Elana Aldrich, born Elana Levinson, and Christopher Aldrich married on June 23, 2012 in Iowa City. Their service at the Newman Catholic Center interwove Jewish and Christian traditions into a ceremony planned by the couple to welcome all faiths amongst their guests to celebrate their marriage.

Elana was attended by her maid of honor Ashley Graves, the grooms’ sisters and family and friends from her childhood, college years and Chicago years.

Christopher’s best man was Nick Hoskyn, and his groomsmen included the brides’ brothers and family and friends from his childhood, football years and college/dental school.

The ceremony was followed by a reception given by their parents, Dr. Gary Levinson, Jackie Armstrong and Mike and Jane Aldrich at the Sheraton Hotel.

Elana and Chris postponed their honeymoon in favor of starting to work in Madison, Wis. Christopher is working at Meriter hospital in a dental internship and Elana is working at the Dane County jail, providing mental health services, and at J Crew.

MANKATO, Minn. — Ryan Davis and Teresa Boutwell were married June 22, 2012. The ceremony was held at Sibley Park in Mankato, Minn., and the reception was held at the Best Western in North Mankato, Minn.

Ryan is the son of Sheila and Dan Davis, of Forest City.

Teresa is the daughter of Kathy Boutwell of Madelia, Minn., and Glenn Boutwell of Marshall, Minn.

The couple resides in North Mankato, Minn. Ryan is a team lead at Target in Mankato and a Tech Sergeant with the Air National Guard based out of St. Paul, Minn. Teresa is an account specialist with CHS, Inc. in Mankato.

Renshaw, 70 years Happy First Anniversary WEST DES MOINES — Kelsey Ray and Garrett Christeson were united in marriage on Aug. 27, 2011, at Glen Oaks Country Club in West Des Moines, Iowa, by the Honorable Steven M. Egli.

Kelsey is the daughter of Tab and Marge Ray of Waverly. Kelsey’s grandparents are Jackye Ray of Boone, Iowa, and Donald and Shirley Burnett of Iowa City, Iowa.

Garrett is the son of Alan and Dianne Christeson of Rockford. Garrett’s grandparents are Robert and Sadie Echelbarger of Mason City, Iowa, and the late Ben and Beulah deBuhr of Rockford, Iowa.

Maid of honor was Jennifer Parscal. Kelsey’s other attendants were Kimberly Sandhu, Shannon Conn and Courtney Cocchran. Best man was Brent Christeson.

Garrett’s other attendants were Jasper Ray, Corey Kalina and Christopher Franken.

The ring bearer was Hayden Parscal. Ushers were Neal and Nicholas deBuhr, nephews of the groom. Music was by soloist Amber Dumstra (Ben Hagen Trio), and the Rhapsody String Quartet. The music selection was “The Story ” by Brandi Carlile.

A reception was held at Glen Oaks Country Club and was hosted by Dan and Gretta Geneser and Dennis and Jenny Bockhaus.

Kelsey graduated from Waverly High School. She is employed by Hudson, Mallany, Shindler and Anderson Law Firm of West Des Moines, Iowa. Garrett graduated from Rockford Senior High School and Wartburg College. Garrett is employed by Lightedge Solutions, of Des Moines, as Senior Accounts Manager.

The couple honeymooned in Puerta Vallarta, Mexico.

They are at home in Clive, Iowa.

June and Keith Ransom, of Ventura, will celebrate their 70th wedding anniversary on Sunday, Sept. 2, with an open house hosted by their children, from 2:30-4:30 p.m. at the Surf Ballroom Lounge in Clear Lake. June and Keith, who loved to dance to the big bands, met at the old Surf Ballroom and were married on Sept. 6, 1942. No gifts, please.

The couple has four children: Nancy Gerardi-Wilhelm (Ken) of Columbia, Mo.; Duane Ransom of Garner; Julie Holloway (Gary) of West Plains, Mo., and Doug Ransom of Clear Lake. There are seven grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

KANAWHA — Nicole Johnson and Tanner Riedesel were united in marriage on June 2, 2012 at Kanawha Lutheran Church, in Kanawha, by Pastors Geoffrey and Char White.

Nicole is the daughter of Karl and Sherrie Johnson, of Kanawha, and granddaughter of LaVonne Smidt, of Kanawha.

Tanner is the son of Kim and Dale Dornbier, of Wesley, and Joel and Jean Riedesel, of Spencer. Tanner’s grandparents are Rosemary and Robert Snyder, of Wesley, and John and Jane Riedesel of Grand Mound, Iowa.

Maid of honor was Rachel Johnson. Nicole’s other attendants were Morgan Johnson, Lindsey George, Kathleen Pistik, Rachel Diemer, Jessica Otto, Rachelle Bonert, and Ashley Riedesel.

Nicole graduated from West Hancock High School, and is self-employed at Nikki’s Hair Studio, of Kanawha. Tanner graduated from Algona High School, and is employed by Prairie Energy Coop of Garner.

The couple will reside in Kanawha.

STACY HARTY, of Dubuque, is the daughter of Tim and Melody Harty, of Nora Springs. Stacy graduated from Mason City High School in 2002 and from college in 2010 with a degree in Respiratory Therapy. She is employed by Midwest Sleep Services as a RT/Sleep Technician.

Creighton University Dean’s List

Sister Cities International winner OSAGE — Danielle Hejhal, of Osage, won the grand prize in the 2012 Young Author Showcase, an annual competition, sponsored by Sister Cities International.

The Young Artists and Authors Showcase, encourages youth, 13 to 18 years from around the globe, to express the mission of Sister Cities International through original artwork and literature.

Hejhal was recognized for her essay titled, “Connections, Hope, Promise for the Future.”

The artwork and literature was sent from member cities to Washington D.C. where a panel of judges selected the winners based on originality, composition and theme intrepretation.

MASON CITY — The Margaret Hanawalt Endowment scholarship was awarded to two Mason City High School graduates, members of the Education Foundation of Mason City Public Schools announced.

Anna Fewins, a sophomore at the University of Northern Iowa, was awarded the Steven Blaas Music Scholarship. Dimitria Klein, a senior at the University of Northern Iowa, was awarded the Dennis Blaas Art Scholarship.

The $2,000 scholarships are awarded annually to MCHS graduates pursuing careers in the arts, who have completed their freshman year in college.

The endowment was established in 1998 by Margaret Hanawalt in honor of her sons, both of whom were interested in the arts. Dennis Blaas died in 1993 at the age of 32. Steven Blaas died in 1998 at the age of 37.

The Education Foundation of Mason City public schools was established in 1995 to help strengthen community and alumni participation in the public schools. It is overseen by a nine-member board of directors. Taxdeductible donations, as well as designated gifts and memorials, may be directed toward special needs of the school system, including scholarships.
