ous camping trips throughout the years of scouting. Logan went to the 2010 National Boy Scouts Jamboree, commemorating 100 years of Boy Scouting in the USA. The Jamboree was held in Fort A.P. Hill, Virginia in July 2010, and was a ten day event. In September 2011, Logan’s Eagle Scout Service Project was completed and was coordinated through Lime Creek Nature Center. With guidance from his Uncle Randy Pearce and assistance from troop members and his family, he completed a two-fold project that benefited the Cerro Gordo County Conservation Department and the Lime Creek Nature Center. One part of the project consisted of the building of seventeen

bat houses to be placed in several Cerro Gordo County Parks and Campground Shelters to provide a more ecological solution to insect control. The other part of the project consisted of six fishing line recyclers for wildlife pond areas in Cerro Gordo County. This will contribute to a cleaner environment and will raise awareness about the proper disposal of unwanted fishing line. Logan is the first family member on the Pearce side and the second family member on the Zook side to receive the rank of Eagle Scout. It was also earned by his late Uncle, Al Zook. The title of “Eagle Scout” is held for life, thus giving rise to the phrase, “Once an Eagle, always an Eagle.”
