Bachelor’s and Associate’s students named to the Dean’s List in the health sciences programs must complete at least eight semester hours and achieve a grade point average of 3.5 or above. Kurash is a 2006 graduate of Charles City High School and a 2010 graduate of the University of North-

ern Iowa, Cedar Falls.

Dr. Kurash will be working at the Center for Athletic Performance and Physical Therapy in Scottsdale. He is the son of Doug and Kaye (Pals) Kurash., Mesa, Ariz., and grandson of Ruth N. Pals, of Belmond.

ISEA Design-A-Decal contest winners DES MOINES — Taylor Dahl and Pete Hagenson, both juniors at Lake Mills High School, are among the winners in the Design-A-Decal contest, sponsored by the Iowa State Education Association.

Dahl was recognized for her sticker design, “Go Get ‘Em Tiger,” and Hagenson was recognized for his sticker design, “Rock On.” Students competed in three, grade-level categories: elementary (K-5); junior high/middle school (6-8); and high school (9-12). The 24-winning designs are printed in full color on sheets of one-inch square stickers and each design is featured twice.

The Design-a-Decal program helps give statewide recognition to young art students when their winning designs are printed on stickers, and teachers use them to give positive feedback to their students.

To be printed in the Sunday’s Celebrations section and Online, items must be in the Globe Gazette office no later than 5 pm Monday prior to publication. Waldorf College honors FOREST CITY — Four students were recognized for their academic excellence at Waldorf College’s opening convocation ceremony Friday, Aug. 23.

Abigail Buehler, of Dodge Center, Minn.; Cody Clark, of Lexington, S.C.; Maggie Eden, of Britt, and Haley Rubin, of Brandon, S.D., were awarded sophomore honors at the annual event for first-year students.

The sophomores received certificates commemorating their achievement.

Each year, the top four students of the incoming sophomore class are recognized at the ceremony.

“Recognizing successful second-year students at the opening convocation ceremony is a way of showing new students what they can achieve in their first year at Waldorf,” said Waldorf College President Bob Alsop.
