MANLY — A.J. and Gretchen Stone, of Manly, are the proud parents of their daughter Alaina Grace, born on February 21, at 10:25 a.m. at Mercy Medical CenterNorth Iowa. She weighed 6 pounds, 11 ounces, and was 20¾ inches long. She is welcomed by her grandparents Mark and Jennifer Cottrell of Kensett, Sue Stone of Mason City, Bryan and Brenda Stone of Charles City. Greatgrandparents are Walt and Betty Berry of Mason City, Bill and Zell Cottrell of Mason City, Gary and Bonnie Sutherland of Marshalltown, and Ed and JoAnn Degeus of Britt. We would like to thank the staff of the Birth Center at Mercy for making our new adventure possible. We wouldn’t be here without you.

Beth Ann graduated from Forest City High School in 2005, and the University of Northern Iowa in 2009 with a degree in Interior Design. She is employed by Krueger International in Chicago, Ill. Ita Mayasari and Zach Tompkins were united in marriage on Aug. 16, 2013, in Mason City, Iowa. A reception was held at the Fox Ridge Golf Course in Dike, Iowa, on Oct. 19, 2013. Ita is the daughter of Said and Letty of Mataram, Indonesia, on the island of Lombok. Zach’s parents are Al and Marian Tompkins of Clear Lake, Iowa. A ceremony was also held in Lombok, Indonesia, with Ita’s family and friends on March 13, 2014. The couple met while Ita was studying at the University of Northern Iowa for a Master’s in Teaching English as a Second Language. She is currently working at Pusat Bahasa, University of Mataram in fulfillment of her Fulbright Scholarship requirements. Zach is employed by Wells Fargo in Waterloo, Iowa.

Hawkeye Harvest honors Volunteers MASON CITY — The Hawkeye Harvest Food Bank honored volunteers at its annual volunteer appreciation lunch recently. Michael Sherrick and Bob Zinnel were recognized for giving 100 hours of their time to volunteer service. Rick Branan, Bert Bryant, Carol Clayton, Dave Dunn, Stephen Duvall, Nelson Miles and Shirley Petersen were recognized for reaching the 1,000-hour level of volunteer hours for the food bank. Hawkeye Harvest Food Bank is an all volunteer, non- profit, local organization with 80 people donating their time to collect food, pick up donations, sort donations, fill the shelves and store rooms and provide emergency food and nonperishables. Cox, Burton Kayla Law Cox and James Eric Burton were united in marriage on Friday, Nov. 8, 2013, at five o’clock in the afternoon at the Conservatory at Waterstone in Acworth, Georgia. The ceremony was officiated by Michael Smith, step-father of the groom. Following the ceremony a reception was held at the Conservatory at Waterstone. On the eve of the wedding, the groom’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner at Henrys Uptown in Acworth. The bride is the daughter of Rhonda Forrest of Marietta, Georgia, and Charles and Lei Ann Law of Dallas, Georgia. She is the granddaughter of Jack and Shirley Jones of Mableton, Georgia, the late Charles and Martha Law and the late Frank Taylor. The groom is the son of Michael and Pamela Smith of Acworth, Georgia, and Benji Burton of Hannibal, Missouri. He is the grandson of Marylou Thompson of Mason City, Iowa, and the late George Thompson, Fay Smith of Taylor, South Carolina, and Ben and Sherry Burton of Dodge, Nebraska.
