How much fun do you think our carriers have?

During a snow storm or a North lowa blizzard, very little. But day in... day out... regardless of weather conditions, our newspaper carriers battle the elements through rain, sleet or snow. And on occasion we’re out in full force delivering your newspaper in conditions often unfit for man nor beast. As such, we’d like to take a moment and thank our independent contract carriers for all they do, day after day. We’d also like to remind everyone to please clear a path for them as quickly as possible and always leave a porch light on for the sake of safety. Icy, snow covered sidewalks can turn out to be a treacherous pathway to an accident. Please help us by keeping them cleared of snow and ice. And the next time you see your carrier be sure to offer a word of thanks... for they’re often out braving the elements when no one else will. PRINT ONLINE MOBILE TABLET

The family of Ed Meyer would like to extend our gratitude to all our family and friends with a sincere thank you for all the food, beautiful flowers and plants, cards and memorials, prayers, and kind words of comfort. A special thank you to Pastor Jeni Bohls for her wonderful service, the VFW for the military honors and presentation of the flag, and Ladies of St. James for serving lunch. Ed was loved and will be missed especially by his family and friends.

I want to thank all my friends and neighbors that attended my 90th birthday party at the Clarion Inn and sent a sea of birthday cards and well wishes for the future! It was far beyond my expectations! A great thank you to my family — daughter June Newman, daughter-in-law Martha Taylor, and their spouses, son Mark Taylor and son-in-law Mark Newman for their part! Thanks a million to everyone that remembered an older person (not old!) that has thoroughly enjoyed a career of family, farming, and 52 years of professional auctioneering. As we continue on looking forward to the future of many more years of the same, only in a slower pace. The largest part of my life was missing — losing my partner of 62 years 3-1/2 years ago. Eva would have had a ball! Again, Thanks! Col. Gordon E. Taylor
