The census figures for December 1973 show a sma11 in。 crease of 6 per cent in overa11 membership as compared to the total for December 1972。 frhis is encouraging, as the year under revieⅥ厂Was not a period of deveIopment。 There was a

genera1 increase in the number of groups and sections except in the case of Ven扭 re scout units and Cadet units。 si1nⅡ ar1y,

there has been an increase in the number of boy members of the Movement but in the case of adults there was a drop in the toatl figures for (Cadets and scouters。

Th、 Regional Jamboree,the very first of its kind,was held in the Phnippines from 28th December, 1973 to 4th January, 1974。 The Hong1Kong Contingent,with the Chief CoⅡ nissioner Yeung Yiu Tin, assisted by as H【 on。 Leader,was led by Mr。 Deputy Contingent Leaders Messrs。 Ⅴincent Chang and Anthony Hung。 Together with another 164 Scouts, Venture scouts and scouters, and 96 members of the Association Bnnd, the Hong KOng Contingent was the second largθ st overseas contingent 1Ⅱ

to attend this historica11y significant scouting event。

Two

chartered p1anes left Hong Kong on 26th and 27th December

and returned to Hong Kong on 6th and 7th January。

The

participants brought back most valuable1nemories of friendship, brotherhood, and fe11owship。

During the year under review, the Headquarters of the Hong Kong Branch did not undertake any Fund Raising CaΠ ⒈ paign。 The three Regions and the Friends of Scouting were

authorised to conduct their own fund raising efforts in order that they △1ight through their own achievements improve their

scouts participated。

This was the first occasion on whioh the major units of the Hong Kong Branch were asked to conduct financia1 footing。

tb~eir own fund raising and the results were very successfu1。 With part of the proceeds the four rnajor units have estabⅡ shed :ve funds which should enable them to continue operations reseェ during 1ean years。
