There’s a lot of genius that goes into the making of the Blue Man Group show that most people don’t even think about. For starters, there’s the look of the Blue Men themselves—all wear understated custom black jackets, pants and boots, about as muted an ensemble as one could imagine. But it’s brilliant, as it enables the audience to focus only on the faces of the performers.
The feeling of discovery is the ongoing theme here, whether it’s finding out the decibel level possible from eating Cap’n Crunch, figuring out how to access an iPhone, or discovering how many marshmallows you can fit in your mouth. (Spoiler alert: It’s a lot!)
Starting this year, the show added new components to the lineup. The bad news? The iconic
Twinkie segment (called “The Feast”), which involves an audience volunteer, “poncho seating” for those closest to the stage and the effects of eating the snack cake on the Blue Men, is saying goodbye. The good news? A new segment is taking its place, this time for two audience participants. The company is very mum on the changes, so you’ll have to buy a ticket to find out.
But c’mon—it’s the Blue Man Group! You were going anyway, right?
