TV Fans, Rejoice

I’m not ashamed to admit it: I’m a child of television. From the late-’60s on, I grew up watching the tube incessantly, from Sesame Street to All in the Family to St. Elsewhere to ER to Breaking Bad .... you get the idea. It’s informed me in a way no other media has; it’s helped shape my tastes, my way of thinking, even my general lifestyle.

And as the editor of Las Vegas Magazine, television has come in handy in a huge way. I’ve been a huge fan of America’s Got Talent practically from the beginning. The notion that any ordinary person can suddenly rise to fame (and get their own headlining gig on the Las Vegas Strip) was, and continues to be, a major point of fascination with me. And it’s been a personal thrill to see so many of my favorite acts over the years get their own shows here—Mat Franco, Pi the Magic Dragon, Tape Face and many more. No doubt many of you are also AGT fans and may have asked yourself, “Why is (my personal favorite act) not performing on the Strip?” That question has been answered, thanks to the addition of America’s Got Talent Presents SUPERSTARS Live at Luxor (“Skills That Thrill,” p. 38), an ever-changing collection of some of the show’s best acts over the years. I’ve been several times already, and it’s never the same show twice. In other words, it’s an AGT fan’s dream come true.

Speaking of television, David Blaine, the entertainer known for numerous specials over the decades (from magic to stunts of endurance), is enjoying a residency at Resorts World Las Vegas (“Practice, Practice, Practice,” p. 34). And yes, this is a show his television fans will appreciate.

Las Vegas’ entertainment landscape is always changing and evolving, and television has become a larger part of that than ever before. And for people like me, that’s excellent news.

A Life of Hits

Hard work and talent earn iconic singer widespread respect

Look no further than this year’s edition of venerable record executive Clive Davis’s pre-Grammy party for proof of the enduring appeal of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons. Valli, who brings the current lineup of the Four Seasons to Las Vegas for two dates this week, brought the audience of A-list celebrities to its feet with “Can’t Take My Eyes Off of You” as Demi Lovato captured Olivia Rodrigo’s uninhibited joyful reaction for posterity on Instagram.

Valli was in good voice, and recent jazz recordings demonstrate his ability to deliver in the upper reaches of his vocal range. At 88, he tours with the energy of an entertainer half his age and sees interest in his music surge time and again in pop culture. Last year marked the 60th anniversary of “Sherry,” the No. 1 record that introduced his soaring falsetto to the Top 40, and it’s been nearly two decades since Jersey Boys brought the Four Seasons’ story to Broadway.

Francesco Stephen Castelluccio began his evolution into Frankie Valli at Broadway and 43rd Street, where his mother took the 7-year-old to see Frank Sinatra at the Paramount Theatre in Times Square. Nat King Cole, Bing Crosby, Billie Holiday and Sarah Vaughan were formative influences, but it was a fateful meeting with musician Bob Gaudio that led to the classic lineup of the Four Seasons and a string of hits including “Walk Like a Man,” “Big Girls Don’t Cry” and “Dawn.”

Valli sings just about every Four Seasons song in his sets that a fan could request, plus solo singles and ’70s material such as “My Eyes Adored You,” “Swearin’ to God” and “December, 1963 (Oh What a Night).” Maneskin fans might be familiar with “Beggin’” as the Italian rock group, who opened the pre-Grammy party, covered the song in 2017. Elvis Costello, Jennifer Hudson, Lizzo, Lil Wayne and Sheryl Crow went on to perform that night, but it was Valli who would go viral. –Matt Kelemen

Inspired Elegance

Parisian-themed bar offers stylish creativity

One of the prettiest places to dine in Las Vegas has to be Vanderpump á Paris. The brainchild of Lisa Vanderpump, husband Ken Todd, daughter Pandora Todd and designer Nick Alain, the space is a French-inspired bistro with wild, extravagant touches.

“Opening Vanderpump á Paris has been a labor of love,” said Vanderpump. “After living in France for so long, I am so happy to bring something to Paris Las Vegas that feels so decadent and authentic. We’ve been able to bring Paris to life within an iconic Vegas resort, and you’ll immediately feel transported to the sexiest bar in France.”

One of the draws of Vanderpump’s restaurants in California and at Caesars Palace are the cocktails. Here, a wide variety issues forth from a long, marble-topped bar, on which stylized lamps resembling ornate umbrellas rest. Order the signature Louvre At First Sight, and a hickory smoke-filled glass pyramid will be opened to reveal a colorful drink with mezcal, prickly pear, lemon, jalapeño honey and orange bitters.

For appetizers, Les Cages Aux Folles brings an artfully arranged birdcage full of cheese or charcuterie to your table, with goodies like Camembert and Truffle Tremor, perfect for spreading on toast. The stuffed Vanderpump baguettes are artful little baguettes with brie, truffles and truffle honey. The Ménage a Tomates presents sliced heirloom tomatoes, cherry tomatoes and fried green tomatoes with whipped goat cheese.

Larger appetites will appreciate crispy chicken confit, butter prawns and coq au vin pot pie. The Cast Iron Filet is delivered with a cognac pink peppercorn reduction and roasted pearl onions. Vegans (and everyone else) will love the Cast Iron Ratatouille, with slices of market vegetables like eggplant and squash covered in a tomato ragout.

For dessert, the daring may want to indulge in a dessert cocktail or order a more substantial sweet like the Grande selection, three sweet dishes on a marble tray—try Le Grand Puff, a croquembouche mountain with caramel and crème anglaise; rose eclairs; and the mousse au chocolat bites. –Nina King

It All Adds Up

Speakeasy inside Flamingo steakhouse offers an old-school experience

If you like the old-school Las Vegas vibes of Bugsy & Meyer’s Steakhouse at Flamingo, you’re gonna love the secret that’s hiding inside the restaurant: The Count Room

The intimate speakeasy is a great place to hang out before your dinner reservation; or make it a late date night with small bites and delicious cocktails. “The cocktail menu is a mixture of classic recipes and (modern) mixology,” says general manager Tyler Olson. If you like the classic Hemingway daiquiri, you’ll want to try the Beverly Hills martini (pictured), a mix of Ketel One Botanical vodka, grapefruit, lime and Luxardo maraschino cherries. If you’re into OldFashioneds, try The Count Room’s spin on the classic with the Japanese Old-Fashioned, a mix of Nikka Coffey grain whiskey, simple syrup, Angostura bitters and orange bitters. “It’s much lighter than the classic,” Olson says. “It’s very smooth, and on the finish you get a nice sense of orange. It’s kind of like a multisensory cocktail—you get the taste and smell of the orange.”

Along with getting a tasty education in modern mixology from the bartenders, guests can dig into a small-plates menu with decadent delights like wagyu short rib sliders, lobster rolls and oysters Rockefeller.

The swanky surroundings—plenty of cozy, romantic nooks and a social scene at the bar—set the mood for a throwback experience. Live jazz music on Fridays and Saturdays seals the deal. –Kiko

Idyllic Italian

Bellagio restaurant reimagines an already spectacular experience

As long as the Bellagio fountains exist on the Las Vegas Strip, there will be diners clamoring to get a table at one of the few restaurants that offer perfect views of the spectacular attraction. One of the best of these—and a great restaurant, period—is the Italian restaurant

Michelin-starred Serrano’s tireless efforts to perfect the dining experience (some would say he’s already succeeded) have resulted in some truly great menu tweaks over the years, and lucky for those of you in town this week: He’s doing it again, refreshing the experience to reimagine dinner, lunch or brunch. Even those of you who have been here several times will want to check it out.

Start with an entirely new cocktail menu, courtesy of Julian Cox, MGM Resorts International’s executive director of beverage. Old-Fashioned fans will love the Sfumato, a spin on the classic with gomme syrup and Heaven’s Door bourbon, while the Lago Coastal Tonic is an ideal starter, made with Piùcinque gin, Chareau, Fiorente elderflower liqueur and elderflower tonic.

From appetizers to starters, there are so many sensational new selections here, from bruschetta made with pan de cristal and topped with tomatoes and basil to lemon tagliolini, thin ribbon noodles in a sauce of butter, Parmesan and lemon. Don’t skip the osso buco, braised veal shank paired with saffron risotto.

The brunch menu, available on the weekends, offers banana pancakes (in which caramelized bananas are cooked into pancakes and topped with Nutella and ricotta), salmon crostini (a toasted baguette topped with ricotta, smoked salmon and a quail egg), and the Lago frittata (this particular egg-based classic is made with broccoli, sweet peppers and spinach and topped with pecorino).

Dessert gets a serious upgrade with the new espresso martini flight, four specialty cocktails that are flavored with chocolate, vanilla, cheesecake and hazelnut. Or you can go a more traditional route with olive oil cake, cooked with roasted grapes and topped with in-house rosemary gelato, or get the sorbetto and gelato paired with pizzelle (waffle cookies). –Ken

Beach Scene

Singer creates a mood with his popular tunes

Long before there were metaverses, there was the Buffettverse. It’s inhabited by a people known as Parrotheads who waste away in its virtual capital, Margaritaville, until Jimmy Buffett makes one of his regular visits to a concert venue near them in real life.

Buffett, who steps onstage for the second of two Saturday night concerts this weekend at the MGM Grand Garden Arena, is their pirate king. That would make his comrades in the Coral Reefer Band his motley crew of trusty shipmates.

That band is more of an ensemble, with guitarist Mac McAnally and longtime keyboardist Michael Utley perhaps the best-known musicians on board. Steel drum player Robert Greenidge, now in his 40th year as a Coral Reefer, adds the unmistakable island element to songs such as “Come Monday,” “Volcano” and Margaritaville” that have been part of the core of Buffett’s setlists since the ’80s.

Buffett has been mixing things up lately though, kicking off the last in a series of February Key West gigs with

“Why Don’t We Get Drunk” before playing a set full of deep cuts such as “Trying to Reason with Hurricane Season” and “Cuban Crime of Passion.” He’s also been performing a cover of the Allman Brothers’ “Little Martha” as of late.

There may be a few songs that the flock doesn’t know by heart, but by the end of the evening, they probably will.

Wordless Wonder

This performer doesn’t need to use dialogue to make you laugh

I had never been to see Tape Face; indeed, I had never seen him appear on America’s Got Talent. However, I have been regaled with story after story about the onstage antics at his shows. And after seeing him live, I can confirm they are all true!

Breaking the ice before the main show is a funny balloon act, putting the audience in the perfect frame of mind for the fun to come. Although Tape Face doesn’t speak during the show (letting his eyes do the talking), his helpers occasionally do, shepherding volunteers onstage. And yes, there is a ton of volunteer action, so don’t be surprised if you are chosen to help out.

In one act, Tape Face sets up his guest, positioning balloons strategically between both his and the volunteer’s legs and arming each with a stapler— then the classic Western duel notes issue through a loudspeaker. You can guess what happens next! Star Wars gets an homage as well, with tape measures standing in for light sabers. A golf-inspired bit will have you cringing and cheering at the same time. And, somehow apropos for Vegas, a stripper (of sorts) will be spotted onstage.

If you are chosen as a volunteer, get up there! It’s maybe the quickest way to gain access to the imagination we all had as children. –Nina King

The speakeasy’s low, red lighting gives off mysterious, cool vibes. With its capacity for only about 50 people, there are just a few sofas for lounging, a handful of seats at the bar and a couple of high-top tables, making this place more suited for dates or smaller groups. The décor echoes a decadent hole-in-thewall vintage opium den one might

stumble across in the night markets of Beijing, and, through March, the Chinese New Year decorations add to the effect.

At Here Kitty Kitty Vice Den, the room helps set the scene—a special cocktail experience that celebrates unique tastes and presentations. “People come here for the experience, not really to get hammered,” says bartender Habtu G. Abeje.

Bartenders at HKKVD are masters when it comes to creating cocktails, with the Bartender’s Choice cocktail being one of the most popular selections. “Name the type of spirit you want and then I’ll ask questions to find out about your palate,” Abeje says. “What do you like, even what types of food or movies or scents? and based on that we’ll make you a cocktail.”

During the photo shoot, Abeje made me my own cocktail, based on my likes of vodka, creamy drinks, more salty foods and nothing overly sweet. The literally glowing result was a blend of vodka, fresh lemon, ginger, housemade chrysanthemum

syrup, melon liqueur and egg whites. It was delicious.

For another cool presentation, try the Doctor’s Order, served with a mock medicine bottle that holds your cocktail, a blend of gin, lime, housemade ginger syrup and Monin lemongrass liqueur. If a taste adventure is what you’re after, try the Kamakura, a blend of Rémy Martin 1738 cognac, Iichiko Saiten shochu, MSG and miso shrub—this cocktail tastes like miso soup. Or go for a sweet sensation with hints of breakfast with the Pancakes & Dopamine, a blend of Bacardi Anejo Cuatro rum, banana, lime, golden brown sugar and cinnamon.

And in honor of the Chinese New Year, HKKVD is offering a secret pop-up menu through March, sponsored by liquor brand Hennessey. Try the Imperial Guard, where the bartenders have infused Hennessey with black tea and then blend the spirit with a splash of Cava champagne.

Friends With Benefits

Shawn Norris

If you want to see what passion for a career looks like, just look to Shawn Norris, the general manager of Vic & Anthony’s Steakhouse at Golden Nugget. This man lives and breathes the restaurant industry.

“There’s something about getting together with family and breaking bread and sharing a meal together,” he says. “That’s where the passion comes for me—everyone in this restaurant is my family, and I want to make sure everyone is treated with respect, and I’m going to take care of them.”

Norris has a long history in the industry, beginning in Seattle, where he grew up, bringing his experience to Las Vegas in 2003. He continued to sharpen his skills by managing restaurants on and off the Strip; he also got his sommelier certification. In 2010, he joined Vic & Anthony’s as the beverage manager and went on to curate the wine list. In 2012, he took over as the general manager of the restaurant (by 2015, he had earned the GM of the year award—from Landry’s, the parent company of Vic’s— beating out 600 other locations).

Besides his passion for running a restaurant, Norris is an ardent cooking fan. He loves to get in the kitchens he manages and loves workshopping with the chefs. Norris loves cooking so much, he landed a role on the seventh season of Gordon Ramsay’s MasterChef. “It was quite the experience,” he says.

So, you see, every aspect of Norris’ life involves the industry. It’s a passion for a career he’s extremely proud of, he says, and one that any guest of Vic & Anthony’s can feel immediately upon meeting him. –Kiko

Be transported to Spain at José Andrés’ Jaleo

So you’re in Las Vegas for a week or so. Feel like taking a little side trip? Maybe to … Spain? You can do just that at Jaleo in The Cosmopolitan, where José Andrés’ Jaleo serves up everything from tapas to paella, all created with a mind to delivering an authentic food experience.

Justin DePhillips, Jaleo’s head chef in Las Vegas, explains, “One of the pillars that this company stands on, and that inspires me, personally ... is authenticity. What is different about working for José, and a José restaurant, is we’re not doing some kind of Americanized, watered-down version of Spain. We’re bringing them Spain. We’re basically saving them the cost of a plane ticket.”

That authenticity is evident in the dishes on Jaleo’s menu, an amazing array that ranges from small bites to the signature paellas. Some of the most delicious are some of the simplest, like quesos, cheese

boards you can get in two sizes with three or five cheeses. Each is accompanied by items that complement and enhance the flavors you’ll experience, such as the Rey Silo Blanco and the Rey Silo Rojo from the Asturias region in northwest Spain, served with pine nut cookies and orange marmalade. Or perhaps you might want the pan de cristal con tomate, a simple app of crispy, toasted Barcelona bread with fresh crushed tomatoes.

Other items include the signature cones, one-bite wonders with fillings like salmon, tuna tartare, fire-roasted vegetables and sobrasada Ibérico (a Spanish sausage) and toppings like trout roe and whipped avocado. And Jose’s tacos are bits of acorn-fed Ibérico ham topped with Royal Osetra caviar—trying this ham will undoubtedly be a highlight of your meal.

Endibias, endive leaves filled with goat cheese, almond slices, orange and a roast-

ed garlic dressing, gives you a bright little burst of flavor, while patatas bravas are piled on a spicy tomato sauce and topped with a sublime aioli—you’ll order these two dishes every time you dine. Another, unexpectedly excellent dish is the berenjenas fritas a la Malagueña, thin rounds of lightly fried eggplant drizzled with local honey and lemon.

It’s not all tiny tapas here, though; you’ll find larger plates, too (a few are even denoted on the menu with the section header “José Makes Large Plates Too.” Here at Jaleo, those come in the form of lubina a la Donostiarra, a grilled Spanish sea bass with Basque-style dressing, and the Gambas a la Zahara, a plate of head-on shrimp in olive oil and garlic that will feed you and tease everyone else at the table.

You’ll also find paella, the Spanish rice dish that is a cornerstone of the Jaleo menu—and something that really embodies the special environment at Jaleo. The huge fire and oven that you see as you walk into the restaurant isn’t just for show. “One of the things, for me, that sets us apart from what I see being done in other Spanish restaurants is the fact that we cook paella over a fire, a real fire. It

makes a difference, in both the technique and also in the finished product. I mean, you can’t mimic wood smoke in a dish. It’s such a flavor profile,” said chef DePhillips. It’s a process that takes a fair bit of experience to master. “Eighty percent of the time you are cooking a paella, you’re not allowed to touch it, right? So once you add that rice in, the first five minutes

you can move the rice around, and then you’ve got to stand back and watch and pray for 12 minutes,” said DePhillips. “But what you are doing in that time is not a hands-off time. You have to be under the pan, babysitting the fire, making sure everything is nice and even, there are no hot spots, no cold spots, the burn time of the wood is matching the cook time of

the paella … it’s a really engaging way of cooking that uses all your senses.”

Once the paella is done, the cook rings the bell, and a huge pan (about two feet across or so) is paraded around the dining area and shown to guests, then plated up. Paella varieties change nightly, but a recent addition to the menu, individual paellas, are available in varieties like seasonal vegetable and mushrooms (arroz de verduras de temporada), and oxtail and vegetables. Each serves two to three.

Another recent menu addition is the xuixo—this dessert is a little like a cross between a croissant and a churro, but here is constructed with brioche-style pastry, rolled up. A Catalan cream is put into the center before the xuixo is deep-fried, and the cooking process encourages the citrusy notes of the cream to imbue the pastry with a lovely flavor, and as you break it open, a magnificent, delicate fragrance will rise. Add a refreshing after-dinner cocktail like the Carajillo, shaken with Licor 43 and espresso, and you’ll think life is pretty sweet, letting you enjoy a trip to Vegas and a trip to Spain all in one night.

David Blaine pushes through pain in Resorts World residency ‘In Spades’

Count on several things happening during David Blaine: In Spades: Blaine will float above the audience; Blaine will demonstrate his ability to hold his breath for a long time; Blaine will perform card tricks easy to see from every seat in the house; and he will put himself at risk to an extreme magicians and illusionists dare not approach.

He also likes being a resident headliner in Vegas, returning to the intimate setting of Resort World Theatre every month through June. Seats have been filled by the likes of Dr. Dre and Eminem, director Darren Aronofsky and DJ Martin Garrix, Sasha and Malia Obama, and Woody

Harrelson and Marion Cotillard. Danny DeVito and his son Jake joined the ranks of audience participants at a Jan. 14 performance. It was around then that Blaine had a slight accident and slammed

like he used to do as a street magic practitioner in the late-’90s.

Then, the main danger was walking into an unfamiliar neighborhood, but Blaine was inspired by feats of human endurance that made Harry Houdini an escape master. As a child, Blaine trained himself to hold his breath. As an adult, he put that ability to use by publicly testing the limits of how long the human body could remain submerged in water or encased in ice.

What makes Blaine a lure is a factor outlined by Tom Hanks as Colonel Tom Parker in Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis

The act that gets the most money gives the audience “feelings they

weren’t sure they should enjoy, but they do.” Jimmy Fallon is not sure he should enjoy Blaine chewing up nails and snorting one out a nostril or spitting out a live frog during appearances on The Tonight Show, but he does.

Blaine also has a laconic speaking delivery that can suddenly shift into a macabre mode, which some Resorts World guests experience when he roams the property performing magic. His expertise results from practice, which he’s been doing nonstop since his mother gave him his first deck of cards as a small child. “It’s not that

I’m good at what I do necessarily by default,” he said during an appearance at the 2019 World Economic Forum. “It’s that I’ve spent a lot of time practicing.”

axs.com

It was a 2009 TED Talk where Blaine best expressed his secret of his success, though. “As a magician, I try to show things to people that seem impossible,” he told the audience. “And I think magic, whether I’m holding my breath or shuffling a deck of cards, is pretty simple … It’s practice and training and experimenting while pushing through the pain to be the best I can be.”

Michael Bolton brings decades of hits to Las Vegas

Few recording artists have a career that can compare to the timeless qualities and many hit songs that Michael Bolton has in his repertoire. The 69-year-old singer and songwriter, who originally broke into the industry in the 1980s as a hard rocker and morphed into an adult contemporary phenomenon, has never really slowed down—partially because his fans are constantly craving that familiar voice in live performance and in new recordings. Bolton hasn’t played Vegas for a while, but he’s correcting that this week with a March 9 date at the Pearl at Palms, and he can’t wait to connect to fans here once again.

You recently returned to South Korea to perform for the first time in almost a decade. What was that experience like?

Well, the flight is the most brutal part of it, but the fans were great, lively and

loud. We played two arenas with about 11,000 people in each one, and that really gives you a bunch of bounce, until your body realizes you’re done. South Korea is one of the markets around the world that has always been very supportive of me. Every record has been top 10 in sales, and I’ve been doing live concerts in arenas there for many years, and I’m very mindful of that and try to make sure they understand I’m thinking of them. It’s a bit surreal and deeply appreciated, to have such support from fans right in front of you.

It’s certainly a different experience from performing at the intimate Pearl, but hopefully you’re just as excited about this concert.

I definitely enjoy Las Vegas, for all kinds of reasons—the amount of concerts that come through, the stateof-the-art venues where everything is up to date, and also (fans) have access to different genres of artists. After all these years, it really comes down to the songs and keeping in touch with what fans want. They consistently want the greatest hits. They do want to hear what you’re working on, but there’s a

different tone when you start to play something like “When a Man Loves a Woman.” The audience responds, and you can feel it.

Are you working on new music now?

I am. I’m genuinely excited about the new album. We’ve been spending a little over two years on the next album of original material, and even though they sincerely respond to new music and may love it, it’s still just another level of enjoyment when it’s a song that’s in their core, music they’ve been listening to for years that they’ve been making their lives to, your music as the backdrop. You start one of those songs and it reaches them in a specific place and translates to that love experience between artist and audience, and it’s a relationship that keeps us coming back.

Have you ever been invited to Las Vegas for some sort of residency run, and would you consider that?

That has been discussed and I would entertain the right concept. It’s something that keeps coming up in conversations. I remember when Celine

(Dion’s) building (the Colosseum) was done, I went to the show and saw her backstage—and Celine was my opening act in 1991, when the world hadn’t really seen her or heard her, “Power of Love” was just taking off. It was great to watch her career lift off when I had already spent 20 years building mine.

You are known for performing so many huge hits, but you’ve written many songs for other artists as well. Which tracks are you most proud of?

“I Said I Loved You…But I Lied,” which I wrote with Mutt Lange. He’s one of my favorite producers to watch because of what he brought to the artists. That was an unexpected combination of chords and sounds, and that’s part of Mutt’s magic he brings.

I think there are a bunch of songs that for different reasons are the highlights of my life and career, and when I’m writing or producing and it’s something I feel strongly about, it can be just as emotional and just as powerful as reaching into a standard like “When a Man Loves a Woman.”

For those who haven’t yet been to America’s Got Talent Presents SUPERSTARS Live in Las Vegas, here’s all you need to know: The America’s Got Talent: AllStars edition, which recently wrapped its nine-week run on NBC, features most, if not all, of the acts you will see on any given week on the Luxor stage. ‘America’s
Got Talent’ acts at Luxor extravaganza
By Ken Miller

The only thing that’s missing are judges Simon Cowell, Heidi Klum and Howie Mandel (although they introduce the show in video segments) and host Terry Crews—here your hosts are a rotating lineup of comedians who competed on AGT through the years, including Preacher Lawson, Mike E. Winfield and Vicki Barbolak. Current host Jordan Conley capably fills in until May 21.

Just like watching any episode of AGT, you never really know who you’re going to see on any given night. But hopefully you catch the lineup I did at a recent performance; it really had everything you’re looking for in a Las Vegas variety show:

• Laughs, provided in ample doses by The Human Fountains, an act so polarizing that Simon Cowell actually gave them a red “X” during All-Stars

But if you’re a fan of gross-out comedy, you’ll be laughing until it hurts, especially when a volunteer is brought onstage to join in the antics. The hysterics keep coming when ventriloquist Celia Munoz begins performing without the use of a dummy. You might even gasp a bit as this world-class talent carries on a two-

way phone conversation and sings while imbibing and eating.

• Excitement, supplied by aerialist Aidan Bryant (he won his round in AllStars and nearly won in season 16), who spins high above the stage without a net, and married couple Alfredo and Anna Silva, better known as Deadly Games, who have honed the danger act to a knife-

sharp edge. They’re also both extremely easy on the eyes, which you might be shutting quite a bit during their act.

• Drama from The Silhouettes, a troupe that performs behind a white backdrop, contorting their bodies to make shapes in telling a touching story, and magician Mervant Vera, who spontaneously creates unique, moving rap songs in every show with the help of the audience (who have each been given a separate word in an envelope before the beginning of the show).

• Adrenaline-pumping music, courtesy of Pack Drumline, a group of Chicago youths who have a world-class sound (and some very cool moves to match).

• Jaw-dropping visuals, thanks to Light Balance, dancers who cover their bodies with lights and bust moves in complete darkness, resulting in the creation of a whole other world where the laws of physics do not apply.

• All the feels, which is understating the case considerably when Kodi Lee takes to the piano and delivers one of the best singing voices you’ll ever hear. There’s also been audience participation added to Lee’s segment: You get to pick the second song he’ll perform!

Seven Hills home offers fantastic views and lifestyle

Seven Hills is truly one of the most sought-after communities in all of Southern Nevada. It’s a huge and luxurious masterplanned community, with homes to fit every lifestyle, all centered around the 18-hole championship golf course, Rio Secco. And a home has just become available in the Seven Hills com-

munity of Terracina, one that offers plenty of room for large families and plenty of entertainment space.

This 6,417-square-foot, two story home, listed by Ivan Sher of IS LUXURY, offers plenty of privacy, thanks to Terracina’s two guard-gated entrances, plus spectacular views of not only the Rees Jones-designed

golf course but also the Las Vegas Strip and surrounding mountains.

The home, featuring five bedrooms, seven bathrooms and a three-car garage, is also unique in design (all homes at Terracina are custom). It sits on a nearly half-acre lot, and the space has been well-designed, from the home itself to the

lovely yard, featuring well-maintained native landscaping and exterior lighting.

As you explore the interior of this contemporary masterpiece, you’ll immediately notice the natural lighting throughout; the whole home just feels light and airy. There are so many highlights, including the spacious kitchen with its expansive island and a well-appointed butler’s pantry. Both the kitchen and dining areas have easy access to the huge living room that boasts multiple gathering areas.

The main floor includes a wine cellar and secondary ensuite bedroom, as well as an owner’s executive suite with a sitting area, spalike bath and one of two fireplaces. Head outside to enjoy a covered outdoor entertainment space and a backyard complete with striking native landscaping, exterior lighting and luxurious pool.

The second level is packed with goodies, from a roomy home gym with bath, a functional office space and large entertainment room, complete with a deck. There are two

additional ensuite guest bedrooms with balconies, an overlook to the main living space and great views of the majestic McCullough Mountain range.

As a resident of Seven Hills, you’ll also enjoy its 22 acres of parks, including Sonata, Vivaldi, Allegro, Puccini and Rossini, as well as recreation centers, playgrounds, walking trails and more. –
