Birkedal, Wagner OSAGE — Kristina Wagner and Brian Birkedal were united in marriage on Dec. 31, 2011, at Rock Creek Lutheran Church in Osage, Iowa, by Pastor Roger Tornes and Pastor John Bates. Kristina is the daughter of Al Wagner of Fennimore, Wis., and Robin Wagner of Mason City, Iowa. Kristina’s grandparents are Delores Fike of Rudd, Iowa, and Eugenia Wagner of Riceville, Iowa. Brian’s parents are Mark and Char Birkedal of Osage. Brian’s grandparents are Louis Hennen and Pat Fazio of Cold Spring, Minn. Maids of honor were Jessica Wagner and Raine Hayden. Kristina graduated in 2010 from the University of Northern Iowa with a Bachelor’s in sociology. Kristina is attending Iowa Central Community College in Fort Dodge, Iowa, for dental hygiene. Brian graduated in 2010 from the University of Northern Iowa with a Bachelor’s in secondary math education and a minor in coaching. Brian currently substitute teaches in the Fort Dodge area and is employed by Hy-Vee in Fort Dodge, Iowa.

Eugene and Mary Sukup of Sheffield, Iowa, are celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary. Eugene George Sukup and Mary Elizabeth Bielefeld were married Feb. 24, 1952, at Zion St. John Lutheran Church in Sheffield, Iowa. The couple engaged in farming in West Fork township near Dougherty and in 1963 they began Sukup Manufacturing Co. in a welding shop in Sheffield. It has grown to be the world’s largest family-owned grain bin manufacturer. Eugene has served on the Franklin County 4-H Committee, local school board and Waldorf College Board of Regents. He is a member of the Iowa Inventor’s Hall of Fame, has twice received the Governor’s New Product Award, and along with his wife, Mary, was recently inducted into the Iowa Business Hall of Fame. Eugene and Mary were recently made honorary alumni of Iowa State University. Mary has been active in the business since its inception. She has also been active with the Tentmakers Youth Ministries and Lutheran Women’s Groups. Eugene and Mary have been blessed with two sons — Charles and Mary Sukup of Dougherty and Steven and Vicki Sukup of Clear Lake. Their blessings continue with six grandchildren, Nick Sukup, Crystal and Matt Koch (Lily and Zander), and Emily and Andy Schmitt, all of Clear Lake; Elizabeth Sukup, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia; Andrew Sukup, Iowa City; Jonathan Sukup, Ames.
