son of Satish and Simi Sondhi. Sondhi is a member of the Mason City High School Student Senate, Mason City High School Symphonic Band, and Mohawk Power for four years. He has been in Jazz Band II for two years and has been the Junior and Senior Marching Band drum major. He is a twoyear letter winner in band and is part of the Masonion yearbook staff. Sondhi has also been involved in the boys tennis team for the last three years. His awards and honors include: Principal’s List, Honor Roll, Who’s Who Among American High School Students and NCIBA Honor Band. Sondhi’s community activities include volunteering at the Mercy Medical Center — North Iowa Gift Shop and ringing the bell for the Salvation Army. Sondhi plans to attend a college in Iowa to pursue a career in either math or science.

Natasha graduated from Osage High School in 2004, and from the University of Northern Iowa in 2008 in psychology/sociology. She will graduate from the University of Northern Iowa in 2011 with a masters in school counseling. She is finishing her internship at Spirit Lake CSD in Spirit Lake. DEREK NELSON, of Treynor, is the son of Celeste Nelson of Treynor, and the late Terry Nelson. Derek graduated from Treynor High School in 2003, and from Iowa State University in 2008 in industrial engineering. He
is a manufacturing engineer at Polaris in Spirit Lake. The couple will be married at 2 p.m. Feb. 14, 2011, on the beach in Riviera Maya, Mexico.
