WHY STUDY FILM AND MEDIA AT GLOUCESTERSHIRE COLLEGE? No other educational establishment in the country offers better industry standard training on the latest digital technology.

INDUSTRY PROFESSIONALS The course connects students with industry professionals. Recent master-class’ include workshops with Philip Bloom, David and Eve Richards (The Underwater Realm), and Peter Gustafsson from Ikonoscop in Sweden.

As a student, you will train, and work with, the RED Cinema Camera (used on Hollywood blockbusters like The Hobbit, Pirates of the Caribbean and The Amazing Spiderman), the high frame rate Sony FS700, the Black Magic Cinema Camera and the latest DSLRs. Photography pathway students will work with the Hasselblad high resolution stills camera, the Canon 5D Mark III and various other professional DSLRs. Film, photography and media students work on sets using the latest Apple and Adobe software. You will learn how to edit on the all the major systems, Final Cut X, Adobe Creative Suite 6, and Avid Media Composer. Post-production work will include colour grading on Da Vinci Resolve, Speed Grade, and Red Cine X. Course trips include visits to Warner Bro’s Studios, Pinewood Studios, working trips to mainland Europe, and screenings at Cinema de Lux in Bristol.

COURSES THE HND IN FILM This unique course acts as a doorway to achieving your ambitions in the industry. Students learn the theory and practice of filmmaking, the business of film, and set practice. TV studio work is an essential part of the Film pathway. You will also spend time learning film aesthetics and screenwriting. Watching and discussing contemporary World Cinema will form an important part of your education during your time on the course. The HND in Film gives you the skills to progress onto film work in both the mainstream TV/film industry, and independent moving image productions like company promos, commercials, documentaries and music videos.

THE EXTENDED DIPLOMA IN CREATIVE MEDIA PRODUCTION This level three program boasts industry active lecturers teaching units like Journalism, Understanding the Media Industries, Film Studies, Single Camera Drama, and Radio production. Students from the course progress onto the HND in Film at Gloucestershire College; other students have gained admission to courses at the University of London, Brighton, Ravensbourne, Bournemouth, University College for the Creative Arts, and University of the Arts London.
