supervision), Lawrence Goldberg (music direction), Doug Besterman (orchestrations), David Chase (dance arranger), and casting by Telsey + Company/Craig Burns, CSA.
From the Tony Award®-winning creators of the Broadway classic Ragtime and inspired by the beloved films, Anastasia is “one of the most gorgeous shows in years!” (New York Observer).
Anastasia began performances on March 23, 2017 at the Broadhurst Theatre (235 West 44th Street) and has played to sold-out crowds on Broadway since officially opening in April 2017, in addition to garnering multiple Tony, Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle awards and nominations.
Anastasia transports us from the twilight of the Russian Empire to the euphoria of Paris in the 1920s, as a brave young woman, Anya, sets out to discover the mystery of her past. Pursued by a ruthless Soviet officer determined to silence her, she enlists the aid of a dashing conman and a lovable ex-aristocrat. Together, they embark on an epic adventure to help her find home, love, and family. It features a book by celebrated playwright Terrence McNally, a lush, new score by Stephen Flaherty (music) and Lynn Ahrens (lyrics) with direction by Tony Award-winning director Darko Tresnjak. The creative team also includes Peggy Hickey (choreography), Alexander Dodge (set design), Linda Cho (costume design), Donald Holder (lighting design), Peter Hylenski (sound design), Aaron Rhyne (projection design), Charles G. LaPointe (hair/wig design), Joe Dulude II (makeup design), Tom Murray (music IF YOU GO: Anastasia March 19-24 TPAC’s Jackson Hall 505 Deaderick St.

TPAC expands Disney Musicals in Schools program into Bedford County The school team for Deery Eakin Elementary School in Shelbyville discusses their show options for Disney Musicals in Schools.
F
or the first time since launching a pilot Disney Musicals in Schools program in 2011, TPAC is expanding it to students and educators outside Davidson County, inviting two elementary schools in Shelbyville to participate. Eakin Elementary School and Learning Way Elementary School are the first schools outside Metro Nashville Public Schools to be included thanks to special funding to reach rural settings. Joining five newly selected Metro Schools — Amqui Elementary School, Charlotte Park Elementary School, Eagle View Elementary School, Jones Paideia Magnet Elementary School, and H.G. Hill Middle School — the Bedford County schools are taking on the powerful afterschool initiative developed by Disney Theatrical Productions to create sustainable theatre programs in underresourced schools. During a 17-week musical theatre residency, the schools receive performance rights, education support materials, and guidance from two TPAC teaching artists. Partnering with the teaching artists, the teachers will learn to produce, direct, and choreograph their first 30-minute Disney KIDS musical (a 30-minute musical designed for elementary school performers and adapted from classic Disney films). “We’ve seen how this program encourages curiosity and collaboration while improving literacy, increasing self-confidence, and building community among students, teachers, and family members,” says Kristin
Horsley, TPAC Senior Director of Education Outreach. “And we’re thrilled by the reception we’ve received in Bedford County where they see great potential for positive impacts in their communities.” To cap the experience, each school will perform one number from their musical on stage in TPAC’s Jackson Hall for an audience of students, teachers, family, and community members during a Student Share Celebration in May 2019. “The impact of Disney Musicals In Schools is an entry point for students who may not have found their voice yet, and also helps with personal expression and self-confidence, and promotes collaboration and leadership – all extremely valuable life skills. We’re proud to be able to help them expand, grow and reach more and more students,” says Tiffany Kerns, Executive Director of CMA Foundation which has provided financial support for the local program since 2013. So far, more than 40 Metro Schools have participated in the program, with 5,576 students and nearly 200 teachers working together to create a culture of musical theatre in their schools. ♦ Learn more at TPAC.ORG/Disney.
