NOTES

From the Editor

Welcome to the Neighborhood Las Vegas Magazine has long been the source on how to best enjoy your time while in town—entertainment, restaurants, lounges, nightlife, you name it. But a few years ago our magazine added a new section, one that highlights our vibrant real estate market. Called “LVing,” this section features a different home for sale each week somewhere in the Las Vegas Valley. As you’ll see from turning to this week’s featured home in Centennial Hills (“Stunning Inside and Out,” p. 44), there are some truly amazing residences for sale. No doubt many of you have heard about Las Vegas’ hot real estate market, and perhaps some of you are considering dipping your toe in that market. If so, you might want to consider subscribing to our digital edition and following our section. Even if you’re not currently here enjoying all the city has to offer, you can still keep up with the latest trends. (To subscribe, click on the link at the bottom of any story on lasvegasmagazine.com.) In the meantime, get ready for a jampacked week of fun! Want to be entertained? This week, R&B superstar John Legend begins his residency at Planet Hollywood Resort (“Giving His All,” p. 30). In addition, comedy favorites Ray Romano and David Spade return to The Mirage as part of the Aces of Comedy series (“Twice

the Fun,” p. 11). Herman’s Hermits Starring Peter Noone visits the Golden Nugget for some seriously fun nostalgia (“Feel-Good Memories,” p. 13). And editor at large Brock Radke scored an interview with Deadly Games, the death-defying duo that adds an element of danger to hit show America’s Got Talent Las Vegas Live at Luxor (“Edgy Excitement,” p. 34). Thinking of getting married while you’re in Las Vegas? This is one of the best times of the year to do so, and we’ve lined up a nifty list of creative ways you can say “I do” Vegas-style (“Put a Ring On It,” p. 32). How about a great meal? Check out the newly remodeled Gordon Ramsay Burger at Planet Hollywood Resort, which now includes breakfast (“Start the Day Right,” p. 17). Or get a vino education at a new Winemakers Table Dinner series at Estiatorio Milos at The Venetian (“Greek Treats,” p. 14). For a truly old-school experience, book a table at Piero’s Italian Cuisine (“Celebrity Magnet,” p. 24). And if you’re considering a meal at Tao Asian Bistro at The Venetian, check out our Friends with Benefits feature on assistant general manager Brianna Glantz ( p. 20). Then make sure to say hello when you meet her. If you’re here just to visit, we hope to see you again. If you’ve decided to move here, we hope we had something to do with that.

Impersonators channel singing stars There are many excellent tribute shows on the Las Vegas Strip, but the longest-running one, Legends in Concert, manages to remain fresh and vital 40 years into its run. It’s an ever-revolving showcase for the best celebrity impersonators on the planet—not only do they look exactly like their real-life counterparts, they move and sing like them, too! Add in a live band and some of the most talented dancers on the Strip—not to mention another Las Vegas legend, drag queen extraordinaire Frank Marino, as host—and you have the quintessential Las Vegas show. Past shows have had themes, including the legends of British rock and legends of coun-

try, and the latest show, Legendary Divas. is a celebration of some of the most influential female superstars of the last five decades. The lineup includes: • Elisa Furr, who recently competed in the reality competition Clash of the Cover Bands, performing as Celine Dion. Expect plenty of goosebump-inducing high notes; • Lisa McClowry, belting out decades of hits, from “Believe” to “If I Could Turn Back Time” as Cher; • Tierney Allen, embodying the all-in-onepackage Lady Gaga and performing hits like “Shallow” and “Poker Face”;

• Janae Longo performing as Adele. For those who lost out on tickets to see the music superstar’s residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace, this is the next best thing. Marino, who has been performing on the Strip for decades himself in a variety of different shows, said he’s thrilled to be a part of the Legends experience. “I can honestly say thus far it’s been one of the happiest times in my career,” Marino said in a news release. “Not only is all the management great, but I also I adore everybody in the cast. Working with Legends is like one big family, and I hope this collaboration is one that will go on forever.” –Ken Miller

Twice the Fun Ray Romano and David Spade have been regular parts of our television habits for nearly 30 years now. That’s some impressive staying power. Spade came into our lives first as the snarky, sarcastic whip on Saturday Night Live in a class that also included the late Chris Farley. Spade and Farley went on to make two memorable films in the 1990s, Tommy Boy and then Black Sheep. In both films, the lovable Farley played against the snappy Spade and their physical and personality differences proved to be comedic gold. Romano created and starred in one of the most popular sitcoms of all time, Everybody Loves Raymond. The family dynamics on that show, based on Romano’s stand-up, hit home with viewers everywhere. It was relatable in a deeply funny way. And both comics are still pushing themselves as live performers. While you’re here, see why these two are likely to be around for as long as they’d like to be. –Las Vegas Magazine Staff The Mirage, 10 p.m. April 22-23. 702.792.7777

Lager Than Life At the Guinness Store, one of Ireland’s most celebrated exports gets its proper due. Located next to Irish bar and pub Rí Rá, the store features a huge range of themed merchandise, slippers, koozies, glassware (including custom-engraved pint glasses), T-shirts and hoodies and much more. And, best of all, beer! You can sip on a pint of the signature stout right there at the in-house bar, or purchase a six-pack of brews to enjoy at your leisure later, which, we’re sure, you definitely will. –Nina King The Shoppes at Mandalay Place, 702.632.7773

More Like Heaven Entertainment meets flavor at Gordon Ramsay Hell’s Kitchen. Named for Ramsay’s hit reality series, the dining room will be instantly recognizable to fans with its now-iconic red and blue kitchens. And the cuisine fans see being served on the show is all here, from the pan-seared scallops and lobster risotto to filet mignon. Most know about Ramsay’s beef Wellington, a juicy cut of meat surrounded by a pastry shell in a red wine demi-glace, but

explore the rest of the menu and you’ll find other delights. Jidori chicken scallopini is pure decadence, served with roasted pee wee potatoes, artichokes and lacinato kale, while crispy skin salmon is perfectly complemented by warm white beans, sea bean salad, Iberico chorizo, all in a citrus beurre blanc. And it wouldn’t be a Gordon Ramsay experience without the sticky toffee pudding for dessert. –Ken Miller Caesars Palace, 702.731.7373

Better Than Ever

Resident magic men bring fresh illusions There’s a particularly hilarious bit in Penn & Teller’s comeback to the Las Vegas Strip. After returning from the longest hiatus of their career, Jillette explains that Piff the Magic Dragon, who performs at Flamingo, suggested that the pair do a “greatest hits” compilation of illusions they were well familiar with, since the long layover may have left them a bit rusty. After a brief pause, Jillette announces, “So tonight we’re doing eight new illusions!” comically suggesting that it’s because the duo can’t remember the older illusions anyway. And the new material is fantastic! Expect plenty of laughs, always mixed with “How did they do that?” Here are a few high-

lights (always subject to change, given the duo’s penchant for adjusting things): • A game called “Whack a Teller,” based on the classic Whack-A-Mole” game which involves five “Tellers,” a very heavy mallet, a very, very nervous audience volunteer and plenty of talk from Jillette about “culpability” if anything were to go wrong, a discussion that eventually includes the audience; • Jillette’s “Memory Palace” segment, which genuinely appears to be a feat of memorization on a grand scale, spanning four decades. This bit uses a huge map of the U.S., a whole lot of decks of cards, and a bewildered audience volunteer. Odds are you’ll feel exactly the same;

• An examination of the Bible passage, “It is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than a rich man to enter the kingdom of Heaven.” Penn & Teller not only want to suggest that both are equally hard, they want to show how both are possible—at the same time! But fans of some of the duo’s best bits can rest easy—Teller still performs the illusion involving a large tank of water and his ability to withdraw objects from it, both inanimate and alive; and Jillette’s fire-eating prowess takes a bow as well, complete with his lengthy introduction, which drew a standing ovation from many in attendance. –Ken Miller Rio, 702.777.2782

Feel-Good Memories Few bands have the feel-good vibes of Herman’s Hermits Starring Peter Noone. Even fewer bands have their staying power—the group is nearing its sixth decade of performing, and continues to fill venues wherever they go. It might be the nostalgia aspect; it might be the irresistible hooks; it might be the British cheek. Whatever it is, there’s just something that instantly puts you in a good mood. Led by vocalist Noone, the band’s 1960s creations continue to live on, both in live performances and in pop culture. (Who can forget Patrick Swayze pestering Whoopi Goldberg with “I’m Henry the VIII, I Am” in Ghost, or the “music video” from Naked Gun to the tune of “I’m Into Something Good”?) This is definitely one of those shows where you’ll find yourself amazed at not only how many songs you recognize, but songs you didn’t realize the group recorded: “There’s a Kind of Hush,” “Silhouettes,” “Leaning on a Lamp Post” and so many more. This is a feel-good night through and through. –Ken Miller Golden Nugget, ticketmaster.com

A Plant With Purpose

New CBD-infused spa treatments bring relief to the body By now you’ve heard of the acronym CBD. A brief explanation is that it’s a extract from the cannabis sativa plant (another element of the plant is THC—you know, the “active ingredient” in cannabis). But CBD (or cannabidiol) has gained popularity for its medicinal benefits when it comes to pain management, without giving users the “high” that THC does. And now visitors to Vegas can reap the benefits of CBD with treatments at Caesars Entertainment’s spa facilities. The new treatments were introduced last year at Spa at The Linq, Spa at Flamingo, The Spa at Harrah’s, Voie Spa & Salon at Paris, Reflections Spa at Planet Hollywood Resort and Qua Baths & Spa at Caesars Palace, all of which use the CBD-infused Cause+Medic product line in treatments. You can also add on the CBD Pain Spot Treatment, which uses 400 milligrams of water-soluble CBD and other active botanicals that help target specific areas on the body and help relieve conditions like inflammation and arthritis. For more all-over-body relief, there’s also the 80-minute CBD Mud Wrap. Tired, aching feet? Cramped hands? Try the CBD Lavender Manicure or Pedicure, which uses a powerful blend of 100 milligrams of broad-spectrum CBD, dead sea salt and lavender essential oil to provide relaxation and relief to the nervous system and aching joints. “Are you going to be cured? Probably not,” says Sparkle Drebert,

spa & salon manager at The Linq and Harrah’s. “But do you feel relief? Absolutely. I’ve used Cause+Medic products myself after working out and I’ve been super sore. The next morning all my pain went away when it would normally linger. We’ve had customers get the treatments and they came back the next day and they’ve said, ‘Oh my god, this is the first time in five years that I have not been in pain and had to pop an Advil in the morning. What did you use? I have to have it.”’ All the Cause+Medic products used in the treatments are available for purchase at the spas. –Kiko Miyasato Caesars Palace, 866.782.0655; Flamingo, 702.733.3535; Harrah’s, 702.369.5126; The Linq, 702.794.3242; Paris, 702.946.4366; Planet Hollywood Resort, 702.785.5772

Start the Day Right One of the best places to get a burger on the Las Vegas Strip is Gordon Ramsay Burger, and the restaurant is now better than ever, thanks to an expansion of both the space and the menu. The venue now offers 282 seats, meaning large groups should have no problem finding a table. There’s also a larger grill, a second side station and more TVs. In addition, the breakfast menu is back on Saturdays and Sundays. From 8-11 a.m., enjoy favorites like the brunch burger, topped with eggs and bacon, along with side options like cheesy tots, topped with spice, pork, Parmesan cheese, fried chives and white cheddar ale sauce. Other morning offerings including cocktails like the Oh’ Bloody Hell, a version of the bloody Mary made with Absolut Peppar vodka and topped with crispy prosciutto, mozzarella and basil, and the Raider’s Rise, a blend of triple shot coffee, Bacardi Superior rum, Frangelico and Baileys Irish Cream. You can also indulge in healthy options like the Kale-Aid, a delicious blend including fresh pineapple juice, lemon juice and agave. –Ken Miller Planet Hollywood Resort, 702.785. 5462

Magic-Minded You may be a bit intimidated by the prospect of going to a mentalist’s show, but trust us: the star of Banachek’s Mind Games Live is very approachable. He’s a humble guy who fully admits at the beginning of his show that he’s not a psychic—just an entertainer who uses his five senses and, for lack of a better word, magic. But that doesn’t make him any less impressive when he tells you the numbers that are on your hundred-dollar bill or driver’s license. Behind the Field Whether you’re a member of Raider Nation, a fan of football or just a fan of impressive architecture, the Allegiant Stadium Tour is both money and time very well spent. The hourlong walking tour has many stops along the way, like the Level 200 suites, containing personal VIP areas for Vegas bigwigs, including Raiders owner Mark Davis. Fun fact: Davis’ suite is where you’ll find the only white stadium seating out of all of Allegiant Stadium’s 65,000 seats!

One fun stop is the Raiderettes locker room—you’ll see where they get ready for a game. You also enter the team’s locker room and check out the massage and medical areas. Other stops include the broadcast booth, the Champions Club (where celebs and A-listers hang during a game), the tunnel where the Raiders run onto the field, and the pièce de résistance, the 50-yard line. –Kiko Miyasato Allegiantstadium.com/tours

Brianna Glantz Growing a great career

Brianna Glantz is the assistant general manager of one of the country’s consistently highest-grossing restaurants. Approaching two decades in Las Vegas, Tao Asian Bistro at The Venetian has welcomed the world’s biggest stars to its dining room and attached nightclub, and it remains a city hot spot. It gets even more star power this season with the opening of the redesigned Tao Beach Dayclub (near the nightclub and restaurant). “I try to be modest about it,” says Las Vegas native Glantz. “Tao has always been a name that’s been attributed with nightlife titan. When I associate myself with being the assistant general manager of one of the highest-grossing restaurants in the country, that impostor syndrome sets in. The team works so hard; it makes sense that we’ve been able to successfully do what we do for nearly 20 years.” Glantz herself has found much success in the city. She was only 19 when she got her

first job in the food and beverage industry as a maître d’ for Giada at The Cromwell. At just 22 years old, she landed her first management job at Beauty & Essex at The Cosmopolitan, spending five years there before she helped open FUHU at Resorts World Las Vegas. In October, she joined Tao Asian Bistro. “It took me a period to figure out how to manage people and have that tact,” Glantz says. “It’s about being respectful and being an honest person and leader. When you start to lose the ability to be on the level with your team, you don’t necessarily become a leader that people want to be led by. I would like to think that I’m someone that’s one with my team.” And just as Glantz’s career has taken root and grown, so has her favorite hobby—literally. “I’m a houseplant hobbyist,” she says. “I nerd out with it. There’s like 50, 60 plants all over my house. It’s like a jungle. It’s pretty intense.” –Kiko Miyasato

Here, we break down some of the highlights on what’s new when it comes to some of the city’s 21-andover fun. Looking for a Thursday evening hot spot? Head to Four Seasons Hotel Las Vegas for its Press Play event from 5-8 p.m. The night includes specialty cocktails using Ketel One Botanical vodka, light bites like a trio of oysters and smoked salmon flatbread, and live music by Wais Katubadrau putting his own spin on popular reggae, pop and soul songs. The party takes place at Press lounge, where guests can kick back in a lush, outdoor environment. For those who like a stronger, straight-spirit sip, head to Sahara Las Vegas, where the property offers an exclusive—and extremely rare—whiskey from Rare Character Whiskey Co. The IRT-23/BG#38 barrel is a five-year, high-rye, straight bourbon aged in Tennessee and bottled in Kentucky. This special whiskey will never be released to the public, so here’s your chance to try it at the property’s Chickie’s &

For another unique sipping experience, the Sky Lounge at the High Roller at The Linq Promenade transforms the space into the Nitro Pepsi Experience. The lounge serves the first-ever nitrogen-infused cola by Pepsi (from the tap in draft cola and vanilla draft cola). The soda is smooth and creamy with tiny bubbles and a frothy foam head. And you can even order four new cocktails that use the Nitro Pepsi. For the ladies, head to Circa Resort & Casino for its first-ever Ladies Night Out Bar Crawl. Linguine and clams

One of the most iconic restaurants in Las Vegas has to be Piero’s Italian Cuisine. This classic Italian restaurant rests squarely in the echelon of the Golden Steer and the Peppermill, imparting a sense of old-school Vegas while maintaining high standards and a long clientele list consisting of the movers and shakers in Las Vegas, as well as celebrities, locals and convention-goers. Piero’s is family-owned, and father-and-son team Freddie and Evan Glusman are wellknown around the valley. There are plenty of charming elements that give your night a great start, and one is valet parking (it’s required, no self-parking

allowed). But it is also close enough to the Strip that you could park at properties like Resorts World Las Vegas and The Venetian and walk there. Piero’s has been in its current location on Convention Center Drive since 1982 and looks a lot like a small house. Inside, that small house can seat more than 300 guests in six dining rooms. One of the favorite places here is around the bustling bar, where classic cocktails, like a huge Gibson or an espresso martini, get the Piero’s touch. Order that cocktail “up” and you will definitely taste the spirits in the generous pour (cue that sigh of satisfaction) as you gaze at custom portraits adorning the walls. Piero’s has all the best Italian appetizers, from a creamy burrata, with heirloom tomatoes, balsamic vinegar and pesto, to Pat’s meatballs, served with whipped ricotta. If you prefer carpaccio or charcuterie, you can have those, too, and shrimp cocktail is always a fun way to go. There are pasta dishes aplenty, including linguine and middle neck clams in white wine and garlic; rigatoni in Sunday gravy

with meatballs, sausage and ricotta; and baked ziti with house-made Italian sausage. For a substantial entrée, if you are lucky, the osso buco will be on special, but you can get New York steak, filet mignon and

a massive veal chop anytime. Recently, a bone-in ribeye was on the specials menu, and if you find it, it’s a fine specimen of meat. Plus, salmon and sea bass give you lighter options.

Piero’s Italian Cuisine has earned its reputation the delicious way Veal chop Parmigiana

Eggplant Parmigiana is a favorite of mine, and the huge platter of baked, cheesy, tender slices with pomodoro and mozzarella leave you plenty to take out. (Thank goodness, or I might need to eat here every week!) And there’s a good range of sides, from baby portobellos to silky olive oil whipped potatoes. Dessert choices that are presented to you will certainly be tempting. Order a gelato or sorbet if you want to go lighter, but tiramisu and cannoli are two sure bets. And thank your lucky stars if you get the Paris Brest, cream-filled puff pastry—it’s perfect to end any night with.

NoMad Bar

Let’s Brunch, Baby!

April days are perfect to experience this hybrid meal Spring is brunch season in Las Vegas, the right time to explore some of the city’s brightest offerings for this weekend daytime dining celebration. In Vegas, brunch isn’t just breakfast with booze, and it’s more expansive than a selection of sweet and savory dishes working in tandem. It’s a well-rounded and robust experience no matter the location, but the following destinations

are the brunch spots the city is talking about right now. Along downtown’s energetic Fremont East stretch, Peyote (702.333.5568) at the beautifully renovated former Fergusons Motel has quickly become one of the most hip and eclectic restaurants around. New chef team Daniel Arias and Isidro Marquez-Castillo just unveiled a new

brunch menu served Saturday and Sunday featuring contemporary Latin American flavors with plenty of twists and turns. Check out their beer-battered shrimp tacos, toasted mollete bread topped with longaniza sausage and sliced avocado, traditional chilaquiles in a cheesy green sauce, and challah French toast with amaretto mascarpone cheese.

@lasvegasmagazine

For a different vibe, the elegant NoMad Bar (702.730.7000) at Park MGM just launched a brunch program complete with live music, decadent dishes and of course a spectacular selection of signature cocktails to complement the experience. Start with smoked salmon tartare with trout roe and everything crumble, a fun new take on a classic dish, then consider a hearty breakfast burrito stuffed with suckling pig or rich short rib hash with poached eggs and shallot marmalade. NoMad’s lobster Benedict is sure to become a Strip brunch icon. In Green Valley Ranch, Bottiglia Cucina & Enoteca (702.617.7191) dishes up a colorful array of everyone’s favorites, starting with acai granola bowls or orange caramel pecan sticky buns, and following through with blueberry lemon curd pancakes, king crab bucatini pasta and a toasty veggie panini. On the other side of the valley, sister restaurant Hearthstone Kitchen & Cellar (702.797.7344) at Red Rock Resort in Summerlin has a unique midday menu on the weekend, with standout dishes including buttermilk fried chicken and waffles with bourbon maple syrup, and a breakfast pizza with bacon, sausage and a poached egg. This pair of eateries knows how to satisfy their neighborhoods. With two locations in Mountain’s Edge and Henderson, El Luchador Mexican Kitchen (702.260.8709) is another locals’ favorite that just relaunched a special brunch menu, available Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. at both restaurants. Everyone is ordering the sopes Benedict with fresh, traditional masa cakes as the foundation for your choice of meat plus poached eggs and chipotle Hollandaise sauce, but the rotating chef’s special is worth looking into, creative fare like churro French toast or various breakfast tortas. Round things out back on the Strip with … a burger? Believe it. Bobby’s Burgers (702.946.4181), the fast-casual spot from celeb chef Bobby Flay, just opened its third Las Vegas Boulevard location at Paris Las Vegas, and it’s offering a breakfast menu from 7 to 11 a.m. That leaves plenty of time for brunching if you ask us, and with dishes like a New York-style bacon, egg and cheese sandwich, cinnamon maple oatmeal and a breakfast burrito in a whole wheat tortilla, these flavors are too big to be limited to the morning. Still, definitely get a burger, and don’t forget to crunchify it, Bobby-style, by adding potato chips. –Brock Radke

JOHN LEGEND will be flying high from the adrenaline of GRAMMY Awards weekend when his Love in Las Vegas residency at Planet Hollywood Resort commences. Legend, already in the pantheon of EGOT performing artists, released his last album, Bigger Love, in 2020, so he had no qualifying solo material to be considered this year. Instead, he picked up an Academy Global Impact Award from the Recording Academy’s Black Music Collective the night before performing at MGM Grand Garden Arena during the 2022 Awards ceremony. For someone who counts at least one Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony in his collection, Legend seems to take his status and fame in stride. He’s a firm believer in the fusion of spirituality and music, and an ardent endorser of practicing mindfulness. It’s his ability to stay in the moment that’s made his career climb seem so effortless.

Work does not seem like work when it is a passion, however, and Legend’s passion is for piano. He was born John Roger Stephens in Springfield, Ohio, to music-loving parents. “My mother was the church choir director,” he said during a March 21-26 stint as guest host of the Radio Headspace podcast. “My father sang in the choir and played the drums, so I grew up in the church and I grew up around a lot of music.” An upright piano was the centerpiece of the Stephens’ living room, and Legend begged his mother to let him take lessons. “I had this drive. I wanted to be good at this thing that I loved. I

wanted to play music for other people. I grew up in the church and watched other musicians playing in front of the audience and I wanted to be one of those people who could move people with their music.” Legend did wind up performing in church and practiced his lessons diligently. He skipped two grades in school, got an English degree and entered a professional career in management consulting before making serious moves in music. His piano playing can be heard on “Everything Is Everything” from Lauryn Hill’s 1998 debut The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill, and he contributed backing

vocals to tracks by Jay-Z and Alicia Keys before Kanye West discovered him and produced his 2004 debut album, Get Lifted. That album contained his first huge hit, “Ordinary People,” which earned Legend Best Male R&B Vocal Performance honors at the 2006 GRAMMY Awards. Get Lifted won for Best R&B Album that year and Legend was named Best New Artist. He’d win nine more GRAMMYs in the ensuing years, most recently in 2021 for Bigger Love. Legend earned a Best Original Song Oscar in 2015 for “Glory” from the film Selma, a Tony in 2017 for co-producing a revival of August Wilson’s Jitney and an Emmy in 2018 for playing the title role in Jesus Christ Superstar Live in Concert. And while Legend probably won’t literally walk on water in Zappos Theater during Love In Las Vegas, fans expecting to be moved by his music will not be disappointed.

Las Vegas has long been known as the Wedding Capital of the World, and this year a milestone was hit: Clark County, which includes the city of Las Vegas, issued its 5 millionth marriage license since it was founded in 1909. “Couples who married in Las Vegas are part of our history,” said Clark County Clerk Lynn Marie Goya. “It is their legacy that turned us into the Wedding Capital of the World.” Odds are you’ve heard of some of the city’s most famous wedding locales, including the Little Church of the West, Royal Wedding Chapel and, of course, A Little White Wedding Chapel. And, yes, those are all perfect venues to tie the knot, but in the spirit of romance and adventure, Las Vegas Magazine has compiled some other ways you can say, “I do.” Because your wedding is one of the most important events of your life; don’t you want it to be memorable? If you and your betrothed are adrenaline junkies, get married at 67 mph on the Big Apple Coaster at New York-New York. You can even bring your wedding party with you, as each train

Atomic Saloon Show

holds up to 18 passengers. There are two time frames available: 30 minutes prior to opening and 30 minutes after closing. You can even bring your own photographer along (or one can be provided for an extra fee). For wedding photos that are sure to be talked about for years to come, it doesn’t get much better—or sneakier—

than Madame Tussauds Las Vegas, the wax museum at The Venetian, where you can get married not only in front of a façade of A Little White Chapel, but in front of “witnesses” like George Clooney and Beyoncé. And in keeping with the venue’s theme, every couple receives a set of souvenir wax hands. Fans of the amazing shows on the Las Vegas Strip? How’d you like to be married at one of them? Now you can! Start your special evening by getting the VIP treatment at Atomic Saloon Show at The Venetian, complete with expedited entry and champagne bottle service during the wildly entertaining show. After the show, your ceremony will be officiated on the stage by one a fully ordained cast member! As romantic as a helicopter tour over the Las Vegas Strip is, now you can add nuptials to the experience. Maverick Helicopters offers a wide variety of wedding packages, from the “Painted Dreams Sunset” ceremony while flying over the Strip at sunset to “Painted Dreams Valley of Fire,” where you land on a vista overlooking a magnificent desert view while taking your vows. Big fans of the Grand Slam? Have a grand wedding at downtown’s Denny’s, which not only offers wedding ceremonies year-round, but also offers you the opportunity to live-stream your special day on Denny’s YouTube channel.

Deadly Games adds an element of danger to ‘America’s Got Talent Las Vegas Live’

Courtesy 34 7.5.21 photo

In just a few short months, America’s Got Talent Las Vegas Live at Luxor has established itself as one of the most excitingly diverse productions on the Las Vegas Strip, densely packed with comedy, music, dance, acrobatics, mentalism and more. The intense dose of danger in the show comes from Alfredo Silva and Aleksandra Kiedrowicz, better known as Deadly Games. This act originally wowed TV audiences during AGT’s 11th season and has returned on a regular basis, and once you witness the duo’s unbelievable knife-throwing feats, you’ll understand how important they are to this live show.

Alfredo: I think it’s a dream for most, if not all, performers to have a spot in a Vegas show. This is the city of shows, but to be

here in such a high-level show where everybody is just amazing and unique, we had to take this opportunity right away, and we are honored they invited us to be part of it. And the audience reaction has been really good; they love what we do.

Alfredo: It’s true, and that’s what they wanted with this lineup and reaching for all those different elements. Deadly Games is there to punch you in the face.

Alfredo: I was born and raised in the business and, from a young age, I knew I would be a performer, but I didn’t know what kind of expertise I would develop. Growing up, I was a juggler, a clown, I did trapeze and different things, but when I would watch my father and grandfather perform crazy stunts, the louder the applause and the better the

reaction. I knew I wanted to be one of those guys getting that applause, so I started riding motorcycles in the cage of death when I was 9 and throwing knives when I was 12.

Aleksandra: I was trained in jazz, modern and ballet, and that turned out to be very helpful when I started my journey in aerial performance because I could incorporate those styles into my performance. My act started very feminine and sensual, but I had to gain a lot of strength to do aerials. Then I met Alfredo and we combined our skills into one act to make something completely new. It was also a transition from being this delicate flying woman into this sexy, powerful partner, completely different for me.

Aleksandra: For me, it was not that difficult. I knew him already but it was more about starting with very simple tricks to get used to the (experience), like the noise and, also, you can feel the wind when the knives fly toward you. But you get used to that. Slowly, step by step, you introduce more elements, and he also has to trust me to move in the right moment and create space for him to throw.

spring. The natural light, dramatically different in late-March than during the winter, provides perfect illumination for a theme of elevation. Flights of Fancy, on display through May 14, takes advantage

of the contrast with hot air balloons and winged creatures, fresh and fabricated floral arrangements, and mood-lifting pastels. Purples, pinks, yellows and blues dominate the flowerbed palette

while distinct scents are detectable beyond the boundaries of the venue. “We have a lavender-wood scent going on right now,” says director of horticulture Jessica Walker. “A little bit of lavender, a little bit of cedar undertone. And there’s so many spring flowers like the hyacinth and freesia, a lot of things that are aromatic.” Designer Ed Libby collaborated with the Bellagio horticulture and engineering teams to assemble the most diverse array of photosynthetic organisms and beautifying blossoms ever collected for a Conservatory display. The 34-foot-tall pink-and-green balloon in the “Floating on Air” East Bed, adorned with an elegant Bellagio “B,” consists of 15,000 preserved roses. An airship that Jules Verne might have imagined is surrounded by clouds made of baby’s breath and white hydrangeas in the “Up, Up and Away” West Bed. Hyacinths and forget-me-nots vie with tulips, silvery dusty millers and angel wings for attention. Size helps certain features stand out. “The New Nouveau” North Bed features large-scale yellow roses, 16-foot-tall handmade glass daffodil installations and a 26-foot-tall Persian silk tree.

Photos courtesy of MGM Resorts International

Oversized butterflies are frozen in flight. Huge hummingbirds perch on hibiscus and pansy petals. A 10-foot-tall peacock proudly rides a peacock-patterned balloon in the South Bed. More than 8,700 potted plants were installed during 8,000 hours of work by a team of some 80 artists, artisans, engineers and

horticulturists. There is little room for error in the installation of the intricately designed details of Flights of Fancy. A bridge with clouds moving beneath establishes the sense of wonder and a “welcome moment” in the East Bed. A yellow frog spits a stream of water into a pond alive with koi fish in the North Bed. Moss-covered mountains were moved to create the West Bed’s waterfall scene. “Throughout the beds, there’s a lot of different little pines,” says Walker, citing mugo pines springing from the mountains and an alpine bed featured in “Up, Up and Away.” “Our steampunk balloon is made of vintage materials that they salvaged. That’s the biggest. Right behind that is our little rose ‘princess balloon,’ with the silver tiara.” There’s also a sandcastle balloon and one inspired by the Bellagio Fountains. If a chocolate river flowed through the Conservatory, visitors might be tempted to taste some of the oversized elements to see if they were made of candy. Instagrammable moments abound, with color palettes and design features offering a spectrum of options. “There’s a bed for everybody,” says Walker.

From retail to nightlife, Linq Promenade features a dynamic mix From its initial debut on the Strip more than six years ago, the Linq Promenade has promised to become a different kind of versatile entertainment experience in Las Vegas. Now that it has evolved and made good on that promise several times over, the pedestrian thoroughfare between the Flamingo and Linq casino resorts has been acknowledged as one of the most energetic attractions anywhere in the city. The fun starts with two signature experiences: the iconic High Roller observation wheel (702.777.2782), offering half-hour rides 550 feet in the air and unparalleled views of the Vegas valley; and the adrenaline rush of the FLY LINQ Zipline (702.777.2782), launching riders from a 12-story tower soaring a distance of 1,121 feet to the east end of the promenade. These dual only-in-Vegas activities are among the most exciting ways to spend a day on the Strip, not to mention excellent methods for getting to know the offerings of the promenade itself. After you’ve worked up an appetite, discover a full spectrum of dining experiences lying in wait. For fast, casual and absolutely delicious eats, sample the crispy fried delights at Gordon Ramsay

Icebar

Fish & Chips (702.322.0529)—and don’t forget the curry mango dipping sauce—or all-American masterpieces with toppings like smoked bacon, mac and cheese and grilled mushrooms at Haute Doggery (702.430.4435). Sit down and share a pizza pie on the patio or just grab a quick slice from the window at Flour & Barley (702.430.4430), or satisfy your California drive-thru cravings at the legendary In-NOut Burger (800.786.1000). Keep the party going at one of several Linq Promenade bars offering outdoor service perfect for sipping while you stroll, including the colorful Breeze Daiquiri Bar (702.818.3007) or the alfresco addition to

O’Sheas (702.835.5723) inside the Linq Hotel, the Blarney Bar, where you can experience the frozen Irish Margarita. One thing you may not expect: The promenade has become quite the go-to for sports viewing, so whether you’re into football, basketball or hockey these days, you can take your pick from the Tilted Kilt (702.826.2100), the lively beer bar AmeriCAN (702.331.5600), familiar crowd pleaser Yard House (702.597.0434), or some of the other unique restaurants that offer patio seating in addition to plenty of sports-suitable screens. Those include Chayo Mexican Kitchen (702.691.3773), the down-home and hearty Virgil’s Real Barbecue (702.389.7400) and the local product Off the Strip (702.331.6800). Rounding out the Linq’s diverse selection are one of the newest locations of the super-cool Icebar (702.586.8925), where glasses, walls, seats and sculptures are all carved out of ice; the new Razer store (725.214.7222), where one of the leading brands for gamers offers hardware, software and other services; and plenty of sweet stops like the 14,000-square-foot candy shop I Love Sugar (702.330.9124) and the shortbread specialists at the Honolulu Cookie Company (702.489.6111). It’s not easy to provide something for everyone, but the Linq Promenade has offered lots of fun for Vegas visitors from day one, and it’s only amped up over time.

An Unforgettable Meal Odds are many of you have checked out Circa Resort & Casino by now, Derek Stevens’ latest project in Las Vegas. If you have, you know that he’s all about the complete experience, including great food. And it all started with Andiamo Steakhouse (702.388.2220), Stevens’ world-class restaurant at his first property in Sin City, The D.

Courtesy photo

You really feel like you’ve stepped back in time once you walk through Andiamo’s doors. This is a classic steakhouse in every sense, from the servers who prepare Caesar salads tableside (a highlight we really recommend) to the classic cocktails on the menu. There’s so much to enjoy here, especially for steak fans. Couples will want to consider

the 32-ounce tomahawk, a ribeye that will turn every head in the place. Whatever you decide on, you get your choice of Bearnaise sauce or the restaurant’s signature “Zip” sauce. We recommend the latter, as there’s simply nothing else like it in town. There’s also the signature Andiamo Grande Meatball, topped with ricotta. –Ken Miller
