2021 HIGHLIGHTS:

• A Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between the 7 Philippine Universities was signed on May 14, 2021.

• A virtual signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the

Magic 7 Philippine SUCs and the

University of Saskatchewan (USask) was conducted on May 14, 2021.

• On August 19, 2021, the Magic 7 launched the Indigenous Knowledge

Management and Systems Project.

• Twelve study leaders were selected for the BSU IKMS Project, “Encyclopedia on Ethno-Linguistic Groups in

Benguet.

The Philippine – Canada Education Consortium (Magic 7+) is a composition of 7 Philippine State Universities ( Benguet State University, Central Luzon State University, Don Mariano Marcos State University, Mariano Marcos University, Mountain Province State Polytechnic College, and University of Southeastern Philippines) and 3 Canadian Higher Education Institutions (Dalhousie University, Prince Edward University and the University of Saskatchewan).The consortium aims to collaborate on the fields of agriculture, food security, climate change, and indigenous education.

A virtual signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the Magic 7 Philippine SUCs and the University of Saskatchewan (USask) was conducted on May 14, 2021. The MOU forges the partnership of the Philippine SUCs and the Canadian University in various academic and research collaborations. BSU President Felipe Salaing Comila together with the 6 Philippine SUC Presidents and USask Vice President Darcy Marciniuk signed the MOU. The same day, a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) was forged between the Philippine SUCs. The MOA entails the implementation of the Indigenous Knowledge Systems Project.

On August 19, 2021, the Magic 7 launched the Indigenous Knowledge Management and Systems Project and conducted the Inception Meeting. For BSU, Prof. Stanley F. Anongos Jr. is the project lead for the Encyclopedia on Ethno-Linguistic Groups in Benguet. Twelve study leaders were selected for the project.
