Hopper, Pederson wedding David Hopper and Mary Pederson were married at The Chapel in the Sky in Las Vegas, Nev., on July 24, 2013. They celebrated with family and friends on the Lady of the Lake on September 7, 2013.

David is the son of Dave and Linda Hopper of Clear Lake. He is a 1997 graduate of Clear Lake High School and graduated from Iowa State University. He is employed at the DNR as an Environmental Specialist.

Mary is the daughter of Kevin Pederson of Oskaloosa, Iowa, and Patti Pederson of Albert Lea, Minn.

She is a 2001 graduate from LeMars Community High School. She graduated from Luther College, and received a Master of Arts in Occupational Therapy from the College of St. Catherine’s. She is employed at Mercy Medical Center as an Occupational Therapist. In the spring, they will be taking over the family business, Natural Plus Nursery.

Military Notes Command Sgt. Maj. Rachel L. Fails made history as she became the first female senior enlisted leader for the Iowa National Guard, following a change of responsibility ceremony held at Camp Dodge in Johnston, Iowa.

Fails replaced Command Sgt. Maj. John H. Breitsprecker, who served

in that position since November 2009. Breitsprecker retired Nov. 2, from the Iowa National Guard, after more than 34 years of military service.

Fails was raised in Nashua and is a 1987 graduate of Nashua High School. She has also served in the Mason City area.

Air Force Airman 1st Class Zachary A. Crain graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio, Texas. He is the son of John Crain, of Kokomo, Ind., and Christie Vela, of Hampton. He is a 2012 graduate of Western High School, Russiaville, Ind.

Matthew is the son of Joe and Laurie Boyles of Tuppers Plains, Ohio. He is the grandson of Phillip and Mary Lou Boyles of Parkersburg, W.V., and Ralph Matthews of The Villages, Fla. Maid of Honor was Kristina Carberry, sister of the bride. Bridesmaids were Ashley Lawson, Jessica Hensley, Janae Boyles, and Kathrine Krukow. Flower girl was Rebecca Meyering. Personal attendant was Kim Meyering.

Best Man was Nic Cartee, friend of the groom.

Groomsmen were Mike Lawson, Brad Hensley, Michael Meyering, and Scott McNutt. Ring Bearers were Nate Lawson and Toby Hutchison.

The reception and dance were held at the Duncan Ballroom hosted by Nancy and John Ketelsen, and Tim and Karen Frederickson.

Beth is a 2004 graduate of Garner-Hayfield High School, and currently works for the Clear Lake Fire Dept.

Matthew is a 2000 graduate of Eastern High School in Tuppers Plains, Ohio, and currently works for Boyles Supply Co., and Best Buy in Mason City.

Following their honeymoon to California, the couple resides in Clear Lake.

Maya Jo Stack DENVER, Iowa — Jon and Lindsay Stack of Denver, Iowa, are the parents of a daughter, Maya Jo Stack, born Oct. 4, 2013, at Allen Hospital in Waterloo, Iowa. She weighed 7 pounds, 6 ounces and was 20 inches long.

Maya Jo is welcomed by proud grandparents Joleen and Bob Kalvig, Mason City; Darla and Dave Stack, Waverly, and great-grandparents Eleanor and Norman Olk, Sheffield. Proud uncles are Josh Kalvig and wife, Jessica, and Cody Kalvig and his fiancé Stephanie.

The couple will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary with a family weekend in Minneapolis. The couple’s children and their spouses are Gary and Barb Reynolds (Mason City, Iowa), Jim and Karla Reynolds (Ankeny, Iowa) and Cal and Cheri Thomazin (Mason City, Iowa). They have six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
