January is one of my favorite times of year in Las Vegas. The city is filled with the buzz of upcoming show announcements, new openings and updates, and a special energy for the year ahead that can only be felt when you’re here. As we say goodbye to 2023, we do so with appreciation for an incredible year, including the inaugural Formula One Grand Prix, several skyline additions, and a myriad of new, unforgettable businesses. As 2024 opens, there is even more to look forward to. We are getting ready to welcome our very first Super Bowl, and anticipate new restaurants and bars, attractions, shows, sporting events and festivals, and much more. Las Vegas continues to grow and evolve at a rapid pace, and the great community of people here who put their hearts and souls into its success is truly moving. Our annual Hall of Fame issue is something so very special to all of us at Las Vegas Magazine, as it honors the Las Vegas institutions that continue to withstand the test of time. This is our fifth year putting together this recognition program, celebrating the iconic destinations that help to make our city the Entertainment Capital of the World. In the following pages you’ll find the very best in dining, shows, attractions, nightlife, shopping and more that keep our visitors coming back time and time again. If you haven’t experienced some of the honorees featured on this list, I hope reading about them inspires you to check them out—you won’t be disappointed. In addition, I would like to express my sincerest gratitude to our Hall of Fame sponsors, Aristocrat Gaming and Dos Caras Tequila, as well as AREA15 for hosting us at the celebratory event. This program wouldn’t be possible without their generous support.

Get to Giggling This comedy star’s eponymous club on the Strip delivers hilarity with every show
No one likes being picked on … unless the person doing it happens to be extremely funny. When the man himself hosts at Brad Garrett’s Comedy Club, you’ll find yourself wanting to see what smart remarks he has for you as he warms up the crowd before the show. Nobody is safe and nothing is off limits for the Everybody Loves Raymond star. The venue itself has been bringing top-tier comedy to MGM Grand since it opened in 2012, but with its relocation from the basement to the District, the space became an intimate, stylish room with warm lighting and a signature black velvet curtain, conjuring vibes similar to a 1920s lounge. As a bonus, just outside the doors to the main room is a quaint bar that features live jazz performances multiple nights a week; it’s a perfect setting to imbibe in if you’re not ready to wrap up your evening after the curtain closes. Garrett hosts this Friday and Saturday with the hilarious Percy Crews 2 and Adam Mamawala joining him. Any show at this spot guarantees top-notch comedy, but if you can drop in when the legend himself is in the room, you’re in for a treat. He’s a master at what he does and will have the crowd rolling mere moments after taking the stage. Crews, who also performs alongside Mamawala and Rob Sherwood Jan. 8-11, has been a stand-up comic for more than 30 years and is known for his relatable, yet sharp, quips. Known as a comedian and podcaster, Mamawala has been featured on Comedy Central, MTV and BET, among other outlets. Regardless of who’s taking the stage when you decide to stop into Brad Garrett’s Comedy Club, you can count on having a fantastically funny experience. The intimate venue allows you to feel like the comic performing is merely having a conversation, and every person booked here has some serious comedy chops. Join the conversation! –Em Jurbala MGM Grand, 21+. bradgarrettcomedy.com

A New Dawn
The legendary singer returns for more dates of his residency
His touring days may be winding down, but Frankie Valli is hardly retiring. The voice that launched a parade of hits beginning with No. 1 single “Sherry” in 1962 has been well preserved and, at 89, Valli still follows his muse wherever it takes him, including the Westgate Las Vegas, where he resumes his residency with The Four Seasons this week. He got in touch with his roots for his most recent studio LP, A Touch of Jazz, a collaboration with Joey DeFrancesco

that turned out to be one of the final recordings of the late organ virtuoso. “It was one of the things that I’ve done in my career that’s been most fun,” says Valli of the 2021 album. The influence of legendary jazz contralto Jimmy Scott, which carried over into recordings with the Four Seasons, was palpable. “It was where I started and what I really wanted to do because I never really wanted to be a pop singer. There was really no money, or not
enough money, to make a living in jazz.” Valli maintained the legacy of the Four Seasons with regular touring, but while the desire to bring music directly to fans is still there, the lure of staying in place with an extended engagement inside Westgate Las Vegas’ venerable International Showroom was an offer he could not refuse. –Matt Kelemen

Passport to Pangea
Strip attraction is fun and educational for the whole family Looking to keep the kiddos happy for an hour? Or are you an adult dinosaur lover? Whatever your situation is, much fun—and learning—can be had at Dino Safari: A Walk Thru Adventure at Horseshoe Las Vegas. This self-guided exhibition transports guests to prehistoric times as dinosaurs come to life (When you watch the animatronic monsters move for the first time, it might just make you jump a little!) and tell their 66-million-year-old story. From the triceratops and velociraptors to the scary rows of teeth on the herrerasaurus and T. rex, guests can stop by each dino to snap pics and learn the stats on each reptile. Make sure you don’t miss checking out the Observation Station—it’s one of the coolest parts of the exhibit. Besides the fun, Dino Safari is also a great teaching tool; find tons of information at each stop and around each corner, soaking up all the facts about what this world once was when dinosaurs roamed Pangea for more than 170 million years. There are also great interactive stations for the kids, including an archeological dig area where they can search for fossils. Don’t miss the little dino rides, too, including sliding down a dinosaur’s tail and teeter-tottering on a mini dino. High-tech audio-visuals help aid the experience, and the jungle-like atmosphere will keep guests immersed in the world once ruled by these ginormous creatures. –Kiko Miyasato Horseshoe Las Vegas. dinosafari.com

Bring a Big Group
This Strip pub was designed for socializing on a grand scale Few destinations are quite as social as the Irish pub. And few Irish pubs on the Las Vegas Strip are quite as social as Nine Fine Irishmen, as authentic a spot as you’re liable to find outside the Emerald Isle—every part of this venue was built in Ireland and shipped to New York-New York. But authenticity is only the beginning of the special memories you’ll make here. The first thing you’ll want to set up here is a drink, and you’ll have plenty of quality choices, from a fresh Guinness

(so smooth and silky, possibly the best stout ever conceived, in this writer’s opinion) to favorites from Las Vegas breweries (ask your server what’s available; it changes quite frequently). As you quaff, peruse the menu for your starter. We personally recommend Irish nachos, kettle chips smothered with beer cheese sauce, chive aioli and green onions, and drunken onion rings served with spicy mustard. All the staples you’d expect from an Irish pub are here for main cours-
es, from shepherd’s pie, a mixture of ground beef, peas, carrots and onions topped with mashed potatoes, fish and chips, chicken curry and bangers and mash, and all are superb. But for a change of pace, try the 14-ounce ribeye or 12-ounce New York strip. Try a Guinness chocolate cake for dessert. Just promise us: Bring as big a group as you can here. It’s so much more fun that way. –Ken Miller

Côtelettes d’agneau Vivienne
By Nina King
It’s a little hard to eat at LPM Restaurant & Bar without also learning a little about Jean Cocteau, the bon vivant who is the inspiration behind so many elements of the trendy French-Mediterranean venue. Cocteau walked so many creative paths during his life, from art to filmmaking, and that is reflected in everything from the cocktail menu to the art on the walls.
LPM Restaurant & Bar retains the bones of the former Milos, with a gorgeous patio overlooking the Strip. For Nicholas Budzynski, LPM chief executive, The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas was a perfect place for the newest restaurant in the LPM stable. “I visited the property and I felt there was a lot of synergy between the two brands. Meaning that we cater for a sophisticated audience that is look-
ing to new things (to experience). … something a little bit risqué, but still sophisticated and high quality. This is the right location for us.” Remodeling the restaurant left the space light and bright, filled with pops of color and art on the walls, giving you something to ogle during every minute of your visit. At the welcoming bar before dinner, order a cocktail from the clever

menu, a red folio that contains stories from Cocteau’s life and recipes inspired by his friends and art, like The Beauty & the Beast, a tasty treat with Grey Goose, St-Germain, yellow Chartreuse, strawberry and fennel cordial, inspired by the 1946 film. The Trinity, with Bacardi Ocho, cacao, strawberry, Islay honey water and bitters, brings Cocteau‘s friends and dreams into the cocktail story, with
an inspired, floating glass presentation. An LPM signature drink, the Tomatini, combines the best aspects of a martini with a Bloody Mary—the mix of vodka, lemons and tomatoes has been a global sensation. That Tomatini ties into the tomatoes on each table, intended to give diners friendly interaction as they devour the fruit. You’ll find the dinner menu in French, which fits well with
the vibe Budzynski says LPM wants diners to get. “We want them to feel that they’re traveling …” Indeed you do, but luckily English translations are provided if your French is rusty. Try marinated sweet peppers, and yellowtail carpaccio served with guacamole and citrus dressing, two appetizers sure to appeal. And escargots de Bourgogne, another signature item, presents the dish with simple garlic butter and parsley. For main courses, the homemade rigatoni with cream and mushrooms is decadent, with an earthy, almost smoky flavor while gnocchi à la tomate fraîche delivers plump pillows with cherry tomatoes. Canard à l’orange presents incredibly tender duck legs, perfect with sides like Gratin Dauphinois, a creamy rich potato dish. The signature côtelettes d’agneau Vivienne artfully arrange marinated lamb cutlets on the plate. For dessert, indulge in a vanilla bean-flecked vanilla cheesecake. It’s super creamy, like so many other dishes here. Pain perdu façon “Cyrus” is one of the best French toasts you may ever try—it has a brûléed aspect to it that elevates it.

OMEGA MART
There is no food desert at AREA15, thanks to Omega Mart. There are fresh Happles, sculpted cheese and meat products, breakfast in a box and Liquid Death in a can. It’s all in service to telling the story of the mysterious Dram Corporation, with surreal environments and a cavernous complex of art installations. But there’s no mystery to the impact that Omega Mart conceptualists Meow Wolf have had on the Las Vegas arts scene: They’ve taken things to a level heretofore unheard of in the city’s history.

IHEART RADIO M U S I C F E S T I VA L The way we listen to music was changing in 2011 when the inaugural iHeartRadio Music Festival debuted at MGM Grand Garden Arena. Jay-Z and Lady Gaga headlined the inaugural event, which sold out in 10 minutes. Kelly Clarkson, who appeared in a short five-minute set, was back for the 2023 festival, playing T-Mobile Arena on a bill with Foo Fighters, Lenny Kravitz, Public Enemy and Sheryl Crow. Memorable moments came in the form of T-Boz and Chilli paying homage to the late TLC member Lisa Lopes, and Tim McGraw electrifying the crowd with set opener “How Bad Do You Want It.” When it comes to this festival, pretty badly, now and into the future.

TEMPTATION SUNDAYS
Temptation Sundays is the only pool party in Vegas that caters directly to the LGBTQ+ community. But even if you aren’t gay, it’s still one of the best parties in town. It wasn’t the first venue to open as daylife began its ascension in Vegas, but it has maintained its energy and momentum as other pool clubs began turning down the volume. Its inspiring, inclusive nature is a huge part of that.

A Letter from the Lifetime Achievement Award Sponsor: It’s been said that everyone gets their 15 minutes of fame—for Renee West, her moment of notoriety came as she shattered the glass ceiling when MGM Resorts International named her as the first woman to hold the title of President and Chief Operating Officer on the famed Las Vegas Strip. At Aristocrat Gaming, we are thrilled to join Las Vegas Magazine in honoring Renee’s lifetime of achievement and the distinction she has brought to gaming. We strive to create an environment where every person feels a sense of belonging and can thrive and contribute to their fullest. To accomplish this, we focus on recruiting, retaining, and developing diverse talent with a range of backgrounds, skills, and capabilities in every country in which we operate. In 2022, Aristocrat signed up to the HESTA 40:40 Vision (an investor-led initiative to achieve gender balance in executive leadership across Australia’s largest listed companies) and pledged to achieve gender balance in executive leadership by 2030. Aristocrat made further progress on gender diversity and equity this year, increasing the number of women in leadership roles and addressing the gender pay gap through investments in parity and policies that increase representation at all levels. All of this is possible because of industry legends like Renee, who paved the way for women in gaming by trailblazing her way to the top. We are honored to recognize Renee West: leader, game-changer, visionary. From all of us at Aristocrat Gaming, congratulations!

RENEE WEST
Former president of Luxor and Excalibur resorts on the Las Vegas Strip
Renee West spent much of her life making a difference. She truly blazed a trail for others to follow, having the distinction of being the first woman ever named president of a Las Vegas Strip resort. For West, her interest in the field was less about gaming and more about interacting with, and developing, people. She discovered this about herself when she began working with Caesars Palace as a training specialist. She ended up integrating into organizational development, learning how training and creating an organization work together. “That’s probably what I’m most passionate about— developing people to line up behind a strategy, and making sure that you have the right strategy in place,” she said in an interview with career education website Pursue the Passion. “It’s kind of like a big chess game. So that’s fun for me.” After three years at Caesars Palace, West spent time with Station Casinos, branding their employee culture. Her career path to being a true game-changer began in 2000, when she joined MGM Resorts International (Then MGM Mirage) as vice president of human resources at Primm Valley Resorts. It didn’t take long for her skill set to be recognized; she soon after became president of all the Primm Valley Resorts casinos, making her the first woman in the company’s history to oversee a property. Her move to the Strip came in 2005, when she was promoted to president at Excalibur, the first woman

ever named president of a Strip resort, and four years later she took over as president of Mandalay Bay. In 2010, she became president of both Luxor and Excalibur, and retired in 2015. Her legacy of success at every level of the gaming industry is why she’s this year’s Lifetime Achievement Award recipient.
